(Full article isn't available, so I typed the highlights here. Excellent article that shows that some in Canada think Bush/Cheney have lost it, like many of us do. It's too bad that PM Stephen Harper is a Bush fan. I guess that shows you how smart Harper is for him to support the worst President in history.) rolleyes.gif

"This White House talk of World War III can't be happening. Not after the lessons of Iraq. Not possible. But it's happening, it's real, it's crazy - and there's hardly a peep from this country. (Canada)

These guys are out of control, says Douglas Roche, our former disarmament ambassador, of the latest Bush-Cheney sabre-rattling on Iran - of their war-as-a-first-resort mentality. "OUT OF CONTROL."

Mr. Roche, Romeo Dallaire and other crusaders for peace and disarmament were gathered in the House of Commons on Tuesday evening, attending the launch of Roche book "Global Conscience."

He explains that, "Just as corporal punishment is not an acceptable way of disciplining children, violence and physical aggression are not an acceptable way of resolving disputes between nations."

Tell that to a White House that, after Iraq, is threatening again to shoot now, ask questions later. "If you're interested in avoiding World War III," President Bush advised last week, you better prevent Iran from having "the knowledge necessary" to get nuclear weapons. Note that they don't say, "have to have such weapons" but just the knowledge on how to have them. That alone is enough to trigger a US assault that, as Mr. Bush says, could evolve into a worldwide conflagration.

"It's his doctrine of pre-emption - the one with the terrific track record." rolleyes.gif

"The danger, some were saying, is that this man, facing the prospect of going down as one of the worst presidents ever, may be prepared - he thinks God is on his side - to take some wild stab at image salvation."

"Mr. Bush will be gone in little more than a year. There is no likelihood of Iran having deployable nuclear weapons in this time frame. There is no need to force a showdown at this point. But he stokes the flames and allies don't have the courage to speak out."

"The goal is to have Iran submit forever to a brutally uneven playing field - the one that says the United States, Britain, Pakistan and Israel can have nuclear weapons and Iran can't."
