Well I didn't win anything, WAIT I DID A WAR MAMOTH FROM LOTR and A BUNCH OF GW TERRAIN from the food bank raffle!!!!!!!!!
But,
....really had great games versus well known people in the circuits. Tom mclure(savage orcs), Austin Lesh(Lizardmen), Joe Rogers(DOW), Johnny(Beastmen) Hastings, Mike Marko(Best overall winner several times).
Went 5-0-0, but taking VC alone hurt me because people would rate VC as hard anyway and even harder depending on what you took. The list itself was comparable to 3 of my opponents or better. The other 2 orc and goblins were in the twenties of course. I think that people rated the army harder then what was expected at a tournament(2 out of 10). 10 pts per game for opponent judged composition. I gave most people a 4-6 depending on the pluses because most lists seemed like decent lists. 2 armies had more power dice then myself and 1 had the same, and 2 had less. Most dispel dice were 5-6 and 2-3 players used a dispel staff effect against me which were given to all players to use throughout the games.
Game 1 - a freakin river divided the whole field, Tom's mage blew his head off turn 1, and then the other turn 5. I stayed as conservative as I could with only rolling 1-2 dice to prevent miscasts. And the bridge in the center screwed his orcs blocks up because of only allowing units 100mm wide cross it. so 4 ranks wtih 25mm, or 5 20mm. The slow battle line got caught up in the river by turn 5 where I got stuck, but so did some of Tom's M.
Game 2 - went to austin lesh with lizards. Slann with extra dice and EoTG making his guy a third level. He used the +1 dispel against me which was good. He miscast and ended his phase early turn 3. EoTG, all mages with high magic, was taken care of by the varghulf by killing the little guy on top but it was kept in combat for the entire game, the battle line slowly caught up and charged temple guard.
Game 3 - Joe Rogers DOW(won best painted), took 2 maneater regiments, giant, pegasus, crossbowmen, lumpin crooks fighting manhoods, and some heavy cav. Joe had a level 4 with 3 scrolls, the +1 card again, and a level 2, all mages with high magic. I had to play duck duck goose on the heavy cav flank with my Bulls(DOW unit I took for game 3) because his maneaters could eat away at my general. So I deployed my ghouls and vampires on the opposite flank and moved as quickly as I could around. The ogres ended up getting counter charged on the right flank turn 3(forrests divided them from the other flank) The varghulf slowly made it around the left flank and fought the manhoods who did wounds to him, but then broke a turn later. Maneaters got charged by the coach in an effort to keep them at bay.
Game 4 - Johnny Hastings Beasts of Chaos, lots of paint work he had and great board. More miscasts for his 2nd lvl mage with death magic turn 2(deceased), I tried to bottle neck my right flank with zombies and ghouls and it worked to an extent but he then reformed and took his units to the center leaving my static rez units out on there own. His level 4 mage in a unit of Gors/ungors stood a charge fromt he Coach on turn 3 or 4 after making their terror check. The coach was at a power level 4 and got killing blow and lots of impact hits. I just wanted to bottle his magic to avoid his lore of light mage again because that had kicked my but in game 2 against the lizardmen. They ended up breaking and I overran. Got lucky again. Finaly turn came down to charging the Bestigors with great weapons and fighting them, they stood.
Game 5 against Mike Marko, orcs and goblins. Nothing over the top really. It is what you would expect. 3 orc regiment(1 savage), 3 black orc characters, the 1 hit wonder goblin, giant, 3 night goblin blocks, 3 fast cav and hoppers. This game was good with his one hit wonder goblin killing the coach, bolt throwers wounding the varghulf(but later IoN), His lone troll stood in front of my Generals unit to prevent them from charging. My right flank fended off the savage orcs long enough with ghouls and zombies clogging up the pipes. The varghulf ended up sweeping aound the flank and killing the bolt throwers and chariots after the chariots only did 7 impact hits, wounded with 5 and I saved 4. Then my attacks back killed a chariot and difficult ground killed the other. His generals unit last turn in a desperate attempt charged my 2ndary unit of ghouls and didn't overkill enough then my three characters came in and did 8 wounds in the flank. The wight king did 2 wounds with the black axe after he missed his saves. The outnumber did that one in.
I had a great time, wished GW/GF9 didn't pull out because its always nice to have prize support.....sigh.....
But the food raffle was very nice, also The waaghcast.net had prize support and gave 20% of proceeds to the food drive. Joe can now get better equipment and some extras, I think he now knows he needs to get more word out!
I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO TRY AND DO NEXT BUT ITS GONNA HAVE ELEPHANTS!

yeah I hear ya austin, lesh boy, thanks for making it to MWR, sorry you had to face my unballanced horde of undead...
Was it that bad? I got a 12/50 for opponent scored composition, and a 15/30 on WPS. It was hard to determine what to take because VC get negatives for showing up, no one likes playing against them.
Anyway I was looking at getting another elephant and using it as a movement tray for a whole unit of any race we'll see
By the way you did put up a fight but its hard to play against VC with catycorner deployment. And i did get back in that flank, and the cold one's wiffed didn't they? So with that and other worse dice it isn't good.

Only 8 plus periapt. so potentially 9. I like the horde list though. I think I might try a VC lord with 3 wight kings kitted out with the usual black axe, sword of kings, and maybe just a great weapon. Just to see if its effective. Maybe 5-6 casting from the lord plus 2 carts. But it would be no rares, no ethereals.
some people are saying jimcon can be rough and to bring your big boy pants, he mentioned that my list at MWR seemed a little rough, does that mean drop the coach or varghulf? and take to 2 corpse carts?
we will see.
and even though they wiffed it was ghouls you were hitting with my bsb in the front so no bonuses.... ;)
however it was a good game with crappy deployment.
Looked like your Vargulf was your MVP all tournament long. I might have to start using mine a little more often.

well if you can limit their combat involvment to just 1 round at a time or overrun into other things they are awesome because of the hatred and reg.
It is really hard to take the charge from high strength regiments or giants and thats what I had to avoid or outmaneuver.
Alot of the games came down to zombies protecting my varghulf by being between the large regiments or hi strength units and the vargulf making his way around.
