Title: Team #1 - Bone Smashers

Jake D. - September 12, 2008 04:05 AM (GMT)
Well, it looks like this one is over before it even began! We have the Buffalo man from Texas (speaking of that do buffalo count?!?!?) the turkey killer from PA who helped our turkey team to dominate, and 7mm who has the big bucks running in from all over Michigan! And me, I'm just here to coach as we've all seen what I've done in past deer contests! So boys, any ideas on a team name?

PA RIDGE RUNNER - September 17, 2008 11:49 PM (GMT)
I will have to think for a while on the name thing. I do have some good news though. I am leaving for a couple of weeks to hunt in Kansas with a muzzleloader. I now have a crossbow to use in PAs archery season and all together can get two deer in Kansas and three in PA. That means I can hunt from next Monday till about mid january with only a few days between seasons.

Jake D. - September 25, 2008 01:37 AM (GMT)
Oh team... how about a name? I still have no clue.

charles m - September 25, 2008 01:58 PM (GMT)
Buck assassins RULE!!!!!!

buckblaster19 - September 25, 2008 03:30 PM (GMT)

charles m - September 25, 2008 05:33 PM (GMT)
We gotta start the trash talking now :P :D

Jake D. - September 26, 2008 03:03 AM (GMT)
Yeah we'll see. I'll be hunting Steuben County this year with the bow and rifle so you all are in trouble!

Jake D. - October 28, 2008 05:13 PM (GMT)
Ok it's time to get our team thread going. Team name hmmm... how about Team Give Em' The Shaft? No pun intended

Herbie - November 17, 2008 05:11 PM (GMT)
Jake, LOL. That was a good one.

Jake D. - November 25, 2008 05:04 AM (GMT)
Herbie, you and 7mm Mag need to get on page here. Put some meat on the ground! LOL. It's ok, we're only 3 points out of first, even a doe will jump us up to first! (I know that we're all waiting to upgrade/enter our big deer until the end so they don't see us coming!)

GLW - November 25, 2008 11:25 PM (GMT)
3pts out Jake? Joe hasn't added Daves deer yet! :P :P :P Now get out there and get the big ones "Bone Smashers"! ;)

Jake D. - November 26, 2008 05:14 AM (GMT)
Well I didn't take Dave's into account. I only went by the standings page. Ok team, we need about 15 to take the lead!

Herbie - November 26, 2008 01:48 PM (GMT)
OK, I'll see what I can do to help level the playing field. I almost took a freaky spike last weekend. Just didn't have the time to deal with him after the shot.

Herbie - November 27, 2008 06:16 AM (GMT)
Actually we are down by 10. Couple of does would even the score :gun2: . I'll try and score the 1st weekend in Dec. Mule Deer Season opens up.

Jake D. - November 27, 2008 02:34 PM (GMT)
Sounds like a plan Herbie. I'm trying to take a big old non-typical with 25+ points. Let's see Paul's team catch us then!

Herbie - December 1, 2008 04:22 AM (GMT)
Uh Oh! I found my AXIS. They are coming into a special little spot that I have lined up. There is a nice little 6 pt with my name on it. That would give us about 11 points and a small lead. I think I should ventilate him next week end. :gun2:

Jake D. - December 1, 2008 05:37 PM (GMT)
Sounds like a plan Herbie! Go get him!

PA RIDGE RUNNER - December 2, 2008 11:13 PM (GMT)
Oh man I almost updated my point count. I got two shots at a nice 10 point yesterday while it was moving in heavy brush. I missed but my son got it anyway so it stayed in the family just not mine.

Herbie - December 3, 2008 05:45 PM (GMT)
hard knocks, Paul
Better luck next time.

WIDave - December 3, 2008 06:35 PM (GMT)
Well congrats to your son then. Post a pic so we can see.

Herbie - December 8, 2008 04:26 AM (GMT)
11 points to our total. 6 pt cull buck. No brow tines. G2s are 12". G3s are 10". Will upload pictures tomorrow.

Jake D. - December 8, 2008 02:38 PM (GMT)
Nice job Herbie!!! Can't wait for the pics. Paul, you guys are going down!

Herbie - December 9, 2008 02:15 AM (GMT)

PA RIDGE RUNNER - December 9, 2008 02:24 AM (GMT)

Go get 'em Terry.

Herbie - December 12, 2008 03:04 AM (GMT)
Thanks Joe

Only down by 7. we can catch up pretty quick with a few more better bucks. Terry can bag an 8 pt and I will try and up grade my buck. Sure would hate for Brian to have to redo the names on our calls. :D

Jake D. - December 12, 2008 03:39 AM (GMT)
And who knows, maybe I put some NY record non typical 50 point down with the muzzleloader?!? Ok it probably won't happen but ya never know!

Herbie - December 13, 2008 06:53 AM (GMT)
That a boy Jake, keep thinking positive. I would be OK to "settle" for a 20 point typical. Best of luck to you this weekend. Everyone else, have a great weekend, and put some meat in the freezer before Ol' Man Winter turns the other cheek.

PA RIDGE RUNNER - December 13, 2008 09:02 PM (GMT)
Today is the last day of our modern rifle deer season. I did get a doe this morning but guess that won't add to our total. That makes 3 does for me this fall but was not yet blessed with a shootable buck.
My son Eric and I went out this morning to a spot and sat down but another guy was set up just below us so we got up and left there. We walked to the top of the ridge and sat down overlooking a big bench that was a natural travel corrider for the deer. We didn't sit there for more than 20 minutes and 2 deer came up to us. We both had doe tags but I had a buck and a doe tag so I took the biggest of the two. Man that 7mm mag with 160 gr partitions really nail them. The doe went about 18 inches--straight down. I still have a couple of weeks after Christmas which is our Flintlock muzzleloader season so don't count me out just yet. Man I am tired as I hunted about 4 days a week now for two weeks. Time to rest up the old bod for another try.

I don't have a pic up yet so just remove 7mms ugly and substitute my ugly mug in his pic. Sorry 7mm I just had to do that.

Jake D. - December 14, 2008 02:26 AM (GMT)
Herbie, I guess I could settle for a 20 point typical. In reality we would get the same score for it! I have 2 more days to hunt, Monday and Tuesday. I took off Monday to hunt so I can hunt Monday morning before my last class and then Monday night and I don't work or have classes Tuesday so I'll be hunting the morning, pushing every piece of land we have during the day, and then sit in the evening. Hopefully put something down, even if it's only a doe.

Paul, congrats on the doe. And good luck with the flintlock.

Herbie - December 24, 2008 04:42 AM (GMT)
Jake, No 20 pointer??? Sorry. Maybe next year.

Jake D. - December 24, 2008 09:09 PM (GMT)
Nope didn't happen unfortunately.

Herbie - December 30, 2008 07:56 PM (GMT)
Heading out new years day for the final weekend of 2008 whitetail season. Wish me luck.
