I'm just a little curious here, and since this thread idea had been playing in my mind, I figure I'd just post this dang question here.
RP chars are essential when it comes to RP-ing (coz without them, how do we RP? XP) and we, the Creative Ones have probably created dozens of characters for different RPs. Some of us draw our character ideas from books, animes, games... and some of them just popped out of our mind.
So, this thread is to actually discuss on how you create each of your RP characters. How and where did you get the idea to create him/her?Do you actually got your char's behaviour from certain animes? Or is s/he actually you? Is it hard for you to control her/him?
(Plus, newbies can use this thread as an inspiration on creating RP characters?)
One char per post so that we can keep the thread running~
Let's see... I'll start with Lady Cecille von Liratte, who made an appearance in Dreamweavers.
This prideful DragonLord wouldn't be born without Shinzar and Dizzy. It all started when Dizzy gave Shinzar an RP homework which he was required to write some part about a noble lady losing her amulet or something (supposedly 1st post for Curse). Shinzar actually asked for help, saying that he was stuck coz he doesn't know how to RP as a RICH woman. All these got me thinking "Gee, what if I'm the one writing that part? How'd I RP?"
And yes, that's how Lady Cecille is born.
And no, despite a popular belief that the name Cecille is actually deprived from Kyou Kara Maou, the ol' queen Cecillie, I actually played around the name 'Cecily' ('The Importance of Being Earnest'. Did it for Literature and got crazy about the book) to get the name Cecille. I portrayed her to be... hmm... how most noble woman behave, 'cept much wilder, less frivolous and stupid. She has a pride of a lioness and a really mean streak.
It was Lady Cecilla who haunt the preparation days of my exam. I could not stop thinking up her profile and stories of her. She'd have five apprentices following her... Hell, if I have the chance, if my writing skill is good enough, I'd write a novel about her and the apprentices.
Before Dizzy's challenge, the thought of creating a master/teacher figure character in TLLF had been constantly playing in my mind. At last, Dizzy's RP homework opened the doors. However, I wanted her (as in my chara) to fight differently... Casting spells, fighting with weapons is something I've done. I want Lady Cecille to be different. Well, I won't ruin it to you peeps if you don't know how she does fight~ X3
I wanted to use her for TLLF, but I was having my exams. And after my exams, I just got lazy. Dreamweavers was a good place to start.
It was kinda hard controlling her at first, but I can say I had fun doing so. The more I used her, the more I love her. Her vanity, her pride and everything just amused me.
So, feel free to post!

Behind the scene characters eh? I have so many I would like to bring up but... honestly... it would fill up a couple of threads alone...
As for now... I think there is three characters I would like to present: First one out- Efter, Dreamweaver Saga This is a lurker and nearly the only character I ever made that do not only never had a single fight scene, but also first was created to give an answer to as why Mryw only could give away one of each three types of cards to the dreamers, guardians or dreamer guardians.
As for his appearance... I basically took an antro rat, gave it floppy elf ears that hangs down, a wolven mane, an elves eyes and seven fingers on each hand.
The reason for this appearance is because of a book series called "Book of the Crow". There was some odd, wise beings with seven fingers on each hand, wore clothes that covered most of their appearance and they had grey fur. They usually his away from humans, not very fond of other beings but their own race. (Sounds like Efter, dosn't it?)
His name means "After" but Efter can also mean "behind". The Fifth's that was banned long ago was named "Före" which means either "before", "being infront of" or "ahead of".
His hobbies are: Crafting, showing off by hard work and gather stories.
Next post will be Slyder!

Hehe, this'll be fun. I think I'll do all the different versions of 'Zyx Darkhound'. This might take a while... :P
My first ever RP character; I don't remember his name, but he was an assassin(believe it or not), and he was in many different RPs, including Zombie Planet part 1, and the infamous 250(?) page 'A Roleplay' on SD. Although briefly in the second, he did make an appearance. He was promptly killed by one of the many heros of the roleplay, being a bad guy and all, but it turned out that I discovered my.. 'skill' with controlling bad guys. At least, that's what Zhaska tells me. :P The only thing I remember about him other than his profession is that he looked like an Assassin from Ragnarok Online. The one with white hair, which everyone made pictures of. I can almost remember his name. Almost.
Zyx from Heaven and Hell part 1: Not the original Zyx Darkhound, but the most memorable. Possibly one of the worst profiles I ever wrote. The name is made up of my three favourite letters, and since 'Xyz' looks a bit.. strange, it was the only choice. By chance, I found a website (zyx-games.com or something), which incidentally was a hentai site, and for a while it was thought the name came from that, but I managed to convince everyone that 'I got it first!'. The Darkhound wasn't completely random, but it was original enough. It was mostly because of Zyx's favourite form, a dark grey wolf. This character, I based on my idea of your typical hero. Willing to give his life to save someone else, even if he hated them, and yet, also willing to kill anyone in order to do the right things. Justice and righteousness in living form. He made mistakes, and was mislead often, but in the end, he was always a faithful servant to Justice and his sense of 'good'.
Zyx from DWS: He was different every time I used him, I seem to remember, but his name stayed the same. Most of the time I kept him the same as the angel, just without the wings. Fire magic specialisation, claymore as a weapon, strong-willed, just, that kind of thing. In the newest installment of DWS, he's meant to be kind of bored of having to work his arse off to save people, but he's still willing to do it. Sarcastic, and perhaps a little cheeky, but still devoted to Myrw, who he believes is always right in what he does, and pretty much the 'apiphany' of wisdom.
Zyx from TLLF: This one was a character I thought up a very long time ago. I always loved the idea of a demon trapped inside a human body, fighting for control, or in control, but still pretending to be the human. This character was my pride and joy for a long time, and I'd developed his story in my mind so far that I thought I'd be able to write a whole book about him. I've been thinking about continuing where I left off, I just need the motivation, and the time. I'll probably end up doing it in the Summer. Anyway, to the point. The only thing I didn't like about him was the differently coloured eyes, which is why I changed it so he had them the same colour. It was starting to creep me out. His 'mana vision' came from a game called 'The Hidden', where your character, who has to go up against armies of soldiers with just a knife, is invisible and has only that as well as strength and his 'aura vision', with which he can sense life, even through walls. People showed up a brighter shade of pink the closer and more panicked they were. Even though he is as powerful as he is, I hadn't planned on it. I wanted him to be a mentor, struggling to keep control of his body, but now that he's made a pact with his demon, he's really powerful, but don't you guys worry, he won't be so overpowered for too much longer... (You'll see when I've finished 'Darkhound's journey part 2' which I will do this weekend, hopefully.)
EDIT: Whoops, forgot to mention. The first two Darkhounds I always found really easy to RP as, since I had the idea of the character in my mind all the time, but with the one from TLLF, I constantly feel like I've failed him as a character. He's got so much.. potential, and I don't think I'm using much of it at all. He's a difficult character to roleplay as, since, even though he's got a good heart, his sadness and suffering in the past has made him pretty insensitive to others' pains, even though he can see them, and often tries to help, he can't feel their pain. He doesn't feel much attachment to anyone, he just pretends to, because he misses those feelings he used to have, and hopes that by pretending to have them, they might return eventually. Even though I haven't made it clear, this Darkhound has a crush on one particular other character, and even though he doesn't actually feel the love, and happiness, he's able to lie about it to the extent that he'd give his life to protect this person. You'll all see soon. :P
Well, that didn't take as long as I thought it would. Although, there are.. quite a few missing. I'll write a few more later, when my wrist isn't aching and when my eyes aren't closing involuntarily...

*whistles* So many Zyxies.
Hmm, I shall do Roshaun, then.
I originally got his name from a vain alien prince from Diane Duane's young wizardry series. There are 3 versions of Roshaun: Pirate Seas, Infernal Curse and Dreamweaver Saga.
Pirate Seas His personality was actually based on a reference I have from a sky pirate captain, Captain Homard from La Pucelle. Honestly, I was crazy about that game when I was RP-ing Pirate Seas, so... the whole Neko idea is actually from the game, 'cept that I give them names and personalities. Hell, the original Captain Homard is also a prince from some country. And since I wanted to create an enemy for Rosh, I thought that him being a prince seeking for revenge might be a good idea. I love controlling the Nekos, and I plan to bring them back someday.
Infernal Curse Well, this Roshaun lose his wild side. He's definitely more gentle probably because he has a little sister (Rosalind). *blinks* There's nothing much special about him probably because I was unsure on what to do with him. Well, expect to learn his story with House Kastraj later. Hopefully, the tournament will help him with his character growth...?
DWS Roshaun only made a cameo appearance in the MSN DWS RP as Zephyr's king and best mate. And in this RP, we know that he became a king. Perhaps this would be his future, his 'happy ending' if he managed to defeat Drake and his crew. But he died later on, as mentioned in Zephyr's thoughts after he heard Jayden's story in the thread 'Imagina'. Gee, sure makes us wonder if Lena became his queen, yes?

(I know this is suposed to be only one character per post, but these are actualyl chained together so to say... You cant mentino one without ending up mentioning the other)
Funny thing you would mention Lena and Queen in the same sentence...
Leonina, aka Lena
...since she originate from a story I wrote a long time ago, named War Chess, and happened to be the only child of the current empress and emperror.
The main reason that story got tossed away, was because it became to difficult to write. It involved "chess pieces" that was magically crafted monsters that could shrink to little "figurines" and then revert back to their large living forms again. (If you remember Tales of Duniashi aka ToD, Glaive handed some of Zyx's generals some small figures that could become monsters? Those were War chess pieces!)
And being the next hier to the Imperial throne, she of course had her private set of war chess pieces, which in Pirate Seas were replaces with various creatures.
Madelene in Dreamweaver Saga is based on Leonina, as both of them specialize in taming and controlling beasts, and both being a bit... lacking in concerning others opinions.
In case you wonder, Leonina was not the main character of War Chess, but rather the villain, as the main character was a boy named Ilias (refer to Enias that appeared in Infernal Curse). This boy's father was one of the captains within the army, but failed a mission. As a punishment, they confiscated his son and made him a property of the Imperial family.
And Ilias had one Chess peice of his own as well, Quatre (the one that in ToD was handed to Azure) which Slyder in Infernal Curse originates from.
The main reason Leonina was set after Rosh, was that in the original story she comes from, Ilias ran away in an attempt for freedom, and she took up the chase to get her "property" back.
I recycle, paper, glass and characters from died away stories ^_^

With limited time in college, I have no mood to RP. Nor can I finish my homework without my thumbdrive.
Thus, let me cast a lvl 3 Revive spell on this thread using Mildrae Lightwind.
Mildrae, as I've said, is one of my proudest creations. The name Mildrae is taken from a char-name-randomizer in Disgaea (or Makai Kingdom? I can't remember). His last name, Lightwind is... well, he specialize in Wind Mana, and I originally wanted him to be as light and carefree as the wind; it turned out to be the opposite, though.
Anyway, for the benefit of some peeps, he made his appearance in Dreams that are no mere dreams (both old and new version) and The Potion of Shiny Shine Shine.
Dreams that are no mere dreams (old ver.) How did I think of his character profile? It all started with his picture actually. See the cheerful silver-haired boy in the desert? Well, desert links me to Navarre (Seiken Densetsu 3). Navarre is a home to thieves in the game, and thus came the idea of Mildrae being a thief. And then, I want him to be a part mana-user, so in came the master. I want him to connect to the RP, so in came the connection with Kilena Industries and his demon form. And the circus? ... It's all random, really.
I know my creativity was in a top peak when I wrote this old profile. And writing him with Shayla was certainly fun! (no, not in a romantic way, sillies) =D
Oh, and Atma weapon is borrowed from Final Fantasy VI.
Dreams that are no mere dreams (new ver.) As the main story of Dreams is changed drastically, Mildrae's past has been tweaked and he now has a darker past. This is just to give him a more enigmatic approach to this RP. From the hints I drop, you guys can probably guess what happened to him. If not, just wait for his new profile.
The Potion of Shiny Shine Shine Hmm, he's shares some traits with the old Mildrae from old Dreams; observational, somewhat-grumpy, helpful with a few teaspoons of righteousness. He doesn't want attention, yet attracts a few without knowing it. He wants to be helpful, yet he hesitates to be soft. He withdraws himself from people simply because he's afraid of people's reactions when they know about his gift (which is to turn into a big scary demon in the piccie, by the way). Well, this poor boy is always in conflict with himself.
Whether he'd learn how to let go and accept himself and others... We'll have to see. X3
((Remember, ONE character per post.))

Gee, most of the characters in Evolution seemed to be hastily made. I guess Kanmani's one of those last minute characters too. ^^'
I got the name Kanmani's from a bus mate of mine who, coincidentally, shared the same birthday as me. And since she's such a sweetie, I decided to name my character RP after her. XD
Of course, the description's pretty different. The RP Kanmani is pretty tall and slender, has a piercing on her nose. Brown hair that almost touches her shoulders; red and orange streaked her dark-coloured hair... *sigh* The style of her hair is modeled after mine (the style, not the colour! >__>'), but I'm afraid I can't describe it with my limited description skills. ><'
Kanmani is meant to be a care-free, tough chick with a soft-heart. Her personality and background is still under construction, so if you think she acts funny in Evolution, it just means I'm experimenting. She controls sand and is able to turn one herself. Her mutant powers is not inspired by Gaara or Sandman but, surprisingly, Dust from New Mutant.
As for how she met Rytalios... well, all will be explained in the RP or when it's Ryt's turn.
Well, I don't intend Ryt and Mani to be a pair. Kanmani views Ryt as her younger brother, and that is all.
