Hi guys,

Thought I would share some photos of my growing army. This is my second army and is far better than my very basic (but much loved) OnGs.

I am far from a good painter and would welcome any comments to improve and make my units looks better...

Lets start with 'Screaming Lord Filth' himself..

I'm also far from a good painter, don't take my suggestion too seriously tongue.gif

The Mannfred model's skin looks a bit pale. That may just be the lighting, but if it is that light I would probably darken it up some.

The Black Coach looks fantastic! I love the steeds passing through the wall.

@Alesh

Thanks for your comments. I'm pleased you like the Coach. I had the idea of splicing the skeletal steeds but thought it would never turn out as well as my mind imagined it would look. I'm pleased with the results. It is my most recent model and has yet to see the gaming table. Like all my stuff, I painted it to a fairly decent standard but it still needs more detail...just need time.

These are the first photos I have taken of my army and the first few are definitely too bright. Hence why Manfred appears so light in colour. I then found by placing a natural light behind the models and taking photos standing further back the result was better. There is probably an even better way to do it. But I'm learning.

I still have things to post but need to spend some more time on them before they appear hear. My BSB and Black Knights are almost there and my Gave Guards have recieved some colour but are quite a way from being ready to even game with let alone post pics. After that it's the Blood Knights that are still in the box. Got to do them or my girlfriend (who bought them for me) will be offended.

Any more comments from others? I'm not pleased with the painting on the Varghulf, particulalry the grey skin. I would like it to be smoother and more well skin like. Plus the dire wolves need more pinky strands of muscle on their limbs. I just don't think my hands are steady enough. Any tips? All criticisms are more than welcome as I am really keen to improve.

Cheers

Dear Stinky

The truth is it is a bit hard to judge because of the lighting. The glare on the models makes it hard to judge colour depth etc.

From memory if you go over to chamber of the ever chosen (a chaos site) they provide some really good tips of photographing mininatures.

@EdmondThanks for advice.  I'm on my way over there now.  If I find it improves my photos I will repost.  I'm sorry the photos are of poor quality...they do have a habit of really highlighitng the bad bits. tongue.gif  CheersStinky  smile.gif

These are done very well - I don't why you are being so modest! I do like the Banshee and wraith bases, where did you get the brickwork from?

I do agree that the lighting is a bit strong on these and if you notice the green mat you have it does seem to be a little yellow because of the lighting. Perhaps if you could use a photo editing programme you could adjust for more green - so that the mat comes to the same colour. Hopefully the models would then show their true colours. Just a thought... but well done anyway - better than any of my efforts! cool.gif

Have to echo the previous comments - top notch job on the black coach with the steeds passing through the wall.

Corpse carts are looking great too!

Thanks for your comments guys. When I get a little time will post more pics of the WIP grave guards and blood knights.

Any tips on how to make the Varghulf skin look better? It's too rough for my liking.

Some have asked where I got the scenery from. It's a great site called 'fantascene' and the link is...

you could try applying several washes of ink, let dry each time completely to make the varguld skin more bat rubbery like, the straight varnish is too much, i usually apply like 3-4 coats of ink to get the effect i like. i use the flesh ink, then chestnut ink, then black ink.

Superb painting fella, your far too modest.
A few tips on the photos, wot sort of camera is it, if its a compact your gonna strugle getting decent shots indoor due to the flash being close to the lens and the fact to fill the frame your having to move the camera close in to the models, try and use natural light if you can and a white reflector to bounce some light back onto the model to high light the shaded bits, a peice of card 2' Sq would do.
