I have stumbled upon a most interesting discovery on Korriban. It dates back to the First Jedi Purge, shortly after the Jedi Civil War. It is a holocron of a Sith Lord that barely survived the destruction of the Sith Triumvirate of Darths Traya, Nihilus, and Sion. After his Lords' deaths, he returned to Korriban and sought to become a Sith of their magnitude, though he angered the spirits here, which led to his untimely demise.

Though his holocron contains few ideas that I haven't learned already, he does speak highly of Darth Traya, whose purpose in being Sith was most interesting. Traya believed that the Force was belligerent and cared nothing for the well being of the lives of those affected. She wanted to see it destroyed by provoking holes and wounds in the Force, such as Darth Nihilus, empowering her Sith academy on the remnants of Malachor Five, and by attempting to get the Jedi Exile to help her destroy it.

What is most peculiar is her interest in the Jedi Exile. She believed that the Exile harnessed the Force passively, and though she was a mediocre Jedi normally, she made up for this in her ability to rally those around her, and eventually the Exile passively harnessed the Force to become far more powerful and skilled than she normally was. Though the Exile was a Jedi, she was quite possibly one of the most powerful Force wielders in Galactic history. This suggests that the Force is drawn to those who gain power. Because the Exile wielded power through her allies, she drew the Force to her, as well.

Darth Bane. A name I have heard so many times, it has been driven into my furry little skull. I grow weary of it! His Rule of Two does indeed reflect the nature of the Dark Side as people see it as. But there is one major flaw in this mentality: There IS no Dark Side! Only power, and those willing to use it for others or themselves. That is the difference between Jedi and Sith: Selflessness or selfishness.

Darth Bane's Rule of Two is indeed effective in prolonging the teachings of the Sith, which I have less and less faith in every day. Someone who desires power desires power over all things, including others that seek power. That is why an alliance between those who want it will never stand, and if they force it to stand, they will never gain power as they know it.

The reason is because of personal flaws and impatience. Before they are not patient enough to conquer all else, they conquer each other. In doing so, they lose their grip on what they do control, trying to control, dominate, and destroy each other, and they fall. That is why the Rule of Two was established: To prevent Sith from destroying each other, and ensuring their legacy.

Darth Bane's way of doing things had a manifestation of this flaw. Regardless of ranks, titles, and tasks set before the Apprentice, ultimately the Apprentice's purpose and desire is power! So while they ought to rule together, they instead will end in destroying each other, losing what they had in the process. That is why the Sith will never conquer and remain in power: The Apprentice.

However, a possible alternative is a Rule of One, of sorts. Where there IS no Apprentice. Just the Master, who conquers and will retain that power for the rest of his or her life. And they shall be the best of the Sith, what every Sith wants to become: To rule themselves, and have no other force affect this. This is why so many Jedi fall to the Dark Side. They are dissatisfied with being the lackey of the Council, having no control over their own lives. It is a pitiful existence.

It is for this reason, and my own safety, that I am renouncing my name as Darth. My apprentice can go about and tinker with the teachings of the Sith. I am onto something here, something far bigger than being selfish. I may have found the key to enlightenment.

After centuries of living, learning, and longing, I have found the answer. This is why I am no long Darth Guyute! Because I have a higher purpose in life. All those who want power do! Regardless of how or why, all those who have and want power have a responsibility! A purpose, a higher calling! This is the true nature of the Force: There is either One, or Balance.

The Jedi believe in balance. To keep life as we know it going, and to prevent it from falling into despair and suffering. They strive to make all life happier and comfortable. It is amiable, but short-sighted. The Jedi reject power as an end, rather they use it as a means to their own end. As such, they conflict with how things ought to go, and as such, they are an obstacle.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, with what most would recognize as the Dark Side or the Sith, things are quite different. The Sith Code, which is a misnomer of sorts, explains things best.

Peace is a lie only because it is an unreachable goal. The Jedi will never truly succeed, and they know this, but it is like the economy and death itself. It is inevitable that it will end or change. There is no true purpose other than keeping it healthy, but there is no end. The Sith are shortsighted because they reject this goal because it is a purpose rather than an end. They are fools because of it, and they do not recognize the true alternative.

Passion, whether the Jedi recognize it or not, is in all beings. It is what drives us, a purpose, whether it is ourselves or others. No individual can be blamed for their desires and drives. Otherwise, there would be nothing. The Force would be stagnant and it would rot. I would fear the day the Jedi truly succeed in balancing the Force than the day a Sith Lord took over the galaxy.

Through passion and drive, one will gain strength. The will to do something will lead to the means to accomplish it: Strength. Through strength, the ability to accomplish it, one gains the power to do it. With will, a person will be driven to perform whatever task they wish. Through power, the means, they gain victory. Ultimately, they will succeed in one way or another if their passion gives them enough strength.

And through victory, ones chains are broken. The Sith can accomplish this because they see an end, a goal. The Jedi will not because they see only a purpose. These chains, though, what do they mean? This is something else I have discovered in my studies. These chains are restrictions, what holds oneself back, whether it is the physical limitations of the world or their own mental limitations.

I believe that the Exile, in her will to restore the Jedi, the abilities to do so, her means to do it with, the power to do it and ultimately succeeding through defeating the Sith and training her companions, she succeeded. And in doing so, she broke her chains. The Jedi Exile was no longer restricted by the laws of our world, though I doubt she saw it as such.

The Jedi Code and the Sith Code are not necessarily incompatible with one another, though perhaps there is a difference in the definition of terms. The Jedi Code is a way of life, whereas the Sith Code is a summary of a goal. Where one is never-ending, the other leads to an end-To death. To enlightenment.

The Exile had the ability to absorb knowledge and the Force passively by being victorious in her endeavors. I believe all beings have this ability, she was just able to harness it to a farther extent than most. Since power is so spread out, there is no Oneness in the galaxy. But through power, through assimilating the Force and the Universe into oneself, one will bring it closer to that goal.

If a single being were to harness the power of the Galaxy, or possibly the Universe, they would assimilate the Force, and all life, into themselves, and thus they would achieve true enlightenment. It seems like an unlikely end, but as with all goals, it will one day be achieved.

Perhaps, if those who seek power worked together, put their power into one goal as the Exile had, they could get far closer than anyone else. With their goal of gaining all the other power in the galaxy first, they would then absorb or destroy each other, and thus the Force, as it wills itself to become, will be One. It is not a pessimistic view, that all existence should end and manifest itself into a single, lonely being, but rather that, in doing so, an understanding of everything is achieved, and there is no longer any need for the concept of purpose or even power. It wouldn't be oblivion. All things would exist at once, in one spot.

This is the purpose of all power int he universe: To achieve oneness. And this is the purpose I must spread. Those who resist it will be destroyed. Those who cannot recognize it will be harnessed. Those who help will achieve it. And I will achieve it.
