Can't they just leave well enough alone? Of course not. Interestingly, Obama being elected is apparently the inspiration for the sequel, because Emmerich didn't want to make it until now because Bush was in office.
I just wish they'd leave it alone. ID4 was a fun movie, and everything was wrapped up nicely enough at the end - especially when you consider that when the mothership was destroyed, it took the entire alien race with it. |

I agree, I think it should of been left alone.
At the end of the film I was a bit curious what the human race would do with all this alien technology lying around from the fallen space ships across the world. Whether they'd be able to salvage it and make huge leaps in technology. But I didn't really think they'd be able to make a very good sequel from it. Another alien fleet comes and we have space weapons too? Bah. No big surprises, and there's no world landmarks to destroy anymore. :lol And lol at the reasoning behind it. The guy on the third link hit the nail on the head with his comment on 'the leftist cause'. |

Whichever way they slice it, I really hope it never happens.

Well, as long as it has Will Smith punching an alien unconscious though its exoskeleten/suit thing then its all good. Cause that was such a great scene in the first one.
Sorry, I really wasn't the biggest fan of ID4... it had potential, I just don't think they made is as good as they could have. |

Eh, it was a fun little one-off comic book film. Nothing more, nothing less.

Yeah a Popcorn Movie. It has alot of stupid moments like that such as the pet dog escaping the blastwave from the alien super weapon in slow motion. That was just bad. I cringe and look away during that part of the movie when I watch it.

Honestly, I've never liked ID4 (what the fuck does that even mean, logically?!) to begin with, and when the same team went and made...well, I don't know what they thought it was, but they called it Godzilla....I pretty much wrote the clowns off for good. When you combine the budgets of their classic back-catalog of films, you could have effectively ended world hunger, cured a few diseases....nope. We get Day After Tomorrow.
So yeah....count my vote "hoping this never happens". |

Yeah, I too remember that film "Godzilla." Godzilla, my ass. As far as I'm concerned, the only good films they ever did were Independence Day and Stargate, although I'll admit to being mildly entertained by The Day After Tomorrow.
