I went to see Deathly Hallows Part 1 today.

1. OMG we see more Nagini. Too bad about Charity Burbage. I liked her in the one minute she was alive.

2. Aww...Hermione didn't just modify her parents' memories...She Obliviated them...Seeing her disappear from the family pictures was heart-rending.

3. Seven Potters scene.......WHOOT, WE SEE HIM TAKE IT ALL OFF...almost...LoL at Fleur's, "Don't look at me, Bill. I'm 'ideous!"

4. BILL!

5. HEDWIG, NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

6. George is...Saintlike... (they actually kept that in!!! YAY!)

7. Ginny's still taller than Harry...

8. Ginny: Could you zip me up, Harry?
Harry: *drool/eatface*
George: a-HEM.

9. Kreacher not only brings Mundungus Fletcher to Grimmauld Place. He brings DOBBY!!!!

10. [while infiltrating the ministry]
Ron: My wife is all alone down there!

11. Ron gets splinched, and along with wearing the Horcrux, and watching Harry and Hermione plotting together and it gives him PMS.

12. [while giving Harry a haircut]
Hermione:...Oh my GOD.
Harry: WHAT?! [instantly checks his head]

13. Ron: Screw you guys. I'm going HOME.

14. While listening to the radio one evening, Harry pulls the Horcrux offa Hermione and invites her to dance. And they do. Adorably. It's Harry's quiet way of saying, "It's okay. I'm still your friend, and I'm here for you!"

15. EEEWW, NAGINI WAS COMING OUT OF BATHILDA BAGSHOT'S MOUTH!!!

16. Harry gets down to his boxers as he's about to jump into the frozen river....NICE.

17. RON'S BACK!!!!!!

18. Holy........Riddle-Harry and Riddle-Hermione were making out....in the NUDE....It made me go "WTF?! But...it's HARRY and HERMIONE! MAKING OUT! NAKED!! IT'S LIKE....INCEST, IS WHAT IT IS!!" But it helped capture that part of the book well, and I FELT for Ron.

19. The real Hermione proceeds to throw stuff at Ron. And he tells her that the light from the Deluminator, powered by HER voice, flowed into his heart and let him find them again. Awwwwwwww...

20. TALE OF THE THREE BROTHERS WAS ANIMATED!!

21. Bellatrix carves 'mudblood' onto Hermione's arm....ouch.

22. DOBBY, NOOO!!!! T_T

23. Voldemort takes the Elder Wand and casts a spell into the sky...Credits roll.

Also, some deep thought from me on the canon pairings.

Ron/Hermione has become my favorite pairing in the story. It was developed well throughout the books, and just came to its greatest climax in 'Deathly Hallows.' Plus, Rupert Grint is smexy.

Harry/Ginny
First off, I'm glad these two got together and had their kiddies. But I just felt it could have been much better developed in both the books and the films. I don't really have a problem with Ginny's character. She can't really be called a Mary-Sue just because she's got great strength and confidence.

It's called growing up and making a name for herself! She's had to do that all her life, growing up in a house full of boys, and especially after that disaster with the diary.

The last thing on Harry's mind is girls, keep in mind, so he can't exactly notice EVERY girl in the vicinity. Cho shows up and she seems like the greatest thing ever! Of course, she's all weepy for Cedric, so she's a DUD. Ginny, like most girls, has her share of boyfriends. That's not a bad thing, is it?

Then 'Half Blood Prince' comes out and Ginny and Harry practically FALL into each other's arms in a split second Not much development in that book other than Ginny telling him not to trust the Potions Book. They have the time of their lives for the rest of the year.

Of course, in 'Deathly Hallows,' they make out YET AGAIN, and after the Trio make a run for it, Harry doesn't really think about Ginny for about 200 pages, then for another 200 pages.

It's great that they ended up marrying, but so much is left to speculation, unlike Ron and Hermione's relationship. Of course, there's off-screen/page development before they marry, but none that makes sense to the readers.

I think Rowling was counting on that we, the readers, keep in mind that Ginny's always stood by him. Remember Dumbledore's Army? The Department of Mysteries? Gryffindor Quidditch Team? The Final Battle?

Ginny ending up with Neville would've been okay with me. (he ends up with Hannah Abbott. Not the nicest Hufflepuff around.)

Harry ending up with Luna would've also been...okay-ish. But she seems a bit too much for Harry to keep up with. He's pretty much grounded on earth and she's high above the clouds all the time.

Cho with Harry is NOT an option...

Parvati Patil...would have been nice had the Yule Ball not been such a fiasco...Oh my god, I just got ideas....O_O

Katie Bell. They were teammates, but this, alas, had no romantic development.

Tonks.............too old for him.

Gabrielle Delacour...that one would've been interesting to see.

Moaning Myrtle. OH HELL NO!!!

Harry/Ginny is an okay canon pairing because it was pretty much expected...but it needed more development.

Before I get into anything else I just have to say, I BAWLED when Dobby died. Seriously, I had a cascade of tears streaming down my cheeks. It was a little frightening.

I cannot tell you how glad I am that they gave George Weasley such good lines in this movie. He was always my favorite twin, so seeing him get the spot light for a little while had me satisfied. When Harry and Ginny are making out and he's watching them with a cup of tea... XDDDDDDDDDDD

Also, Aeria, I must agree, the seven Harrys scene was PRICELESS.

And can we just get three cheers here for Rupert Grint and Emma Watson? Lets just be honest, it's not about Daniel Radcliffe anymore. Those two worked off each other brilliantly.

In the opening sequence when they show the three of them seperately, I couldn't stop thinking about them in the earlier movies when they're "wee little things" (XD). It was a really powerful effect. And when Hermione Oblivates her parent's memory? That was just beautiful.

THANK GOD SOMEONE ELSE THOUGHT THE SAME THING I DID ABOUT THE NUDE MAKE OUT SCENE. I was actually really looking forward to that scene, so when they ditched their shirts I was just disgusted. It was gross, man. Just wrong. I felt terrible for poor Ron, though.

The addition of 'Mudblood' in Bellatrix's torture was really powerful. I thought it was an excellent move. It might not have been as powerful in the book, so I don't really mind that it wasn't written in, but in the movie? Perfect.

In fact, all in all my only complaint with this movie is the fact that they took out Kreacher's story. I was really looking forward to that, so when they skipped over it with just a bit of background history I was really disappointed. They clearly assume that the watcher has read the books and, honestly, chances are they have, but still.

And I loved the animation for the three brothers! :D

I was seriously wigged-out by the Harry-Hermione scene. SERIOUSLY.

And you know what I noticed? As gory and creepy and frightening (not to me) as most of those scenes were.. There were moms and dads and FOUR YEAR OLDS everywhere!! Honestly, what were they thinking? HP isn't exactly Teletubbies!

I will now ask you to once again bear one of my long rants.

Ginny Weasley

I am in this girl's camp. Completely. I disagree with her classification as a Mary-Sue just because of her character growth. What did you expect, another Hermione? There's only ONE Hermione, just like there is one Ginny Weasley. Upon re-reading the series, she catches my eye as one of the first Weasleys introduced, and I am repeatedly charmed by her closeness with her brothers.

She has a crush on Harry in Chamber of Secrets, but she helps unleash horrors on Hogwarts that pretty much threaten to bring an end to her own life. I still forgive her because of her near-death and obvious remorse upon realizing what the Diary has made her do. It was a mistake made by a nervous child who probably feels as outshined by her talented brothers as Ron does. Ginny NEVER forgets what she nearly did, and this propels her into following Hermione's example as someone who doesn't take any crap from anyone.

As of Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix, and Half-Blood Prince, Ginny has a reputation as a "man eater." Big deal, so she shows an ounce of dating-confidence that Hermione is a bit lacking in (don't forget about Cormac and Viktor). This doesn't make her loose or anything like that. I know plenty of girls who have jumped from boyfriend to boyfriend. It's called teenage dating. It's not her fault Harry has next to no romantic expertise. There's no malice in her relationships, unlike Ron's (COUGHLav-LavCOUGH).

Ginny's an essential part of Dumbledore's Army, with an array of hexes at her disposal that she excels at using. She's on par with Angelina, Alicia, and Harry himself with her Chaser/Seeker skills. With a house full of boys, how else is she going to make herself known? Does that make her a Mary-Sue? No. That makes her a girl in charge of her life, knowing what she wants.

Her relationship with Harry is one that I will staunchly support as strongly as I support Ron/Hermione and Draco/Astoria. Ginny supports him undoubtedly and is quick to point out mistakes he makes, helping him become stronger and letting him realize what he has to do if he wants to win the war against Voldemort. In Deathly Hallows she is one of many reasons for him to do what he can, and becomes a driving force for him. This relationship and eventual marriage, along with Ron/Hermione and Draco/Astoria, embody the idea of a force more powerful than death throughout the series: love. A love that saved Harry. A love that helped Harry protect his allies during his final encounter with Voldemort.

On that note, I am lowering the James/Lily/Snape flag. JAMES/LILY ALL THE WAY. While his characterization is one of my favorites in the series, there are some things I cannot forgive Snape for. So many times his hatred of James outweighs his love for Lily, and he makes Harry pay for it through Gryffindor's position in the House Championship and Sirius's fate.

Also, Lily chose James for a reason. Saint Lupin and our Beloved Martyr Sirius were just as guilty of teasing Snape as James was, and they're among the most honorable characters in the series. People change, just as James changed from the self-righteous boy on the Hogwarts Express to a man Lily loved and who Harry could be proud of and look up to.

Finally.....I AM SO GLAD DRACO DID NOT END UP WITH PANSY PARKINSON.

Today I witnessed the end of childhood. I witnessed the end of all those months of waiting for trailers, sneak peeks, and the actual film itself. I witnessed the end of a film series that is the ideal adaptation of a book series that made history and had the same effect on its eager audience.


1) It began with a beautiful piece of music now known as 'Lily's Theme,' and the titles appeared on screen. And...was it just me, or was Snape wearing eyeshadow?

2) Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix/Hermione is brilliant. I loved Bonham Carter's performance as both herself and awkward Hermione who can't walk in heels. RON HAS FACIAL HAIR. XD

4) Griphook, you stoopid. And HOLY--VOLDEMORT KILLED THE GOBLINS.

5) ABERFORTH!!! Ariana looks pretty, but they didn't include the Dumbledore story.

6) WE ARE IN HOGWARTS ONCE MORE!!!

25) 19 Years Later...Cute actors for the kids, excellent makeup on Harry, Ginny, Hermione, Ron (hur hur he has a tummy), and Draco. I LOVE how they used the theme 'Leaving Hogwarts' from the first film in this scene just as the kids are waving goodbye to their parents. It's off to Hogwarts for a new generation.



I loved it so much and was not disappointed. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Ralph Fiennes, and the entire cast were just extraordinary. After 10 years of amazing film adaptations, the wait is over. Now, I will re-read the books, re-watch the movies, and keep fangirling over the whole thing.

And yes, I totally yelled "MISCHIEF MANAGED" at the end.

I also think the film implied Neville getting together with Luna which, in my humble opinion, is GREAT!!!!! They're perfect together!!!
