Hello!

Introductions are always fun to do, even though I never know what to say...

I'm Lindsay! I'm 22 and live near Cleveland, Ohio. I just graduated from college earlier this month where I majored in biochemistry. Nothing's come to fruition with my job searching yet so I have a lot of free time on my hands (when I'm not filling out job applications, that is).

My Torchwood and Doctor Who addiction started one evening a couple of years ago when I was at home and bored out of my mind. I was channel surfing and came across this show called Torchwood on BBC America. I read the description for the episode ("Captain Jack Harkness" from season one) and decided to give it a shot. I then went on to catch up on all of Torchwood just in time for Miracle Day to begin. While I was on that journey, a friend of min at school kept on buggering me to watch Doctor Who, which I had every plan to do so. I started with the new series and was caught up with that long before the latest season aired last year. Once I was all caught up with new Who, I began to watch the classic episodes in order. Right now, I only have seven Fourth Doctor stories left before it's on to the Fifth Doctor.

Besides watching Doctor Who and rping in my free time, I love to read (anything from Shakespeare to Stephen King), watch sports (don't play any myself anymore), listen to music (mainly oldies and classic rock...special mentions go out to the Beatles and Elton John!), and bake (apparently I make the best chocolate chip cookies in the world...or so my relatives like to tell me).

I have a lot of experience playing characters from DW an TW on various sites...Captain Jack Harkness, Captain John Hart, Ianto Jones, the First Doctor, the Second Doctor, the Fourth Doctor, the Ninth Doctor, the Tenth Doctor, the Eleventh Doctor, Harry Sullivan, the Master, Ian Chesterton, and Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart...I believe that covers everyone I have played or currently play. This will be my first time with Leela. I couldn't resist taking her because I absolutely loved her with Four (although Harry will always be my favorite of Four's companions) and I love the part she has to play with the plot of this site.

I will stop my rambling there and end with saying I look forward to having a fun time on this site and getting to know all of you!!!

Hi, Lindsay!! I'm Saph, the head admin here. Welcome to the site! First of all, we're so freaking excited to have a Leela. Seriously, I had been working on the new skin and some of the documentation stuff, and Doctauri expanded the stuff on the factions to include the different ones with the Time Lords. And then to have someone come on not long afterward and want to play the leader - and a Classic Who character - of one of those? It was awesome!

My admin geek-out moment is over. Ish. (It helped that our Romana also was starting a new plot, and you came along in time for that one, too.) Okay, now it's over.

So we're the same age! And I also just graduated! I'm going into grad school right now, so the job search is postponed for a bit, but good luck with that, definitely. Cooking and baking is fun. You should bake us something and eat it for us sometime or something. XD

I need all of the good luck I can get. If I don't hear back from anyone in the next couple of weeks, then I think I'm going to start considering going to med school. My mom thinks I should go and I used to want to go, until I decided that I probably couldn't do another four years of school...but job searching right now is difficult. My ultimate goal was/is to go into forensics but most of those positions require years and years of lab experience outside of classes, which I don't have, so I've been looking at research assistant positions but even a lot of those require 2-3 years of previous experience. So I've just been applying to any assistant positions that don't require experience because I really don't want to be stuck doing an unpaid internship to gain the experience that so many of the jobs require.

With med school floating around the back of my mind, I wouldn't have to worry about paying any of my undergrad student loans any time soon, I'd be able to go into a job that I love right away, instead of having to look for a job to gain experience for what I ultimately want to do, and the nice, fat salaries doctors get is just an added bonus.

And grad school, of course, would always be another option for me as well.


What did you study in college?

Music education. Music school is a special, different kind of hell that eats up your time in the form of practicing, rehearsals, and never-ending work, as opposed to memorizing formulas, body parts, and never-ending work... University's great, isn't it? haha.

Nah, it was busy, but worth it. I love teaching, but sadly there isn't a fat salary in store for me. Less school though? I dunno. I have to have a Masters to teach long-run in my state, so I'm going ahead and getting it. I know that when I get out and into the "real world," I'm not going to want to come back. So I'm getting it over with now.

But forensics! That would be so cool! There's always forensic anthropology or whatever, too, right? But that's probably also a lot of lab work. And/or field work. Hopefully you'll find some sort of job and be able to decide from there whether you want to continue with that or with school!

Ooo, med school? Well, here's a handy piece of advice.

DON'T GO TO MED SCHOOL.

I'm honest here, it's a total suicide mission. The only reason why I go to med school is because I don't smoke, and, hey, we all have to die of something right?

I'm Sphy, I'm 21, currently currently studying medicine (almost done with my 3rd year, almost!) and having Biochemistry as anual subject during my first year was enough for me to get that I am useless (COMPLETELY USELESS) in that specific area.
