As I thought, the translation is good, but the drafting is bad. Jerome has it in a nutshell:

'We play one terrain each side but the end is dead'

Now why aren't you on the rules committee Jerome? rolleyes.gif

Hello Spardo,

As you may have already heard the saying (i don't know what the english equivalent is?):

"On ne peut pas etre au four et au moulin!"

Plus, they seem to do just fine without me...

Jerome.

As it happens I haven't heard it but Ray's definition seems as good as any.

But they obviously can't, we've just spent 2 pages discussing a badly drafted rule, which you defined precisely. biggrin.gif

The translation is good.
Perhaps the original French text could have been better...

Probably the wrong place to ask but....................do we have a National Umpire now that John Thatcher's term has expired?

My understanding of the situation is that following the AGM on saturday when proposals 11 and 12 were passed is that John Thatcher and David Lavelle are being asked to stay in post whilst the Umpiring and Coaching Commissions are set up and then the National Umpire and the National Coach will be appointed by the respective commissions and the YDO will be appointed by the MC.

If I've got it wrong then perhaps Kevin will correct it or if right confirm it

Hi Trotter,

Thanks for the information. However, as a result of the proposals passed at the latest AGM did not think that the EPA (or the MC) had the right to 'appoint' the national umpire & coach?

Thats my understanding as well, thought that was what I had said in my post ie the National Umpire & National Coach will be appointed by the new Commissions (not the MC) but the MC will still be responsible for appointing the YDO.
John & David have been asked to stay in post as an interim measure until the Umpiring and Coaching Commissions are up and running and presumably the appointment of these posts will be one of the first things they deal with.

I assumed that had got it right as no-one else who attended the agm has jumped in to correct me
