Title: The Impossible Astronaut - SPOILERS!
The Master - April 23, 2011 06:00 PM (GMT)
Since we have several members that weren't around last season, here's the deal again. We usually keep spoilers from the episodes out of the cbox for a couple of days so people can catch up and whatnot. We make threads per episode, however, where people can talk about it to their hearts' content!
THIS THREAD WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR THE IMPOSSIBLE ASTRONAUT. Also, feel free to speculate and stuff too!
Anyway, wasn't that great!??! Wow. I really really want part two - why would start the season off with a two-parter like that? I mean, I was expecting it, but still, it stinks. :P I love the timey-wimey-ness that they already have in play, and it's insane all the questions that just one episode could raise.
By the way, Amy pregnant?? I honestly kind of expected it, but still, I'm interested in seeing how that'll affect the season. And... I'm kind of wondering if the little girl is Amy's daughter. That might be a stretch, but it crossed my mind...
The Silent!! Dang. Silents? Silence? Not quite sure if it's Silents or Silence will fall at this point. But they're INSANE. The suit makes me think it's one of the agents from the White House or something, but who knows. The alien itself is fantastic - scary and all that. I think Moffat's trying to get back to those times where kids hid behind the couch whilst watching Doctor Who  I'm game, that's for sure.
So what did you guys think??

Oh and the ending THE ENDING!!! how can they do that how can they drop a BOMBSHALL like andexpect us to wait a WEEK!!!. Does Rory know that Amy is pregnant? does River?....OH and the Silence(S) they were just freaky and why did the one in the toliet tell Amy to tell the Doctor what happened?.

OH!
I know I know...do you think its the same Aliens?. Maybe the Silence(s) think that the humans attacked them first and now they are building up for an invasion in like a counter attack.
The Master - April 23, 2011 06:20 PM (GMT)
Yeah, that bootleg TARDIS... I wonder where they're going with that! Either some aliens are wanting to be powerful or there's another Time Lord about.
The Silent could have been trying to sabotage the Doctor by letting him know what is going to happen? I mean, River said that they couldn't tell him because it could rip a hole in time and space etc etc - but maybe the Silent is TRYING to mess things up?
Amy Pond - April 23, 2011 06:25 PM (GMT)
I thought that the thing she HAD to tell him was that she was preggers....
Romana - April 23, 2011 06:28 PM (GMT)
That I DIDN'T see coming at all I thought she was going to tell him about his death...
The Master - April 23, 2011 06:28 PM (GMT)
I was thinking that she needed to tell him about the Silence alien up to the point where she said she was pregnant. ^_^ But I thought the creature wanted her to tell him about his future? Who knows.
Romana - April 23, 2011 06:31 PM (GMT)
I agree with you there Master...
I think the Silence wants Amy to tell the Doctor so it will rip a hole in time and space. For some reason these alines want to destory the whole universe a long with time. At least thats what I think anyways :P

Oh and...
Day of the Moon TrailerEpisode 2 IntroPreview Clip 1Preview Clip 2EDIT: And apparently it's a singular Silent and multiple Silence. That's what it was on the BBC Doctor Who site. And by the way, out-of-UK-ers can now watch video clips and whatnot on the site!

I'm sitting here, scratching my head.
I understand everything that happened, I'm just puzzled as to what's going on.
If River is supposedly in the Storm Cage for killing the Doctor, then why does she not remember putting on a space suit?
Ergo, that wasn't the Doctor getting killed.
There's talks of cloning going on, and there was a brief shot in a preview of Matt's face done up in clone gunk.
Also ergo, not the Doctor.
Who's in the spacesuit? The real Doctor. Who's the Doctor that's with them right now? The clone... who ends up getting shot at the end of the next episode.
That's my theory, and I'm sticking to it.

Upon reflection, I do have to say that the Doctor going 'Uhhhh nothing, she's a friend,' had me in bloody stitches. XD
The Doctor - April 24, 2011 05:33 AM (GMT)
While I'm saving the majority of my comments until I can see BOTH parts... I rather like the idea that this Doctor - closer to his old series counterparts such as seven, six, four and eight - was prone to leaving (even having adventures and sometimes FORGETTING) his companions from time to time. I'm not saying I'm hoping the Doctor will shout 'screw you' to Amy and Rory and run off :P I'm just saying that the guy has a box full of time and space... why spend an evening at a Christmas party with silly hats when you can go hang out with Santa Clause and Einstein and eat Jammy Dodgers while Newton tells that stupid-ass 'Apple' story AGAIN?
11 is the kind of Doctor I remember - the kind of Doctor who (while he realizes he needs his friends and has a love for humanity) who simply won't be tied down. Who'll go off and have glorious adventures ranging from fighting Daleks to strolling along the banks of the nile WITHOUT all the 'I miss my fwiends' crap that a 900 + year old would go crazy from dealing with
TALKING of 900 years, I looked up the last canonically reported age of the Doctor (1125 from the book Escape Velocity) and was suddenly struck by a thought... I know many people subscribe to the fact that the Doctor has NO idea how old he is - simply rounding it to 900 because it's easier than trying to remember a fourth digit. But I was struck by an idea... the First Doctor was 296 to 315 when he died (as evident by the second doctor stating his age at 450 and novels commenting on how old he was) and if you subtract 296 from 1125 you get 829 - or if you subtract 315 from 1125 you get 810...
Now I realize that ISN'T the 900 most fans are familiar with from the new series. But if you think about it, 829 or 810 years... if you add seventy or so years to that you GET 900 (and the time war lasting seventy years for the Doctor wouldn't be all that hard to believe) and when you remember what the ninth Doctor said
'900 years of time and space travel and I've never been slapped by someones mother'
Maybe - MAYBE - he's not counting from his birth date anymore... who would? There's no planet of birth - no date of birth anymore. He counts his age from the moment he stepped into the TARDIS - nine hundred and nine years ago. From the day he stopped being 'Theta Sigma' and became the Doctor

All I can say about the episode (apart from the fact that the Silence are freaky as f*ck) is that Amy must never have learned the Oedipus law: It's when you try to avoid destiny that you walk right into it.
