Almost a year it's been since release and I'm just now getting around to trying the PS3 version of SH '10. There's a good reason for that: most of the local gamers I know have 360s, and the ones that own PS3s either didn't buy the game or bought it, finished it and traded it in a long time ago.
Enter Brenton, who most of you may remember as the guy that took me to Worcester to play the demo last year. He started working at a new job a few months ago, and I haven't really seen him since. But this past Tuesday we were able to meet up and hang out for a bit. In the past few months, he's picked up a bunch of new PS3 games (he's making quite a bit more money now), among them Duke Nukem Forever (which I also tried, not bad I guess - but then I'm no fan of FPSes) and Splatterhouse. Naturally, I had to check it out. I played a couple of the survival arenas, part of the main game and tried all the classics. I saw virtually nothing that distinguished the game from its 360 counterpart. The emulation issues present in the classics were still there, I didn't notice any glitches in the main game or arenas and the load times seemed to be roughly the same. *shrug* So that's that. It was also my first time playing a PS3 period, so I think it appropriate that the first game I played on the console was Splatterhouse. |

Yep, it's virtually identical in each and every way except you don't have to install it to your hard drive for it to work right (like you do for the 360) and of course the bonus Terror Mask you get for clearing the game is different.

The bonus mask caption alone makes the 360 version worth it

Something has to be jacked up with the PS3 version. Everyone I know who played the PS3 version hated Splatterhouse '10, while everyone I know who played the 360 version enjoyed it. This can't be coincidence.

Maybe those PS3 owners just don't like fun. Who knows?

I never had a problem with the PS3 version of the game.

I have both and have played both to completion, both main game and arenas (with Platinum trophy on PS3 and 1000 Achievement score on XBOX). No difference. Actually, I saw far more complaints among members of the XBOX community because of the glitches encountered if the game wasn't installed to the hard drive.
