Title: Remington 1100 Slug gun
11P&YBOWHUNTER - July 18, 2009 08:08 PM (GMT)
I have a Remington 1100 Slug gun which i built last year to be my ultimte slug gun. It is the Skeet edition (fancy design on receiver) 1100 and has a Ram Line camo stock and forearm. There is two barrels that go with it...the normal 28 inch modified bird barrel and a brand new Hastings Paradox Muzzle Brake barrel. The Hastings Paradox is one of the most expensive slug barrels out there and is touted to be one of the most accurate.
With Lightfield slugs, some of the most accurate and tightest grouping slugs on the market, i personally have gotten 1.75 inch groups at 100 yards. In Outdoor Life last year, there was an article on slugs and Lightfields were easily the best grouping slugs, which is why i went with them.
There is no rust on the receiver and slug barrel and as for the bird barrel, i would not know, it has been in the back of my gun vault since i bought it.
The ramline stock and forearm was 80 dollars from Cabelas, and the Hastings Slug barrel was 399. For both barrels and the gun, NO SCOPE, i would like 550 for the gun. I will be in NY the middle of August or i can make arrangements to get the gun to you personally. The gun is an excellent slug gun and would stay in my closet if it was not for me being stubborn and left handed. The receiver is right handed and i figure i might as well have a left handed gun if i intend to keep it for the rest of my life which is what i was thinking i was gonna do with this gun.
Pics will be up in a day or two...

If I loan you my 7800GVW enclosed horse/stock trailer and truck to move with.... how much of a discount would you be willing to offer? :D

Herbie, Since we are such good friends, 600 for the gun and i promise to return the truck and trailer with the same amount of miles on it and not to mention, the fact that i will not even stink it up on the way back either. I have been know to give vehicles a permanent odor all of its own!!

I thought you would at least giv me a B-I-L deal, double the price and then give me 50% off

OK...so how about this Herbie... the gun goes for 669, the barrel goes for 399 and the ramline stock goes for 79. Add all that up and you got 1147 dollars. I will give you half off which means you pay 573.50 and i will even throw in 3 slugs...the first group is on me!

I'm still trying to figure how ya went from $550 to $573.50? :P
Is that hastings a cantilever barrel? Did you buy the gun brand new?

I went up in the price but thats just for Herbie.
The barrel is a cantilever fully rifled barrel from Hastings. It has a huge muzzle brake on the end of it too. I bought the barrel and the stock/forearm brand new but the receiver is not brand new. I used it for one season but did not even get out much with it. I can send you pics if you wanna see what it looks like.

I forgot to add,...it has a 2 3/4 inch chamber!!! In Slugs, it makes no difference really, but it would if you wanted to shoot the bird barrel for turkey. A 3 inch or 3.5 inch shell has more pellets but the trade off would be less velocity than the 2 3/4 inch shell. Sorry for the lack of that tidbit.

Keep in mind a 2 3/4" chamber can safely be lengthened to 3." Gander Mountain does that service for $50.

I just caught this message. I replied back earlier anyway. I'm not into 3" shells anyway, no need for them unless you want more punch for turkey or geese.
With todays world of sabot deer slugs, 2 3/4 at 100 yards is more than plenty. ;)

With those slugs Paul, I shoot 2 3/4" rifled slugs to 150 without hesitation and still have no issues.

Chad, your stepdad is a really nice guy and talks very highly of you. :)
I put a bushnell trophy scope on it and with 6 shots (3 shots to windage the rings and 3 adjustments on the scope) had it hitting 2 inches high at 50 yards! ;) Thats one accurate barrel for sure! I like those lightfields also.
Good doing business with a pal! Nice elk your that Jay shot also!
11P&YBOWHUNTER - October 11, 2009 09:36 AM (GMT)
Glad you liked it! It is a little heavy but is a shooter for sure!!!
Herbie - October 11, 2009 12:41 PM (GMT)
Paul, glad you are enjoying my gun :o. If you had not bought it, I was going to pick it up next month on my way to NY. I hope you get years of service out of it. Can't wait to see what you take down with it this year.
