Anyone who lives and or hunts in Chenango county(Paul & me) needs to check the updated WMU boundary. The southern portion of wmu 7M is now 7P. My property is now in 7P. Paul Norwich may be included in this. It was all changed due to allowing bear hunting. Here is the 7P boundary description

Wildlife Management Unit 7P
Those parts of Broome and Chenango Counties lying within a continuous line beginning at the intersection of State Routes 26 and Interstate 81 near Whitney Point; thence northeasterly along State Route 26 to US Route 11, thence northwesterly along US Route 11 to State Route 206, thence easterly along State Route 206 to State Route 12 in Greene; thence northerly along State Route 12 to State Route 80 in Sherburne; thence easterly and southeasterly along State Route 80 to State Route 8 at New Berlin; thence southerly along State Route 8 to State Route 7 near Sidney; thence southwesterly along State Route 7 to State Route 79; thence southerly along State Route 79 Interstate 88 near Harpursville; thence westerly along Interstate 88 to Interstate 81 in Binghamton; thence northerly along Interstate 81 to the point of beginning

Assholes! dry.gif I'm on the east side of route 12 by about 5 miles! This sucks! I love how they built that penninsula right up route 12, over 20 to route 8 and back!

What does it have to do with bear hunting Chuck? Isn't bear season coinsiding with the normal archery/muzzle seasons? I'm gonna have to check and see what else has interupted my area! dry.gif
Thanks for the update Chuck! wink.gif

OK, just checked, it didn't change anything with bear hunting in our area.

I'll tell ya Chuck, I'm already hearing hunters say "F*#k the new rates" and will be hunting their properties illegal. 533[1].gif

Paul I meant they realigned the DMP area to coincide where you are allowed to bearhunt. In 7p you can hunt bear. In 7m no bearhunting.

Where did you see that about bear hunting Chuck? Why would the WMU have anything to do with where you can big game hunt? 533[1].gif What if you wanted to go up north? Are they giving out bear permits like they do doe permits?

My mistake you can hunt bear in 7m.If you look in the big game manual where it says bear hunting is allowed. The northern boundary is the northern line of 7m wmu unit. The reasoning was sent to me in a email a couple months back. They said they wanted to split the wmu to better monitor bear harvests.

Ya, thats pretty wild how they split NY in half and won't allow bear hunting right through the center. On the kill report you need to put the township, that should zero them (DEC) in close enough on exactly where you got the bear. smile.gif

Paul I am sure it is only a matter of about 5 years before bear hunting will be legal in most of the state. Did you get your license yet. Cost me $99 for the super sportsman. Thank god Cody still could get the junior hunter for $5.
