So we're coming up on the 100th anniversary of the RMS Titanic's sinking. Of course, this means that James Cameron's film has been rereleased (in 3-D, now), and that seems to be sucking up the lion's share of attention. This makes me sad. I don't mind the Cameron film, as it did stir up some renewed interest in the actual story when it first came out, but to have it monopolizing the spotlight over the actual ship and the 100th anniversary of the sinking just irks me.

But I guess that's what this world has come to, right? Not like anyone gives a damn about anything that isn't reality TV or what have you. Maybe it's time to bleach the gene pool.

I'm finding it harder and harder to focus on any projects or hobbies I usually enjoy. Weeks will pass without me playing any games or watching any movies. I go out, now that I have my truck, but I end up in the same old places. I don't feel like spending cash I don't have on doing "something new." And I talk about going to work out, but can't get off my lazy ass to do so. All I do is work, take care of my kids, eat, sleep and spend time online reading. That's it.

The end result? The rut's getting deeper and I'm not sure how to get out of it.

Music remains the one constant in my life that preserves my sanity. And on that note, this next number - and believe me, this one'll wake you right up - is dedicated to all the women that have ever fucked me over. Enjoy!

Good song. I like FFDP.

Try playing outside with the kids. That may give you the little bit of spunk you need to get into the gym. I can't stand to miss gym days now but I was in that rut too.

I pretty much feel the same way, Rob, minus the kids part of course.

My problem is the Kelly and my work schedules are so opposite that it is hard to do much of anything. We get maybe one evening a week at most, maybe a day off together each week if we are lucky.

Nobody will break your fall
All for one, yeah, none for all
Nothing's so cruel as the truth
Join the festival of fools
~Type O Negative, "The Dream Is Dead"

That pretty much sums up my current view right now. Rob, if you've been feeling despondent lately, at least take solace in the fact that you're not the only one. I haven't posted around here since my emo-esque blog entry (and I thank you all again for the support and advice), but I've got to say that not much has changed last week, nor do these sorts of things change easily. I feel my generally optimistic persona is slowly being overtaken by something less friendly and more bitter... but I doubt that'll be here to stay. I just feel we're all in a ditch right now, but things will improve sooner or later. And if they don't, then we'll get motivated to REALLY do something about it.

Tough times
Demand tough talk
Demand tough hearts
Demand tough songs
Demand
~ Rush, "Force Ten"

... damn, music DOES help for nearly everything.

I don't believe it's a matter of feeling despondent; rather, it's more of an aimless feeling. Sam was right, I need to find my superobjective in life. Thing is, I have no real idea where to begin.

Nope, not doing that. Gaming is no longer a priority for me. Most of my stuff is packed away, and will stay there until I truly feel the desire to game again. Who knows when that'll be, though?

I need to find something non-gaming related. Something new that's going to challenge me in ways I never imagined. And hopefully, whatever that is will help respark my interest in my old passions.
