I would love to see a theme park like Opryland come back, but I think it should be one that centered around Nashville's musical history and music industry the way Opryland did. We have so much talent walking the streets here in Nashville. Opryland was a great place for talented people to sharpen their entertaining skills.

i used to go opryland every year back when i live in nashville tn and i used have season passes.
i have been thinking why don't some people start there own compnay and try to build a new orpyland theme park. an example of this is being done in boston ma for old theme park whalom park which would be run by people used to work at the park. the same thing could be done in nashville tennesse. it would requie alots of funding and a good businness plan and a great location. |

There have been a couple of tentative starts at getting a new theme park here since 1997. The trick is finding land that has the right road access. There was talk back in about 2002 about the Joelton area. Unfortunately, the infrastructure costs would have been just too high, because there's not good enough ingress and egress from I-65/24. There was talk about one between Murfreesboro and Smyrna at one point, but the same problem applied, because Sam Ridley Parkway just couldn't have handled the traffic at the time (it was still mostly 2-lane between 24 and Murfreesboro Road/70S at the time). Hopefully this new Opryland thing will pan out. |
