We are setting up a new Petanque club. We have the ground within an established working mens club but require any information on the best route on obtaining funds to build the pistes.. Any help from existing clubs would be most appreciated

in theory you should be able to get lottery funding, and possibly matching funding from some bodies.
im not sure who or how you go about getting this in England but there were some schemes up in Scotland that a few years ago you could apply to. the other one to look at is the community chest, aparently you can apply annually for funding to buy equipment, eg boules, coaching, umpiring etc, think there was a £1000 limit each year, but its better than nothing |

Go to your local authority for advice. They should have some one responsible for development of sports and leisure. You may need to align your application with one or other initiative going on.
Also look at http://www.awardsforall.org.uk/england/index.html which deals with small scale grants. Good luck, Nicsdad |

For info to everyone, the builders will be starting on BASTILLE day and hope to have the main terrain finished by the weekend...
Giving us 8 x 15 mt piste, with two different surfaces, one thicker and with more stones than the other |

we had our Come and Try day today. It was a great success. Over 25 people attended during the morning the afternoon was a wash out due to very heavy rain, but at least 7 people did come out in the rain. One thing it did prove was that the piste drains well and there wasnt any puddles
Thanks everyone for helping out during the day. Graham and Kim, Kath, Dan, Jan, David and Hazel Jeff |
