Title: So What Makes You A Lahmian Player?

Ardone - September 25, 2004 01:51 PM (GMT)
From my understanding of dealing with VC players the past 3 years there seems to be two schools when it comes to Lahmian players:

Those that love the fluff

And those that find Lahmian the most challenging Bloodline to use and master.

Which are you, or are you another breed of Lahmian player?

I like the models :P

Stabed - September 25, 2004 06:23 PM (GMT)
Yeah the models are realy good, and the fluff is nice.

MDMann - September 25, 2004 07:34 PM (GMT)
I like the fluff (politicking).

VC Eclipse - September 26, 2004 05:40 AM (GMT)
i luv the fluff too~~ and the whole "ladies rule" idea~~haha ;)

Neferata - September 26, 2004 06:38 PM (GMT)
Fluff mostly for me, but also because they are more difficult to use then the other bloodlines

Preacher - September 26, 2004 10:35 PM (GMT)
It's mostly because of the fluff but I like the models a lot as well. The extra challenge involved is also interesting. Also because they are not often used they can be underestimated in play.

fluff and the many convertions I can do with them, my wrights are paladins and my Grave Guard are elven swordmasters, black guard, greatswords, and a few misguilded chaos warriors make up the black knights

Raphael du Coudray - September 29, 2004 04:46 PM (GMT)
One of my buddies told me a Lahmian army has won a tournament before, so I guess the Lahmians have what it takes to rule the world (according to fluff anyway :P ) I like the idea that I can lower my opponent's leadership, but -1 seldom cut it. The average leadership is about 8, so even at 7, it's a little more than 50% chance that the enemy wouldn't fall for the lahmian's charm. A -2 to Ld would be more "noticeable"... Also, i feel that brettonian damsels and enchantresses would make great lahmian conversions. What do you guys think?

NightThing - October 8, 2004 08:55 AM (GMT)
I like the fluff. Itīs a nice Idea and I can colect an Empire Armie, too. They are the Armie of her Lover.

@Raphael du Coudray:
I like the -1 bonus very much. Together with the fear abillity of the Undead units itīs very cool.

Both for fluff and challenge. That and I play with all bloodlines for variation to keep the hobby fun.

Darlan Deathscythe - November 5, 2004 08:51 PM (GMT)
I bought a Lahmian blister today, just because I wanted to try something different.. I had to choose between them and the Necrarch, and both the fluff and models made me choose Lahmians..

The whole fully lead by seductresses works well for me. I love that whole girl seduces boy, boy falls in love with girl, girl uses boy then drains him of his blood. Or the old boy finds girl sexy, boy is about to get it on with girl, girl drains boy of all his blood.

I just love that whole sex and murder in one night feel.

So, I guess fluff. And every hero/lord I use will be female, and I' using some old HE figures for my necros.

The only bad thing about them are the vampire models because they look rattish, which angers me. But, I'd rather not try and look around for better models because I love everything else about them.

Ardone - January 11, 2005 09:09 PM (GMT)
Now, rattish is a new one on me but it does strike a chord.

And now I've gone and looked at them again, especially thinking of the one on foot (page 40 of the VC book) I can't remove the thought.

I know they were intended to be monstrous with their teeth out but I don't think Skavenesque would have been the intention...

Preacher - January 11, 2005 09:59 PM (GMT)
Always thought they had fairly sharp features I wouldn't use the term ratish but can see the link. I am in the process of painting up some Reaper minis to replace my GW lahmians. Reaper have some very nice female models which make great vampires.

Athamas - January 12, 2005 12:02 AM (GMT)
um.. female vampires!

im sorry, it had to be said!

The fluf is excelent, and they are not uber powerfull, so you have more respect for playing them, unline Blood dragons, (who rock, but are very powerfull)

The True Cegorach - January 12, 2005 12:10 AM (GMT)
Well, I think most of them look bad with the bared fangs thing going for them. But the Lahmians do definately look rattish because of it.

Why couldn't GW just make them look normal and not crumby? I love everything about them, except the face.

And that is pretty much what I was getting at with the whole girl seduces boy stuff.

Athamas - January 12, 2005 12:25 AM (GMT)
i prefer the damsel model, at least thats the one im planning to use, the one on foot!

The True Cegorach - January 12, 2005 01:57 AM (GMT)
Actually, I was just looking at the model itself (the unpainted ones I have in my room) and it isn't that bad looking, the problem was whoever the moron was that painted it shaded the wrong parts, thus it doesn't look that nice. But if you paint it right it should be good.

Innocent_Man - January 17, 2005 02:07 PM (GMT)
I ve never played Lahmian vampires but i recently met such ppl.

Fluff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So many friends have asked me why I didn't go blood dragons or stragoi when I picked out vampire counts as my army.......... the answer is fluff!!!!!!!!

Sure they get no armour save, but I am not the type of player that puts an army together to try to find the stongest and best army to win!!! For me it is so much about the history and fluff of the army involved, and the models, and Lahmians win hands down in that deparment :)

I play off the trad Lahmian list, you won't see any ghouls or zombies in my army, sure I may suffer tatically from it, but I really don't care! I want to have fun when I'm losing as well as winning, and for me going with the fluff will ensure that...

I don't understand people who play Lahmians who don't go the whole hog and don't play along the lines the fluff set out.. sorry I just don't... Lahmians lend themselves to the fluff... why fight it?

Lichemaster - March 13, 2005 11:24 AM (GMT)
The fluff! and the challenge ^_^
I mean whats cooler than female vampires?
