Title: 2000pts Strigoi Vs Darkelves

Eddie The Happy Zombie - August 30, 2007 12:03 PM (GMT)
Played a Dark Elf army with my strigoi list that I've posted here (haven't made any changes to it yet, but I'll probably drop the banshee for some more bats). For easy reference I'll re-post my list.

Raziel strigoi vampire lord with level 3 upgrade, curse of the revenant, and iron sinews - 410pts

Nothraptor necromancer with level 2 upgrade, book of archan, dispel scroll - 150pts

Morbius necromancer with level 2 upgrade, black periapt, dispel scroll - 140pts

23 skeletons with light armour, sheilds, full command -255pts

23 zombies with standard bearer - 148pts

2 units of 6 dire wolves - 60pts each

12 black knights with barding, full command, banner of the barrows - 385pts

5 Fellbats -100pts

1 banshee - 90pts

1 black coach - 200pts

His List (from memory)

Highborn with Gauntlet of Power, Shield of Light? (albion 5+ wardsave thinky), sheild, SDC, Cold One

BSB with Hydra Banner, heavy armour, SDC, Cold One (didn't know he had this at first as he deployed it with his knights and didn't declare it during character deployment <_< )

Assassin with 2 hand weapons, extra attack, poisen that always wounds on 3+

Sorcereress scroll caddy

Big unit of Spearelves

Big unit of dark riders (10) with x-bows (maybe spears as well.... I forget)

Big unit of Witches

10 regular x-bow elves (sorceress hovering near these)

8-10 cold one knights with champion and musician (both general and BSB in here)

Reaper Bolt Thrower

Deployment: both of our infantry units deployed centrally opposite each other, skellies opposite spear elves, zombies opposite witches. My wolves were next to the zombies for support while my knights deployed opposite his knights on the right flank. His x-bow elves, along with his bolt thrower, deployed behind his lines, getting some sight from the gap between his witches and knights. On the left flank went his darkriders, opposite my coach. My bats and banshee went behind my lines, near the infantry.

Early Game(turns 1 and 2)

On the Left flank - Seeing the threat that his fast cavalry could pose to my coach, I moved the bats up to threaten him with a charge or be charged senario. He could either charged me, got charged by me next turn, or retreat behind his lines, any of which was fine by me. He went for the sporting option and charged in, killing a bat (2 wounds) and losing 2 dark riders in the process. Static CR caused another wound on the bats, but they held on and pinned him in place (perfect. :D ). My coach, which had moved off to the side of my bats, charging into the dark riders flank and between it and the bats the riders were butchered and run down.

In the Center - Infantry moved forward on both sides, my wolves swinging out to threaten the flanks of his witches and bait his knights into the waiting lances of my wights (he didn't fall for it.... too bad). The necros left the infantry and hid behind them, now that his darkriders had been nullified.
I debated moving my Strigoi over to the zombies to help with the withces as I had a sneaking feeling he had an assassin hidden in there (as he had been much impressed with my own witches/ assassin combo), but decided to stay with the skellies just in case he decided his assassin should go with the spears instead. After all, the zombies were expendable.
Shooting and magic didn't accomlish too much. He killed some undead here and there (some skellies, zombies, and a couple of wolves), while I raised some more, bring both units over 30 models and withered a couple of witches with a gaze of nagash (rolled really bad for number of hits).

On the Right - Our knights played cat and mouse with each other, but he advanced a little too far forward.... and had run out of scrolls.... heh heh...

Mid Game (turns 3+4)

Left flank - Having dispatched his riders, my coach started moving over to help support the knights, while my bats flew over to eat his bolt thrower (it was yummy).

Center - It was charge time! Skellies charged into spearelves, the zombies into the witches with the dire wolves in the flank. Raziel tore 5 elves apart with his claws and the rest fled from fear, getting run down for their trouble. ^_^
The other combat wasn't so rosy. Out popped the assassin who chopped up 3-4 wolves on the flank before they could rip and tear at the witches. As a result only a single witch fell to the wolves. The rest of the pack was wiped out while the witches tore apart the zombies. Over the next combat rounds the zombies got wiped out, but they had delayed the witches(thanks to some re-enforcement raising) long enough for the skellies to turn around and threaten their rear. The ladies tunred to face the skellies that were right behind him (if he hadn't dispelled Raziel's Dance Macabre I'd have gotten him with a rear charge).
X-bows wipe out remaining wolves before the banshee moved up, assisted by the book of archon, and screamed the sorceress into an early grave.

Right flank - Knights moved up and were magically charging into his. My champion challenged and his lord excepted (good news for me). My champ managed a wound on the Highborn, while the remaining wights killed 3 cold one riders, their attacks aided by a hellish vigour. He revealed his BSB ( <_< grrrrrrrrrr....) and the hydra banner he was carrying. The lord reduced my champion to paste while his BSB and champion killed another wight. Next round more wights fell, but they killed some more cold ones and injured the BSB (if I'd known about him from the start he'd be dead by now...). Some crumbling occured but the knights kept up the fight. The coach finally reach far enough to threaten the flanks of the cold ones....

Endgame (turns 5+6)

Center - Skellies charge into the witches. X-bows xharge banshee.
Skelly champ battled the witch champion while Raziel once more tore and ripped apart some fragile elves, feasting on the souls of another full rank. The assassin couldn't kill enough to tip the balance (go armoured skellies!) and the witches broke and were killed off.
Between the re-enforcing bats and the banshee's wailing and slashing the x-bow elves were wiped out.

Right Flank - The black coach thundered into the flank of the cold ones. Impact hits killed 2 knights while the wraith and steeds cut down another. The enemy BSB finally fell to the concentrated attacks of a pair of wights and even though another 3 black knights fell the cold ones had had enough and fled, though they managed to outdistace both the few remaining black knights and coach.

At this point the Dark Elf general conceded and victory was mine. As the last of the dark elves fled the feild, Lord Raziel prepared to feast.....
