Silverface sat at the edge of the water, her fur drenched, and a heavy scowl on her wide face. As an apprentice she had never been a good hunter, and now as a new warrior she had improved very little. It was as if the creatures of the forest were mocking her.
Moments earlier she had spotted a fish and did as her mentor had taught her, remain still, be patient, and strike true. Her strike was everything but true, she misjudged, her claws scraping through empty water, the weight of her body causing her to tumble forward into the cold water.
She shook herself again, the little droplets splattering against the rocks around her. She couldn't go back to camp with no kills at all, it would be disgraceful, and there was no lack of pray to blame it on.
A weary sigh escaped her as she raked her tongue across her wet fur to dry it. She figured she would move down a little further and try again for fish. It was about the only thing she could catch, mice and other things were to quick for the heavy set warrior.
Forcing herself to pep up she strolled down a ways, green eyes scanning the water for any signs of prey. She found another fish, much smaller than the first. "Better than nothing." she mumbled, starting to feel a slight chill seeping into her damp fur.
Trying to think fast thoughts she struck out, smacking the fish against the rocks. The thing was stunned for a small instant but she took her chance and yanked it from the water, being sure to kill it before it could flop back into the water.
She had learned that hard lesson as a young apprentice. She stashed her kill and returned to the water, determined to get another. "Gonna be a long day." she huffed.

Silverstreak was rather fond of taking walks on her own. She never strayed too far from the camp and made sure that she had gone out on at least one patrol that day but.... it was just oh so relaxing and she couldn't quite resist the temptation.
However, she really wasn't alone this afternoon. She had heard Silverface and crept up to see what was going on. She saw the fish escape and saw the frustration that washed over the other shecat as well. Perhaps she should simply leave her be til she cools off?
The small, plush she-cat had moved farther upstream and had been washing herself on top of a rock when Silverface made another appeareance. Obviously leaving the other she-cat alone just wasn't what starclan had in mind.
She spoke up, her voice sounding just as soft and kind as she looked.
"Great catch! I always have trouble hitting them hard enough to stun them."
She got to her paws and hopped down the rocks, coming to stand near her clanmate.

Friendly yellow-green eyes shined a bit at the other she-cats more chipper then expected response.... perhaps company was in order for today's little walk about the stream?
"I like to walk along the water and listen to the sounds of it and my surroundings. It's rather peaceful actually. I try and make sure my shadow doesn't touch the water.... just in case anyone happens to be hunting at the time."
She sat down once again and curled her plush looking tail around herself and over her paws.
"How about you... why are you hunting alone?"

Her ears perked a bit at what Silverface had to say.... and it made her like the other she-cat all the more. A warrior who wasn't afraid to admit they weren't good at everything? That was definitely her type of cat.
She flicked up her tail to rest it lightly on her clanmate's shoulder.
"We've all got our strong points. I can scoop a fish out of shallow water no problem.... but I can't quite get it with the strength to stun it.... short legs aren't good for that. I think you might just need to work on your approach a bit. Much easier to fix then short legs."
Her whiskers twitched and reflected the humor in her voice. Silverstreak just couldn't pass up an opportunity to help one of her clanmates.
