I currently have 3 rifles to get sighted in. I do not have a bore sighter and thought I might want to get one. I am looking at a Bushnell laser bore sighter that with various attachments will fit everything from 22 to 50 cal. I have always managed to get the job done fairly easy with a bolt action but I have only one bolt action to do this time. Plus I am planning on putting a peep sight on my flintlock as time permits. Does anyone here have a bore sighter and what kind is it and do you like it.

My father has one Paul, can't remember which brand. But it works great, I've used it on a couple of my guns. I'll see if I can find out for you.

Paul...I have a Laserlyte boresighter that has done dozens of rifles for myself and friends. It does the job well, just like the Bushnell will I am sure. Think I bought it from Midway USA. I also have two small levels to level and plumb the cross hairs. I learned a fine tuning trick from a gunsmith named AJ on the Realtree forums. Have/get ring alignment tools. See pic below.

If your rings are not lined up, neither will your scope be. I spun these up on my friends lathe a while ago. They are 1" aluminum round stock with a 45* point. You can see what they do. If the rings need shimming under the bases...this is the time to do it. You can also get 30mm round stock to do larger rings.

I have known about those two pointed rods but don't have them either.

The UPS driver stopped by today with my bore sighter. It has collets for everything from 22 to 50 cal and as a bonus there were collets for 20 ga and 12 ga in there as well. I tried the laser and it is quite bright and should work very well I got it from Optics Planet online. I like this online store for their good prices and great service.
