Name: Soi
Physical Description: The Soi are a mechanical race. They come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. However, there is a single model which is much more common than all of the others. A Main System, also known as an 'MS' or a Librarian, is a hovering machine propelled by efficient anti-gravity engines. Each MS weighs about thirty five kilograms and is about fifty centimeters in length. A single unit is made up of many overlapping concentric ovals of various shapes and sizes, each oval propelled by micro gravity engines which line the insides of each oval and give off a blue light when active. At the center of an MS is the Core, where all vital processes are carried out. The Core is an elongated oval with four lateral lines which pulse blue when active. The Core is the most vital area of the entire unit, and also stores the MS's only generator.
A Librarian is also protected by a light shield meant to deflect debris and minor small arms fire. When destroyed, a Librarian will lock up and fall to the ground before melting down into a pile of hot alloy. Librarians can perform many functions using sensitive gravity fields, and are capable of delicate repairs. Specially modified Librarians are also capable of surgery, and are equipped with antibiotics and biofoam in addition to biological scanners and other specialized equipment.
The main combat Soi is the Guardian, which is almost a full meter in length and houses a disproportionately larger host of tools similar to a Librarian's, thus cutting down on battery lifetime. The Guardian is almost proportionately identical in every way with the only difference being the lack of about a quarter of the standard number of concentric ovals and an increase in size in the rest. Both Librarians and Guardians are surrounded by nanobot dust which can do anything from form phased arrays to repairing the hull of their host Soi.
Mental Description: Librarians and Guardians have limited Artificial Intelligence, and depend on a central AI nearby to complete complicated tasks. When no orders are present, a rarity even in scarcely populated areas, a Librarian will go into standby mode, where it will land and deactivate most of its systems to save energy. As Guardians are only used in combat situations, they usually land on storage racks and await further orders.
The majority of Advanced AI's, or AI's with sentient-like intelligence, are much quicker than their biological counterparts in terms of mathematical calculations and memory storage, but are similar in most other regards. When utilizing a computer system, Advanced AI's are second to none in interface. That is not to say Soi AAI's are the best, only that AI's in general are much more adept at interfacing with computer systems than their biological counterparts.
Lifespan: All Soi have self-repair systems which will maintain their units indefinitely or until power is drained. A Librarian is capable of normal independent activity for up to two months without an external supply(Solar included), and can remain in standby for many years. A Guardian is almost always in standby, but due to larger power requirements, is only capable of combat for a week on average.

Strength:The Soi have a rather large number of hibernating Guardians and their yet larger Protector Brethren. Soi ships are very similar to Xie'an ships, and are only unique in their lack of tall corridors which are necessary for tall crews. Also, Soi ships do not have artificial gravity.

Equipment: Soi weaponry is only slightly modified Xie'an weaponry. That modification being the attachment of the weapon to the Soi.
History: The Soi were created by the Xie'an almost five hundred years prior to the current date. Since then the Soi have been redesigned multiple times to increase their capabilities and overall efficiency.
