Hello all. Recently Iv been giving a little thought about returning to WHFB, and VC are a contender for my attentions. I joined this place way back, so im looking for a little inspiration. I have neither seen, read or looked at the new VC book, or the most recent rulebook for that matter (so apologies if im a little slow) Im just looking for a bit of variety as I paint when i stay in hotels as I travel for work. So am restricted to a limited pallet of colours and space.

Now I figured the vast ranks of zombies and skeletons would be ideal for the limited colours required, and large expensive vampires for characters.

What brought me back into this coven was I re read an old story I wrote some years ago, and reposted on another forum I made for critique.
I enjoyed writing it and the image of the warhammer world and background I had created, and it brought me right back into the sway of vampire counts. I will admit that its full of gramatical errors. But i will either re do or write for my chosen bloodline, should I opt to continue with VC.

At this point I think all of our core choices are viable provided to base your build around what you want to achieve.

Zombies are good choices in 8th and are really easy to raise in large numbers with sufficient magic support. Which is good as they die in droves to just about everything. You can start with smaller units of these and buff them up quite easily.

Skeletons serve a similar role but need to start with bigger blocks. I was going to say 40 models minimum but after games on the weekend I found 40 too small so would now suggest 50 as the starting size. I like HW&S for the parry save but I think spears will also work ok.

That big... ouch... especially since they come in silly boxes of 10 skeletons :(

Might have to be Zombie heavy.
