Title: G4 preview

http://g4tv.com/games/xbox-360/51417/splat...se-Impressions/To set the record straight: the QTE events this reviewer mentions in the text are actually the Splatterkills, and there's nothing QTE about them.

Dan is the greatest PR guy. The more fleshed out story is very entertaining. Even though it was repeating a lot of older footage, I still loved seeing the Mantipedes. I really hope they're still in the game.

It wasn't just repeating the older footage, it was almost 100% older footage. The only thing new were the screenshots and a tiny bit from the "Sento nel Core" trailer. That's disappointing that G4 didn't bother to use any of the new footage; rather, they previewed a game that technically doesn't exist (and we should all be thankful for that).

Glad to hear that the ESRB only seems to be regulating how the game is marketed and not the game itself. Still hoping that they will let Namco do an unscenored trailer. I also have to say that I freaking love the whole "blood equals power" system.

How do they work?
I keep thinking of Ninja Gaiden 2's Obliteration Techniques. As an enemy takes damage, they have a chance of getting a limb lopped off; at that point you can do a simple one-button move that that kills them with a flashy animation, but you have to get in close to do it.
Is it anything like that?
Dire 51 - June 5, 2010 06:39 PM (GMT)
They work like this: once you grapple an enemy, you move the analog sticks in different combinations to execute different Splatterkills. For example, up/L + down/R would be a head ripper, while down/L + down/R would be a head crusher.
DISCLAIMER: The above example I made up based on what I remember from the demo.

Despite the Bottlerocket footage, that was a pretty good interview! Each new video I see just get's me more and more pumped for October!
And G4's such a joke anymore, their screw up doesn't really surprise me.

Seriously, what the fuck happened? Is there even a reason to watch X-play anymore? 90% of their line-up is COPS, Sexy Ladies, and Ninja Warrior. They're all good shows but they're on repeat so often.

And don't forget Cheaters! Nothing screams video games like COPS and Cheaters! :lol

I'm only down with G4 'cause Joe Lynch pops up from time to time.
Dire 51 - June 8, 2010 01:44 AM (GMT)
I'd say G4 is dead to me, but honestly, they were never alive to me in the first place.

G4 is the MTV equivalent of the videogame world. Started out promising...turned to crap fast. Whatever the case though...It's still nice to see these interviews. :p
