THE RULES! Welcome!
How We Work
I would like to start off by putting out there the first and foremost things I am trying to instill into this board, especially as it reopens.
This site started as a community project. That is, I originally started out the forum by going around to different websites, picking up those interested in the idea of a community project. I had the site up with nothing but one forum with a couple of threads, in which we all worked out a plot and ideas we had for this board.
Because of this, we wish to continue this site with a sense of community and friendship. Too many boards out there are full of cliques, overpowered characters, and those that just wish for elitism and being the best. I find this to be sickening, quite frankly, and very discouraging. What's wrong with having fun?
We will not operate under the title of advanced or literate. While I wish to strive towards these things, I wish it to be on a personal level for the players. I don't want to sound like an elitist and push people away from our community website by saying they do not belong if they can't write as well as others.
This means that, while we do have guidelines and minimum limits for some things, such as areas in the profiles or posts, they are very real minimums and are set only for the purpose of being able to properly roleplay. I would like us to push you to do better, so you can improve your writing and roleplay experience. This does not mean that I want you to slack, do less than your best, not spell-check your posts, and the like. We just don't want to turn people away before they even get here.
That being said, we will continue on to the...
Rules of the Board
General Rules
Respect - Please respect all members, also listen to the staff, who are here to provide help and structure. If you have a problem, take it up in the PM system by messaging one of us.
Decency - Please do not say or submit any offensive materials on this site. This includes, but is not limited to, all types of discrimination, explicit sexual content, rude comments, etc.
Absences - Please, if you are going to be out for a few days, drop us a line in the Absences section in the OoC area of the forum. It's just nice to let us know, especially for those that are roleplaying with you. This is especially true if you are going to be out for a long period of time and you don't want us to give up your canon!
Spam - Please keep all spam and unnecessary materials in the appropriate sections. They're there for a reason, chat purposes and the like.
Cursing - While it is allowed, please do not use it in any excessive or extreme manner.
InvisionFree - Any other rules to follow will fall under the InvisionFree rules or policies. Any violators will be reported to them.
User Accounts
Name - Please use the first and last name of your character. Titles are acceptable for Time Lords/Ladies.
Avatars - There is a 100x100 pixel avatar size limit.
Signatures - Please do not stretch the board with the width of your signature. Also, I prefer if it wasn't extremely tall as well. You can use the scroll code, if you wish.
Role-playing
Number of Characters - You can basically have as many characters as you want to keep up with. This means, you should be able to post with your other characters about once a week. Please put them on separate accounts though.
Applications - Please use the application template for you profiles. Follow the guidelines posted along with it. You cannot roleplay until you have been approved by an admin. The secret code is as following: 'In these stones horizons sing.' Bonus points if you tell me what it's from. *winks*
Activity checks - Again with the letting us know if you'll be out idea. We will be having monthly activity checks. Any characters not around will have their characters put up for grabs, in addition to any of their threads archived.
Aliens & Powers - While we accept aliens with power/abilities, we please have to ask that no characters have high-leveled abilities at all. Time Lords are about as high as we get here. And please, no telepathy or mind powers of any sort. This is leaving quite a lot of room for god-modding. Any character made before this goes in effect is safe (though they will be watched) - but no more from here out. We reserve rights to not accept anything we deem as unnecessary or unfitting to the board. Please, if in doubt, don't do it! Or if you don't have a problem with it but think other's might...well, the same goes with that. What's wrong with just something a bit out of the ordinary, looking different, etc.? You don't need to go all out. We're not an X-Men forum, nor are we a Twilight board *shudders*. added 28 May, 2009
Time Lords/Ladies - Since we are actually having it open for Time Lords to come in, we ask that you be up to the challenge. We would like, first of all, not to have an abundance of them, because we may have to put a cap on them for a bit if need be. Secondly, we also ask that you be able to handle it - again, while I wish to not sound elite, we really want people to take Time Lords that will play them properly. There are different requirements for both posting (200-word minimum) and the application minimums (check the template page). As of 27 May, 2009: Please, currently we would like to have no more half-Time Lord/half-human sons/daughters of Time Lords!!
Posting - Again, while we shy away from 'advanced' and 'literate' tags, we still ask that you do your best. We do have a 100-word minimum for posts, which is not all that much, really. We just want to be able to have an easy time replying to them, is all. We do, however, expect more of Time Lords.
Tense - Please put your posts in third person and in past tense. This is the 'correct' way to roleplay, and we'd like the board to be consistent and easier to read.
God-Modding - Please do not do this, it happens too much on other sites. While there normally isn't too much of a problem of this in DW/TW boards, just watch it a bit if you do.
Maturity - We ask that you keep most of the board in PG-13. If it goes beyond that, please put a warning, such as [M]. No overdoing it, please.
Pregnancy and Death - We don't want pregnancy to be an overdone thing either, not that I expect it to be. And there will be absolutely NO deaths without the permission and prior planning of the to-be-deceased party (if they're important characters, please contact an admin).
Time Frame - This is set in the year 2009, so please keep things where they should be. Also, make sure to remember that this all takes place after the special, "Planet of the Dead" for Doctor Who, and the second season finale of Torchwood including events of "Journey's End."

Last, I would like you all to go out there and have fun! All these rules are rather common sense, and I don't want to feel like I'm holding you guys back. Have lots of fun, meet new people, join our community, cause a bunch of drama, and save the world!!
Thank you, - Saphira (the Master) and the rest of the TSC Staff
