The Maldovarium -52st Century - 1:32am.
For most people the night was coming to an end but, for others, the night was just beginning, and becoming very interesting by the second. Although, for one Professor River Song, recently released from Stormcage prison for a non-existent murder, never really had a dull night. In fact, most of her nights ended up interesting in one form or another, sometimes on purpose or by simple accident. River preferred it when it was by accident; those kinds of interesting nights always seemed to be the most fun. Then again, the nights where she intended to have some fun, always ended with a smile planted all over her face. Which all that matter in the end, as long as River was satisfied, then she didn't really care about the how or the why, just that it happened and it was good.
Tonight was shaping up to be good night in a different way, a very profitable way. River wasn't really interested in profit; it came in handy when she needed information or when she needed tools to find a dig site to uncover a new mystery. But, other than that River didn't really have the need for profit, no, the thing that interested River most tonight was the game of chance that was unfolding right now. The game was a form of poker, only it was way more advanced than it used to be back in the past. For one thing the cards and the dealer were holographic. Not only that but, when someone lost a hand, they would receive a shock of electricity, ranging from a small jolt to a life threatening charge, depending on how big the wager was that was lost.
So far, River had seen off three other players, and it came down to a head to head with her, and a purple alien that had three eyes, two in the normal place, and one in the middle of his forehead. Both players had only been jolted a few times, and had only lost a small amount of their credits. A few hands back, however, things got interesting when the alien placed a rather sizable bet. One that River only raised, naturally. It had now gotten to a point where the stakes were extremely high, and the alien had limited chooses. Either see River's bet, and go all in with his credits or fold, and live to play another day. He knew that if River's hand was better than his, then he would end up in hospital or worse, end up dead.
The only other option was for the alien to substitute his seat, and allow someone else to take his place, and his bet. This was the option that the alien took, even thought the crowd of people that gathered didn't really like his choose. When the alien finally got up, and left the table. River relaxed back in her chair, and smiled a wide smile, as a soft chuckle escaped her lips. "Well, if no one has the guts to step forward. I'd just take my winnings, and by on my way. A woman like me is in very high demand you know?"
The challenge was given in a playful tone of voice, laced with under currents of seduction. As she waited for someone to step forward, and accept her challenge. River took a sip out of her drink, and looked around the bar with a playful, bemused and attractive look upon her facial features.
