So I just got back from the Greek GT.On the whole we played 3 games of 2 hours each during the day.
The list I used can be found here MY ARMY LIST
The first game was against skaven…cheesy skaven, which I’ve never encountered before. That army included:1 grey seer riding a &%*ing bell,3 warlock engineers,3x20 clanrats with 3 ratling guns,2x20 clanrat slaves,8(!)jezail teams and 6 gutter runners and as you can find out I was massacred.VP difference:2600-164

2nd game against …vampire counts(!!).Well almost vampire counts,as he had 3 necromancers (1 with power familiar,1 with scroll and book of arkhan,1 with cursed book),a master necromancer (cloak of mist and shadows,2xscrolls),2x17 zombies,16 zombies,5 black knights(F.C.+warbanner),20 grave guards(F.C.+banner of barrows+shields),3 spirit hosts,2xbanshee.

VP difference:760(him)-965(me)

3rd game against dwarfs(!!!)…non-shooty-with no more than1 cannon war machines-with no more 1 runesmith-dwarfs.Actually he had 15 miners,18 warriors with GW,18 longbeards with GW,15 slayers,2x10 thunderers,1 cannon,1 thane BsB and some runes,1 thane with some runes,1 runesmith 3 spellbreaker runes and a lord with a deadly kit…

VP difference:1140-230

Overall I finished 19th of 24(first tourney)

Better than me and my friend at our first tourney. We finished, IIRC, 82nd out of 93. But we're back with 40k this year and will pwn. Anyway, on topic - after this you should have found out your lists's shortcomings and therefore be able to fine-tune it. Then go back with a vengeance next year.

Thanks for the report. I'm not really surprised by the result of the battle vs Skaven. you faced one of the more powerful versions of their Skryre list. VC often have big problems with skaven and with your not really broken list you didn't stand a chance against an army like that.

As for the jezzail teams, I've seen armies with 12 to 18 of these so don't complain on facing just 8. could have been worse.

Anyway playing at the GT is a realy good experience, no matter the result. In my first GT I lost 4 battles out of 5 and finished 93rd out of 120players. But at least that taught me a few things and next year it was much better (24th or sth like that).

The only thing that surprises me is that you had just 2 hours for each battle. Did you manage to play 6 turns? I can't even imagine myself doing that in so short time...

I think i found some flaws on my list...first of all,Mannfred wasn't as powerful as a count and necromancer, although he was certainly more fun playing.

2 hours were more than good.In fact the only game that took 2 and a half hours was the one against the ''necromancer counts''.

Indeed it was a great experience that taught me a lot.First,i'll start dwarfs(i'm not a traitor!).Of course i'll paint 60 zombies to raise next year... cool.gif

Well this wasn't a battle or tournament report, just a result post. Would be nice to read about your games. The SAD army was bad but could have been much worse, only 3 Ratling Guns and 8 Jezzails, and no WLC’s. Leaves him counting on the fickle winds of magic quite a bit.

Who won in the Dwarf match?

Nice balanced list, shame about that SAD army but what can you do?

Hope you had fun at the GT.

Got any pictures?
