Title: Von Carstein vampires
NetVampireLord - March 5, 2004 08:03 PM (GMT)
I really dislike the GW Von Carstein models. They suck. If any other Von Carstein players agree with me, there is hope for us. The Mordheim vampire models are very dark and errie. I love them. They are £6 (inculding P+P) for a model on foot. I have one leading my army. I know this isn't a conversion, but it is the most approprate board in which to post this on.

I agree, the Von Carseins deserve a much better model. See I still use the old "red duke" model I always used. If I really thought I needed something that looked very Carsteinish and I wanted it to be GW, I might use something empire that is just painted dead. Actually now for my wolf-formed thrall I use a dead-looking Felix model.

That's what I do. There are some really good looking Empire leadership-type characters in the Mordheim range.
To be honest though, I don't think the specialty (Manfreid, etc.) Carsteins look all that bad. The run of the mill ones are pretty bland though and all come across to me as Dracula parodies.

I think I've said it before, on the old board, but I use the mounted Dogs of War general as a mounted von Carstein.
The guy who (used to come with) comes with Lucrezia Belladonna. I think he's very slavic looking, and has a noble trait to his bearing and features.

I use the Mannfred Von Carstein model if I need a mounted vampire, and the mordheim model if I need one on foot. I didn't know there were different vampire models for mordheim. Using an empire model can be just fine, but then you have to paint it really good to make it look like a vampire. The mordheim vampire I use looks like an elf (pointy ears, elven armour) and this makes him really fun to create some fluff for. I will post it somewhere on this forum as soon as I finish it.

There are two Mordhiem vampire models, but I am damned if I can rember the names if them. One has an immence, flapping cloak (my model of choice), and I believe it is called the Vampire Assasin (sp) or something along thoes lines. The other has a massive lance or spear with a Chaos-y looking decoration. If anyone is intressted, they are very nice models, which really capture the Von Carstein feel

I don't really have a problem with my mounted Von Carstein with the lance.
The accompanying model on foot is a bit Count Blah though.

Yeah, he's ok but think, he could be soo much better. Actually I think most of the vampire models are a bit naff with the exceptions of that Necrach with the ritual knife, Mannafred von Carstein and Zacharias the Everliving, maybe the only put effort into the special characters... *sigh*
