Dear Folks
While I have seen the storm of magic materials advertised in white dwarf and have mavelled at the large range of new plastic terrain pieces I must confess that I haven't touched it.
Has anybody actually played it?
Is it worth getting?
Will it all disapear much like Mordheim, Warmaster, Storm of Chaos, Dark Shadows campaign, etc?
Really after some feed back please?
(I would contemplate it if it meant that I could use some of the monsters in a normal game but if they can only be used in a specific storm of magic campaing then it dosen't seem that good an investment)
Edmund
I have played a few games using the Storm of Magic book and here are my thoughts.
The magic gets a bit rediculous. It is cool to get control of the mage towers and power up your spells but I have won games by ignoring them completely and just killing the wizard in the tower with my VLord (its pretty easy as other than a Chaos Sorcerer or Vamp Lord show me a decent wizard in combat)
The best part about it is the Bound Monsters. I love this as it allows me to field the Aracknarok Spider that I love from my Goblins army in my Vampire Counts army (I just remove the Houda)
So in our campaign (which uses the other supplemental book that came out around the same time "blood in the badlands") we utilize our mines points to buy either bound monsters from the storm of magic book or more units from our own book.
Will this book go away. Yes, all GW products that are not space marines will not be supported [DO NOT QUESTION THIS UNLESS YOU WANT FANTASY TO BE OVERRUN BY FLYING BASED SPACE MARINE KILL SHIPS]...you know they would do it if they could just figure out how to spin it.
Dear Staticelf
Thank you for that and must confess then I'll leave it be. New monsters can go as they are useless to me. Maybe pick up the odd terrain piece.
