Title: New 10/22 Build

11P&YBOWHUNTER - December 10, 2009 02:22 AM (GMT)
Here it is...I am almost finished. All i am lacking is a Custom trigger and a Silencerco Sparrow on the end to quiet things down a bit for close quarters use. Should have the Silencer in about 4 or 5 months and the trigger should be here after the first of the year, it is back ordered.

SAAAAAAAAAAWEEEET!
The fun I could have with that. A gentleman's accessory for sure ;).
Ahem...isn't it called a suppressor? Isn't Silencer a Hollywood term?
I have the same stock on my 10/22. It has a .920 Adams and Bennett heavy bbl.
It looks like yours, but I know it is not the same. I like that over size bolt handle too!
Good Luck with it Chad and the critters better watch out!

Nice tool, what about the hide you have it laid out on? I think I have seen one very similar. What pray tell might that be, a fawn down in the bottom, shot from a truck, in a driveway, of a business inside the city limits? Tell me not

11P&YBOWHUNTER - December 10, 2009 04:25 AM (GMT)
NOT the first to get mowed down out of someones truck in that driveway...and will probably not be the last although a Can on the end will make it seem like nothing happened, except something died of either a headache or a heart attack.

Anthony, we can have Silencers here in Georgia legally. :) Perks of being in a Republican state.

I am not questioning what you can have in Georgia. I would think you can have one of those there. Most likely class 3 weapons also...right?
What I am saying is. Whenever I have heard any pros on TV and in person speak about quieting the sound of a gun. The device was always referred to as a suppressor.
Not a silencer. I was told that you cannot silence a weapon, they all make noise in one way or another. The bolt cannot be silenced.
BUT...the .22LR subsonic load is just about as silenced as you can get. Enjoy it!

I'd like something in .45acp with a suppressor on it. The round is subsonic to begin with and a nice heavy load too.

Very nice Chad.

Herbie - December 10, 2009 06:40 PM (GMT)
A silencer is a marketing ploy, as well as a commonly accepted word for a noise suppressor. whatever you prefer to call it, it is cool on sub-sonic rounds and would not interrupt a normal conversation on a street corner. Will be a sweet "silent" killer. Watch out feral cats.

Chad, you gotta explain the fawn joke above. :D

Fawn Joke above goes like this. Herbie and I go to see a man about some taxidermy work but instead someone has to shoot a poor defenseless spike Axis out the truck window..with a high power rifle...in city limits...during the middle of the day.... OH WELL!!! Meat on the ground!!! :)

Anthony, when you talk about Suppressors, all i think of is the flash suppressor on the end of an M4 or M16...or an AR15 for that matter. I guess then instead of calling ti a silencer, you might as well call it a noise suppressor. Problem is, SilcenrCo and a few other places would probably look at you like a flatlander if you called it a Noise Suppressor. I will stick with Silencer, because with 60 grain Aguila 22lr ammo, a 44db reduction and a locked bolt, Silence is what i expect any back yard critter will hear! :o

The story is that Chad and I were on the way to see a friend at daybreak. On the way into his the shop, from the driveway I see a few Axis down in the bottom. Being in TX, with no Axis season, OK to shoot out of a vehicle on private property. I ask Chad to load and hand me my rifle. All he can see is part of a deer with spots(fawn) from his side of the vehicle. He implores me NOT to shoot the "fawn". After a quick education on Axis, I dropped the almost 200# deer in his tracks. After gutting and carrying this buck out of the valley, I thought we were both gonna have a heart attack. Me from working my short little legs off trying to climb the hill with a deer in tow and poor Chad from laughing at the situation. He just knew we were breaking some type of game law(s). We would be arrested. I would be locked up in TX and he the Brig. Trust me when I say "no laws were bent, much less broken". I carry written permission to hunt the property we were on. My promise to Chad, Tony, Joe, Steve and numerous others that have hunted with me, are all told up front...."when hunting with me, I will not let you get into anymore trouble than I can get you out of". So word to the wise, if I say shoot, pull the trigger. :D We can clean up the mess later.

Chad, is a silencer legal? Or does it have to be within a certain decibel level? :what:

Yes. In GA you can own one but have to wait like 4 months on the ATF to issue a federal tax stamp for it. Once that is paid and the paperwork returns and given to the Class 3 selling gun shop that you purchase it from, You can then take the silencer home! It is legal!

Figured the feds would have their nose in there somewhere! ;)
