So. About the Forge...

I know this isn't exactly the place to post this, but I really don't want to bump it over Saph's current thread in the Q/A forum, and since it's not really a question per se, then here goes! xD

So I've got this character idea in mind that I've been wanting to make for a long while by now. His personality and overall feel are quite set -more or less- but I still haven't decided where to blend him in. Option one's a Rogue Time agent with his own secret agenda that wants to overthrow John Hart and take his place as leader of the Rogues (that obviously will not happen, but might make a good plot idea to go with -then depending on what happens or with what characters he interacts with, I can make him either switch to another faction or group or go solo after John discovers this or whatnot) but option two's someone from the Forge, since I've also been wanting to make someone pertaining to that faction for quite some time.

Only problem I have when it comes to the Forge: I haven't even heard of it before reading about it on this site (no judging plz thx). But I've been reading a bit about Nimrod and the whole organization on wikipedia and the Dwho wikia -but I was wondering if anyone knew of other interesting sources where I could look?

I know there are some audio plays about Nimrod (which I find an interesting character to play and might actually even consider taking him depending on how he's been portrayed) called 'Project: Twilight, Project: Lazarus & Project: Destiny' written by Mark Wright and Cavan Scott -so if anyone knows where I can find them, or any other classic DWho episodes or stories (fanfics, even!) that might help me get a better of either this man or the organization, then that would be sooo awesome and sooo cool I would love you soo much and bake you cookies and stuff. So yeah. Anything, anyone?

Hey, I didn't know about it either, until Doctauri shared those audioplays with me (he's your best bet about getting to them, by the way). But having listened to them? And knowing what we could do with the Forge on the site?

YES PLEASE.

I mean, yeah, the Time Agent sounds cool, but I would looooove love love to get some of the Forge around. I like groups like that. And with Torchwood - at least Cardiff - around, we could totally have some butting of heads with the organizations. If they could ever find them, that is... And I could see the Master wanting to exploit them, however he could as well...

But yes. I would love to see some Forge types around here. For King and Country! *coughs*

Forge it is, then! I can always use Gabriel for any Time Agent rebellion stuff -so yeah. I do like to have variety in my character sets, and an evil Forge member or Nimrod sounds like awesome stuff to roleplay with. Just a few quick questions then: I can't find any physical descriptions about these people, so... do these human/vampire hybrid things have a humanoid appearance? And Nimrod? I'm assuming they all do, since in 2026 the org is held accountable by the government, and Nimrod himself becomes a public figure -Knighted, even? Oh, idk -I just want to be sure!

And also. Are all these people who work for him vampires infected with the Twilight Virus, or can some of them be ordinary humans?

I'll go search the web a few more times, see if I have any luck -but if I can't, I'll let him know (:

I feel like there might have been a description in one of the audioplays, at least, but I just don't honestly remember. For some reason, I think he's really tall and larger? Maybe rather muscled, from the genetic enhancement kind of thing. He was bald in the covers that I saw, and had a leather coat on over his suit. This is the only picture that's really in existence, I believe.



But yeah, they all started as normal humans anyway, and then were part of experiments (willingly or not) that made them the way they are. But a lot of the regular soldiers and workers are probably human.

The thing about Nimrod and the Forge is that there is not THAT much out there about them in the Whoniverse. It's all part of the audioplays and whatnot. That's both frustrating and liberating, in a way. We do have a certain leniency with what we can do!

I don't know if it's the Voldemort factor or not, but the minute I saw him I was like 'omg, Ralph Fiennes'. Regardless, I was, actually pondering that pb option before seeing this photo. O:

My initial intention was to create a sort of 'Andrew Scott's Moriarty' character (not exactly 100% him -mostly just borrowing his general demeanour in the Sherlock series, which I really, really liked) --but even without having listened to any of the audiobooks, I can tell Nimrod's too ragged to play that lightly. Doesn't really matter, though, because I'm almost certain I'm going to pick Nimrod over him. The more I read about this man's history, the more I like.

Buut, if I choose Nimrod, I'm probably going to make him wear a wig in public, if that's okaay, so that it gets more dramatic when he takes it off. Sort of William Abberton ('nice person mask') = with wig. Nimrod ('evil core') = without it. Dunno if that just there made any sense o.x

And yeah, Nimrod's a lot more... intense. Definitely dark and intense. But epic and awesome because of it.

And that works! It'll also help disguise him and whatnot if need be. I can't remember if he has scarring. Does he? Am I making stuff up? I need to re-listen to these things.

His actual name is William Abberton - a name he abandoned the night he was transformed into a half-vampire. He died in 2025 after being denigrated by one of his own weapons

At least, he WILL die...

From the Doctor's perspective this has already happened - because he knows WHEN this happens and HOW it happens, he's handicapped in stopping Nimrod because Nimrods death - from the Doctor's perspective - is fixed. Someone else could kill him, changing that part of the Doctor's time line, but the Doctor himself CAN'T

Whether or not Nimrod knows when he's going to die is ambiguous at best - and one of the short stories based on the Forge shows him alive and well post 2025 having completely transformed into a vampire. Using his powers to rebuild the forge he's crippled because the powers he once used to keep his hunger from forcing him to feed are gone now - and the only thing that would stop his hunger would also kill him.

The version of Nimrod you'd play would be the pre-2025 Nimrod... but I don't see why you couldn't have future Nimrod show up from time to time to rub the Doctor's face in the fact that he CAN'T kill Nimrods past self

That's projects Lazerous and Twilight - both very endemic to his character. I don't have the other projects or ebooks on hand... but those should give you the details about his origin AND personality

On the subject of Torchwood, The Forge is supported by several governments (unlike Torchwood which is/was almost completely UK-based) much like UNIT. However, the few people that actually KNOW about the Forge believe it to have gone Rogue since no one can control Nimrod and he's either killed or blackmailed everyone who could have challenged them.

UNIT originally attempted to get them shut down - but the Forge was in existence before UNIT and just shut down the branches UNIT had discovered. As for Torchwood, the Forge still has the funding and complete freedom that Torchwood now lacks. As we saw - up until Jack's intervention - Torchwood was much the same (which was how the Forge and Torchwood survived for so long since they were both too powerful to shut down the other) but because of Jack's changes Torchwood is now answerable in a way the Forge isn't

The Forge - with Nimrod in control - remains completely out of control and ready to do anything to destroy any action by any alien race to endanger the earth. Further, if there's a weapon that can ensure that 'duty' in the hands of any aliens or extra-dimensional creatures (or even mirror versions of the forge) it is the duty of Nimrod and his people to procure those weapons and ensure King and Country is served.

Which is probably how Nimrod keeps the majority of his grunts in line - as horrible as the acts their doing may be... it's all for the better of humanity. Because, as we all know, the term 'king and country' stopped referring to the UK almost a hundred years ago... the king is nimrod, and the country...

Hahaha -noooo, I won't I've just finished downloading the last one of them, so you can remove them if you want! (: and yeah, that's exactly what I plan on doing during my next breaks --I actually really do want to make Nimrod as close to the canon character as I can.

EDIT: Ok. A really, really bad mistake to start listening to these stories during a small break --because I'm already hooked. Gosh, yes, they are good stories!
