I had my second battle last Thursday, against the goblins.
3 shamans: one Lv2 and two lv 1s
60 goblins: fc
25 goblins: fc, shortbows, three fanatics
23 orcs: fc
10 spiders: fc
10 spiders: fc
Vamp lord: forbidden lore (vampire), lord of the dead, dark acolyte, talisman of preservation, scroll, helm of commandment
Vamp: talisman of lycni, forbidden lore (death), powerscroll
wight king: BSB, flag of the bloodkeep
25 skellies: fc
20 skellies: fc (bunker)
25 ghouls: ghast
25 GG: fc, greatweapons, banner of the barrows
Seeing the sheer numbers I deploy in my right corner. A forest protects my left flank.
I go first and my large skellie unit marches forward aiming for the arch goblin in front of them. The GG march as well. The ghouls, containing my death vamp move up to 4" as they are partially in the forest. The bunker, with my lord, follows the GG. The black coach stays behind the forest but absorbs nothing.
The magic phase only sees a couple of skellies being raised.
The large unit of goblins and the bowOrcs start to quarrel about who goes first. The spiders threat my coach. The pumpwagons stumpble forward. My coach absorbs one dice. Magic isn't a big hit too. The doom divers are too nervous an both misfire.
My skellies charge the pumpwagon, triggering the fanatics. The pumpwagons gets dimantled for spare parts and the skellies overrun two fanatics and into the goblinarchers. The coach absorbs two more dice. The death vamp triggers the sun - rolling double four, oh powerscroll :wub:
The orcs with Orcboss and shaman gets blown away. Only four orcs survive the vortex. Though the vamp escapes the S10 hit she does get sucked into the realm of chaos. But, more importantly. Job done (Y)
I instantly get 9 PD back but my lord sadly rolls a double 1.
A unit of spiders charges my coach. However they run into damnation instead. The caoch is on the pursuit now. The doomdivers hit home twice this time. And while writing this report I realise I completely forgot about the Flag :huh: A couple of GG get crushed.
The remaining fanatic runs of the table. And the goblin archers, in combat with the skellies, fear them more then they are willing to aknowledge. After taking a couple of casualties they get overrun by the skelllies.
The GG charge the other pumpwagon, taking it down in no-time. They overrun into the goblin chariot. The skellies reform, facing the doomdivers. I re-raise a couple of ghouls.
For some reason my opponenent doesn't charge his big goblin unit into my GG or balkc coach. Anyway, my GG take down the chariot and the goblins fail their panic test.
The coach overruns the fleeing goblins and my opponenent conceded.
A nice game.
I only lost the vamp.
Things to remeber:
- I have a 4+ ward save agianst ranged attacks
- don't forget about the +1 CR for charging
- I can marche through a forest with infantry
Next game is against Empire. Two mortars, rocket launcher and cannon -ouch
You do realise that units can march through forests?

With the Power scroll I take it that if you go for the Purple Sun (big template) and it hits a really low score with two double ones it still goes off?
