At my last tournament I was at I noticed a fellow Vampire player trying to fly is Vargulf. I had to inform him right away what he was doing was wrong. When I told him he was completely astonished. He wouldn't believe me at all until I made him read the Vargulf's rules.
After reading the rules he agreed but wasn't happy. He told me afterwards that he assumed that because it had wings it could fly. Thinking back to when the 7th edition Vampire Counts came out I remember looking at the Vargulf and instantly getting a rush of joy only to have it crushed by the reading of his rules. Anyone else experience this problem in their area? |

Not with the Varghulf, but with Dragon Ogres.
One of our local power gamers (plays fast and loose with the rules, fields armies with 27 Fanatics, etc.) was at an RTT once playing a Chaos army. He was playing that, because the Dragon Ogre models had wings, they could fly. This was before Dragon Ogres had rules in an actual army book. One of his opponents knew it was wrong, but he didn't have the WD issue for proof (seems kind of silly that the guy playing the DO didn't have the rules either). After that game, the opponent and some of his friends went and bought the WD to carry around for the rest of the tournament so that anyone could show the guy that Dragon Ogres CANNOT fly. |
