Ok I know that it is only January but as this year is just beginning I find we are over half way through this month. Our deer seasons are all wrapped up and for some, in the freezer. I had a ball deer hunting most of December and till 9 January so far this year. What was so encouraging to me was how often I sighted either turkey evidence or the turkeys themselves. One particular bird that my good friend Phil and I walked up on and it was a huge bearded old tom that sounded like a B-52 trying to take off from the brush pile with its big long beard swinging wildly as it gained altitude. Man that was enough to get the turkey hunting juices flowing in a flood. Of course plans are already underway to go to Kansas and pursue a turkey or two in mid April.

I hear ya Paul. We are still hunting Axis, but a long beard in early April would be nice.

Ahhh...Gobbler mode huh Paul? smile.gif
I am looking forward to turkey hunting with my youngest boys this spring.
Joe is looking to fly solo and go out with archery tackle come May. But we have the youth seasons for the young'uns that gives me much satisfaction.

Here is my son Mikes last April's jake. One of my best days in the field ever.
Taken on NY's youth hunt, called in by my oldest son Joe...Remember him?
We struck out the rest of the season, but Mike connected.
