Title: Deer Contest Teams
Joe - September 1, 2007 04:18 AM (GMT)
These are the teams for the contest. I know there is an odd amount of people but I have one person in mind who might want in. If no one can fill in the spot, I'll have to jump in.
Team 1
- WIDave
- JakeD
- 11 P&YBowhunter
- 7mm Magnum
- PA RidgeRunner
Team 2
- WhitetailLady
- ADjam5
- charles m
- Travis
- Herbie
Whoever sees these teams first should make a Team thread in the Contests Forum and get together to vote on a team name. PM me with the team name once it is decided and I'll edit the original post for ya.
Good luck to everyone!!!
Jake D. - September 3, 2007 01:45 AM (GMT)
Teams look good. Chad it's killin' time!
charles m - September 3, 2007 12:58 PM (GMT)
allright i have to start the trash talking now. Jake you goin down :D
Jake D. - September 4, 2007 02:45 AM (GMT)
Yeah we'll see! I have the chance to shoot 3 deer weighing in at under 50 pounds out here and maybe one will have nubs to make me be able to get 4 under 50 pounds!
ADjam5 - September 4, 2007 09:29 PM (GMT)
OOOOOOOO! :D This is gonna get good!
I'm dang glad we don't have to compete against Chad on this one ;)
It'd be like having to pitch to Barry Steriods at the bottom of the ninth and loaded bases with no outs :P
Good Luck everyone!
Joe - September 6, 2007 02:11 AM (GMT)
Hey everyone.. Herbie joined up in the contest and is on Team 2.
Jake D. - September 6, 2007 02:39 AM (GMT)
You do have to compete against Chad. He's with me on team 1! I'd rather pitch to Bonds in the bottom of the ninth with bases loaded than the same scenario with David Ortiz! Go Red Sox!
11P&YBOWHUNTER - September 6, 2007 12:50 PM (GMT)
If herbie shoots a 200 class nontypical off of my secret watering hole, it is disqualified!! But if i shoot it, i am gonna rub it in all your faces! :ugh:
Jake, good luck with the dogs...errrr i mean deer that you intend on blasting at. Hope you get lucky and give one of them a Heart Attack!!
WhitetailLady - September 6, 2007 02:40 PM (GMT)
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, the trash talking has begun!!!!!!!!! :D
charles m - September 6, 2007 03:46 PM (GMT)
This is gonna get good :D
Jake D. - September 7, 2007 02:42 AM (GMT)
Chad you know we're on the same team right? But I do plan on trying venison veal this year. It's either that or goose and for those of you who haven't had it, goose really sucks.
WhitetailLady - September 7, 2007 01:56 PM (GMT)
Jake, goose is like venison.........you have to know how to prepare it. I've got some recipes I can send you if you like.
WIDave - September 7, 2007 04:53 PM (GMT)
Best way to make Goose is to turn it into Jerky just like you would venison.
Jake D. - September 8, 2007 02:18 AM (GMT)
I heard about jerky. Gonna do that I think. I have 3 birds (6 breasts) in the freezer now. Colleen you know my e-mail right? You can send them to me. Thanks for any of them that make them not taste like crap!
PA RIDGE RUNNER - September 9, 2007 08:46 PM (GMT)
I ain't much into trash talking or such but from the looks of it Team 1 is made up of a real fearsome bunch. At least I am fearsome. I am so fearsome I scare myself when I look into a mirror.
OK team 1 we ought to be able to slam team 2 right onto the deer trail, gentle like of course we don't want anyone hurt or nothing like that. So far it looks like all my deer hunting will be done in PA this year. Hey if I shoot two turkeys in Kansas in october can I enter them? Those greenhorns in team two prolly won't know the diff anyhoo.
All jokeing aside good luck to team 2 you are going to need it I just got drawn for 3 doe tags along with a buck tag this year, and oh yea my freezer is empty as my wallet.
WhitetailLady - September 10, 2007 02:45 PM (GMT)
Jake, just looked for it and it will take me forever to find it in the 1000's of e-mail addresses I have. Send it to me again. tompkinsdeer@yahoo.com
PA Ridge Runner, my 5 tags beat your 4. :D
Joe, any bonus points for say a non-typical deer........non-typical meaning a piebald?

Yes but my UNLIMITED tags beat ALL.
Every doe I shoot gets me another buck tag. Doe tags are FREE and I will be starting the season with 4. I can go down to the store (about 2 miles away) and pick up as many as I want, whenever I want. I should have a doe to enter for Team 1 (called team 1 because that is where we will finish) on Saturday. Then I will just bump it off for whatever buck I get and go from there.
Jake D. - September 10, 2007 09:26 PM (GMT)
Ok well my unlimited goose bag limits (other than 8 a day in September then 3 a day in the regular and late seasons) beat your unlimited deer tags! lol We're on the same team so I'm not gonna argue. I have 2 doe permits, 1 bow/muzzle. buck or doe and 1 regular buck. If I do end up buying a muzzleloader I'll go back to get the permit and get another doe tag and I can always have my uncle or grandpa sign me over 2 more doe permits. So I can have 7 tags but I'll probably not have any signed over and I probably won't buy a muzzleloader.
Colleen I'll e-mail ya.
Herbie - September 12, 2007 02:38 AM (GMT)
Let me count the tags, I can have 27 mule deer doe tags, 5 whitetail tags with no more than 3 being bucks, unlimited exotic deer as we have no season or bag limit. Come to think of it, I may just shoot one tomorrow because I can. No harm in getting a jump start on the killin'. I'll even donate the meat to someone that needs it. Nay, tomorrow is a wild hog eradication hunt. Somebody done twisted my arm to come shoot as many hogs as I can find. Rough life, but somebody has to do it.
11P&YBOWHUNTER - September 12, 2007 05:17 AM (GMT)
Herbie, thats wrong...you do not have enough shells for all them tags. I am gonna have to go with you and bring 2boxes of shells!! :) :gun2:
Joe - September 12, 2007 10:13 AM (GMT)
To answer everyone's questions..
Colleen.. no extra points for a piebald.
Herbie.. The scoring is going to be done like this.. a deer is 5 pts automatically. Buck or doe. Then a buck gets another point for each antler point over 1".
Say someone shoots a doe first thing in the season and enters it. Then a few weeks later they take a buck. They can upgrade from the doe to the buck in order to get more points for their team.
Make sense?
ADjam5 - September 12, 2007 07:45 PM (GMT)
That is if you shoot a buck that is over 5 pts EASTERN scoring right? Because if it weren't over 5 pts , the doe would count as the same as the 5 pt buck.
Right?
Jake D. - September 13, 2007 01:47 AM (GMT)
If I ever go to Texas to visit my aunt and uncle I may have to get a hold of you Herbie!
Herbie - September 14, 2007 01:08 PM (GMT)
Adjam, the buck gets 5 then add a point per point, ie an eight point is 13 points in the contest.
Jake, OK. Remember TX is BIG. They could be 12 or more hours away.
WhitetailLady - September 14, 2007 01:21 PM (GMT)
Way to go Herbie!!!!!!!!!
Herbie be da man!!!!!!!!! Got Team Terminator on the board right off!!!!!
Jake D. - September 14, 2007 09:39 PM (GMT)
I know it is. They're in Mission I think south of Houston? Not 100% sure. Are you close to there?
Herbie - September 15, 2007 07:34 PM (GMT)
Mission, TX is 6.5 hours SW of Houston. Good hunting area. Big buck area. You should do a little scmoozing and get lined out on a S TX hunt.
Jake D. - September 16, 2007 01:44 AM (GMT)
Well, I doubt we'll be going there soon. I've never been there in the 10+ years they've lived there! I was in Texas once. I was 3.
Herbie - September 23, 2007 06:29 AM (GMT)
You should try it again. Nice place to raise a family.
ADjam5 - September 23, 2007 07:44 PM (GMT)
How about retirement Herbie?
Texas is one of the places on my list to consider retirement.
Jake D. - September 24, 2007 01:33 AM (GMT)
Herbie - September 26, 2007 01:48 PM (GMT)
Jake, never to young to start planning your future. Finish high school, college, get a good job and then transfer to TX.
Adjam, TX is a great place to live/retire. The "Hill Country" is a retirement mecca. They actually have seasons. Low humidity. Lots of game. Hope you can come visit before you retire. I would love to show you my little piece of heaven.
The guy that is drilling the post holes, showed up last weekend. He got about 40% of the drilling done for the new run. He plans on coming back in 2 weeks to finish. A long slow process.
ADjam5 - September 26, 2007 04:22 PM (GMT)
Herbie, I can guarantee you; I will be visiting Texas in the next few years if not sooner.
buckblaster19 - November 15, 2007 04:43 PM (GMT)
Any spots on the teams open?
ADjam5 - November 15, 2007 05:28 PM (GMT)
Hmmm... Ya know Ron. I think Joe closed it.
But! We are giving away a prize( Cold Steel Knife) for the biggest buck.
So, if the team thing is over at least there is a contest that individuals can be in.
Here is the prize link.
