To all,

Having received the result info from Chilern's John Deaville, seeking the activities of the Kent contingent (for publicity purposes), I thought it relevant to post the outcome on Chiltern's behalf, as follows: -

Herewith the results of the Engine's 2009 "£600" Open Triples: -

Main Comp Winners were: "The Baker Boys" (Dan Hills; Martin Baker & Rashid).

Main Runners Up were: "Team Kent" (Marcus Hickman; Alex & Dom). Marcus was in the winning team last year.

Plate Winners were: "Max O Rourke; Geoff Gray & Joe Hind". A Chiltern Scratch team - as Max O Rourke's two other team members didn't want to play in the plate! Geoff & Joe were spectators before the plate.

Plate Runners up were: "Emma Jones; Toni Gates & Sharon Fane"; all Chiltern Members.

It was very wet for most of the day so all above did well!!;

Thanks jD.

Regards,

Jack

An update is considered necessary to make a little more impact
for this Topic (as the Kent Runners Up team is this year unable to process for me a detailed report to go with the basic results), which is the little 'write up' that West Mids Brian Stote has sent me; which is as follows - putting another perspective of the day: -

"Hello Jack

In the wake of your info on "The Engine Triples", I have to tell you that my team came within a whisker of being in the final at the expense of Kent's Marcus Hickman, Alex Bruce and Dominic Hickman.

Philippe Bonnett, Jerome Rousseau and myself had them on the ropes at 12 - 3 on the ground and a boule to play, but Philippe put too much weight on it and the game went on to the next end from which they staged a comeback.

Even at 12 - 10 it looked probable that we would win but I played a boule horribly short (having pointed at 90%+ throughout the entire afternoon) and right in the way when it needed to go in and only one of our team's three remaining boules went in, with Alex producing a carreau at exactly the right moment to contribute to the three that they needed.

So near and yet so far!! (wistful expression)

Cheers! Brian "

Enjoy

Jack
