I am happy with the win, but your tail sure did wag today. You'll take some confidence from that. Might have to make some chances to the top order though, as they struggled for form in this test.

Interestingly, I put £3 on us not regaining the Ashes (£4.09 returns) and £1 on us winning this test (and ergo the Ashes) at £4.50 returns. So no matter the result, I win money. Even if it's only 9p or 50p.

ENGLAND WIN


I was extremely worried until Ponting was ran out (feel for the bloke, could have batted all day, but out cos of a s**t decision by Hussey, and an amazing throw from Freddie). We never make it easy (although the 197 run win makes it seem it was) and we rode our luck a lot in the series. However, we may as well have batted with 10 men due to Bopara's poor form. It's no coincidence we knocked good scores with Bell at number 3. Big congrats to Trott for his century, terrific knock.



The only sort of gloating I'll do is this: McGrath - shove your 5-0 up your arse.

Good win for England. I must admit you played better than us during the series. A shame we couldn't hold on for the draw, but batting for 2 whole days with the other team bowling like their lives are on the line is not an easy task.

We'll be looking to regroup and look at the errors we made, and try to set a strategy for the next Ashes. Looking forward to it down under.
