"Bane, let me tell you a story." "Alright, Haze." The kit settled down as his littermate began to fill his mind with tales. "Once, there was an evil she-cat who wanted to find something." Young Haze's meow turned grave. "She was so obsessed with her quest that she wanted no distractions. So when she got pregnant, she made sure her kits were dead. "But one of them is alive..." Bane... BANE! The tom shuddered awake, his heart thundering with anguish. The memory of burying those dead kits was still so fresh. No, Bane thought. Neither of them was alive. They were both dead... He glanced at his sleeping mate, glad that he at least had her. -------------------- Babysitting!

Slow down...I can't keep up! "Mama! Mama!" What was Scar doing here? A she-cat appeared. One Bane did not recognize. She had silver and tawny fur, and her lovely green eyes held tender affection for Mouse. His kit hugged the she-cat's front paws, and the she-cat bent down to lap at Mouse's dark pelt. What is this? Haze, stop torturing me like this! It's bad enough we lost our sons... "Yes, Bane. You did lose your sons, but your daughter...she is just that. Lost. You can find her!" I don't believe you. I don't believe any of this! You are just a lingering thought in my mind! A memory. None of what you've shown me is real! "Father!" "Please..."
