It was brought up by Tenki in the cbox and I was kind of wondering myself. What do you guys think the full deal is for a member of a division fighting his captain to claim his spot?
Is there no acception for the captain? Is he not allowed to surrender the captainship to the opponent? What are your thoughts, I have just been curious.

I say that if you can honestly kick your captains ass(not likely) then you deserve that spot...We should have it where a few other captains are watching as witnesses.. that'd be awesome!

Actually, the former sounds good. Make the captain and the challenger fight on equal ground to see who's actually better.

Of course you can refuse. But it should be allowed if both people are willing to consent to it.

He shouldn't have to. But he should be able to adequately best his underlings without making them bow with a bankai to the fayce.

Well, VCs challenging captains shouldn't be a daily event, really. I think if we DID let VCs through with bankai, if just so that they would be able to fight on par with their captain by request and strict review (and they could give it up if they lose?), that might be a fairly... sensical and canon-observing way to do it.

But on-topic...
I think it would be a fair event if the Captain was limited to Shikai-only, I mean they are still generally more powerful than a lieutenant, 3x+ more powerful usually, and so its not like it would inconvenience them greatly without it... Some of the power-whores may whinge, but if both VC and Captain agree on a battle/exhibition match, it would make for more interesting bouts...
