Title: Alternative Models.
Description: On the look out for Vampires...

Schnimon - August 15, 2006 01:54 PM (GMT)
I'm going to say right form the off I don't like most the current vampire models thouhh they are okay I'd prefer something a bit better for my general. So I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for altenrative models for Lamhian (or Necrach) vampires.

They don't have to be GW since I don't play there or in here torunements usually. And lets face it many other model makers out there make things that far surpass alot of the GW range.

Preferably she would be on foot with a sword, but i cna always convert the las tpart with out too much trouble.

Thanks in advance.

I have to agree that most Vampire models aren't really good. I looked up through some models for my Lahmia, and here's what I've got:

The old Bretonnian Sorceress is a good model, could be either a Lahmia or female Necromancer. Not much Bretonnian icon (only a little one), so it's perfect.

The Archive Lahmian Vampire is good too, way better than the current one I think.

There's also Neferata, a good model, not great but still better than what we currently have ;)

Of course there's the Mordheim Vampire Assassin. I personnally like this one, that's my favorite so far B)

Lucrezzia Belladona seems good too, but it's mounted. I don't have this one but it look good, might order it when I'll need some other bitz :)

There's also other female models out there, but some might require more conversion to make them more Lahmian. Models that could work with some conversion or as a themed army:

Bretonnian Damsels
Dark Elf Sorceress
Cauldron Of Blood Hag Queen
Witch Elf 1 (not sure, but looks like it could work)
High Elf Everqueen

That's all the model I can think off right now

Mm I don't want to really use Bretonnian Damsel's becuase the army is from Bretonnia and the damsels are becoming my banshee's.

But the Hag from the couldron of blood I think with a little tweaking may be a really good option, thanks for the help. (The links particularly helped :) )

I'm still open to any and all suggestions though. (The Vampire is likly to be one of the last models I buy..)

In the shades of death there was quite resently a picture on a very nice "Lahmia" model, it was not a GW model but here's a link: http://www.coolminiornot.com/96994

That is nice. Anyone know who makes it? I've done a quick search and couldn't find it.

If I remember correctly it's a Spyglass minature, but I don't know where you can get those

You can see it more clearly here, and it looks like you could buy it there.

Edit: I've looked a bit on this site, and this one would look great too ;)
Edit 2: Another one :)

Reaper Minatures make a lot of nice models which are suitable.

Ahhhhh I love it whenever this topic about alternate mini's for Lahmians comes up.... we may lose out a bit with the rules we have to deal with, with being Lahmians (ie. no armour save, bloodline powers that are nixed by immune to psych), but we make up for it with the great fluff we have, as well as the possibilities available in terms of mini's to represent our characters. The GW ones are not bad, and I have a couple painted up for those GW mini's only tournaments, but there are much better choices out there.

For example, this one can work just as well as your beautiful Lahmian vampire, or if you choose to like this one has, it can be perfect as a female necromancer that still captures that Lahmian beauty.

I definitely like the Spyglass one that someone had linked earlier, the one that was with the Grave Guard unit. The next one, which can be seen here, has some potential as well I think.

I really like this one. I think the hairstyle looks very Egyptian which works well with the Lahmian theme I think.. yes, a Brettonian look and theme works well for Lahmians as well (I will be painting up some Brettonian damsels myself for replacement necro's for the GW tournaments), but if you want to go with a theme where your Lady is quite ancient, then the Egyptian look works quite well.

All these are from the Reaper line. I currently use two Reaper mini's for my necro's, but will have to check out their site and see if I can find which mini's exactly they are.

Wow thanks guys.

Some of those Reaper modles look very good particularly thinking about

And the Spyglass one http://www.coolminiornot.com/85362

Thanks again seems like a very good community here. I must admit I agree with darknesseternal. We may not get the best rules but we can do really well with minis' and fluff.

I'll order soon once I've made up mind. The Reaper one though may take a bit longer cause I'll hav eto wiat for it too be shipped all the way to the Uk...but thats probably front runner at the moment in my mind.
