Mornings were not really his thing. He never really kenw why he didn't like getting up, maybe because it meant you had to start the day all over again, with simply memories of the past day to make you either smile, frown, or cry. Maybe it was because no matter how much you tried to bring back a past day, unless you were a rare mutant who could time travel, those days would be lost forver...never to be seen again...to be locked away in only your memories. If you think about the concept of lossing time simply because you have to go to sleep, and simply because time always 'ticks', then its actually a very, very scary concept. One that Zander choose not to think about voluntarily, but sometimes your mind wanders; you can't help that.
Well, there was only one remedy when his mind would take its little joy ride. The teeange male sighed one moment, then let otu a lazy yawn, barely putting his hand over his mouth as he made his way, with great effort {which was evident in his movements} to the music room. He needed to just, let go and playing the piano was a good way to do that. It was hs anti drug from the drug that was called existance, and he would use it almost every day. That or pudding...mmmm...pudding....
As he reached the music room he smiled softly to himself, a soft curl of his lips laely noticeable. It seemed he was alone. Perfect. Eyes scanned the room for the stationary object he was looking for. For a moment, he could not pin point the large device, but then he saw it out of the corner of his eye; this time next to the window. The piano wasn't supposed to move! He knew that rule by heart, having brokenit so many times. Oh well...he simply rolled his eyes lightly. It being next to the window was so much better then it being in the center of the room.
Once the teenager had made his way over to the piano, he sat down slowly and raised up the cover, letting his eyes glaze over the white and black leys. Marvelous...simply marvelous. How could a human create such an amazing thing? Zander wasn't against humans, but still...his device was magical. Not even a human, in his mind, could make something like this. Only a god could.
Well, that was another thought for another day. As he extended his arms in front of him, hearing the desired crack he needed as he let out a content sigh, he let his fingers lay silently and easiy on the keys. Taking in a deep breath he paused, counted to three mentally, and then, let his fingers do the work. A soft, yet virbrantly colored mixture of notes floating through the air as the teenage man played one of his favorite songs by heart ;Thousand Miles.
After the introducion was done, which was completed perfectly, he opened his mouth and began to sing. A clear, slightly higher voice then usuall came out of his throat. It was loud, but just loud enough so anyone in the room could hear it clearly, and maybe someone outisde the door, but so soft it didn't distrub anyone.
"Making my way downtown wakling fast, faces pass and I'm homebound. Staring blankly ahead, just makingmy way, making my way through them crowds... And I need you, and I miss you, and now I wonder... If I could fall, into the sky, do you think time, would pass me by, cuz you know I'd walk a thousand miles if I coudl just see you...tonight..." He sung as his fingers moved quickly on the piano.
He was, what do you call it, in the zone right now? Yes, that was it. He was like, in an astral state. He wouldn't even notice someone who entered the door...or who most likely snuck up behind him. Yep, the mutant was completely lost in music.

Valentino liked Pryde Institute well enough, but sometimes it was just plain infuriating. For instance, if a student were to, say, fall asleep in class, a normal teacher at a normal school would merely wake him up and maybe give said student detention, which usually called for more sleeping in a classroom. Unfortunately, the same didn't go for the Institute. Val had, understandably, fallen asleep during his math class and instead of just getting a detention, his professor had made him tutor. As in help kids with their homework. And not only that, but he had to do it early in the morning. It was probably the worst form of punishment for Valentino. He didn't like waking up in the morning, he didn't have the patience for teaching, and he certainly did not like little kids who didn't understand the concept of dividing fractions. It was enough to make him implode. Or at least scream and tear his hair out of his head and he had come very close to standing up and yelling, but he'd decided that making little kids cry would only earn him yet another one of these horrid mornings.
Dragging himself out the classroom, Valentino was prepared to go back to his dorm and sleep. He didn't want to have to talk to anyone anymore today and just wanted to be alone. If he had to see one more math problem, he'd probably lose it and people always seemed to be doing their homework around the Institute. It was completely absurd. But as Val dragged himself down the hallway toward the dormitories, he heard music. Or at least he thought he heard music. He could have just been driven insane by the lack of math skills the kid he had to tutor possessed. But as he kept walking, he was able to discern definite notes and noticed that they were coming from the music room. Surprise. As much as he wanted to go back to his dorm, Valentino was curious and he found himself making his way toward the classroom.
Slipping quietly inside, Valentino saw that someone was sitting at the piano, playing and singing. It didn't even take him a second to realize who the pianist was and a smirk found its way onto his face. Zander Colt. Well, Val was definitely glad that he came to investigate. But as much as he wanted to interrupt, he kept his mouth shut and found a chair to sit down in. He leaned back in it and listened to the song. It wasn't exactly his type of music (he preferred hard rock and classic rock), but he could appreciate good music skills when he heard them. After all, Val couldn't play anything on any sort of instrument (he'd never had the desire to), so the fact that Zander could play a song and sing along was impressive in Val's book.
The technopath waited patiently for the end of the song to come and once it did, he clapped loudly from behind the other boy, making his presence known. "Bravo!" he called out, the nonchalant smirk still positioned on his face. He was still leaning casually back in his chair and made no move to approach Zander. While he, admittedly, wouldn't have minded getting a bit closer to the other boy, Val didn't want to seem too eager. He wanted to play it cool as he usually did.

Ok, so the musical instrument that he was so found of, was causing him so much enjoyment right now. He hadn't played the piano in about...three weeks and he really missed it. right now, he was just, so pleased with himself; and it showed. A quaint smile was presnt on the teen's face as his fingers moved on the instrument. His shoulders moved slightly to the beat also as he continued to play, his voice becoming more care free, a bit louder and more clear also. Ahh, singing and playing the piano...the best combination that ever existed.
As he finished up the song, and his fingers slowed to nothing more then a single touch of the last key, the man opened his eyes slowly as he held the last note, before sighing contently. It was a nice session...he had nailed the song, and he was on beat. His piano playing only had one note mistake in it, but no-one would have noticed it, most likely.
But, the silence that was the aftermath of the song was shattered by a voice. The teeanger's eyes opened completely as he jumped up. His right hand ignited in a purple colored, warm, dancing flame. He pivoted easily on his feet as he looked at the intruder of his paradise, a scowl fully shown on his face.
OK, so why was he so upset? Well, breaking Zander's music, is like breaking his own sleep. Anyone, anyone who was interupted when they were sleeping would act the same, anger and frustration...it was just human nature...or mutant nature...some type of nature.
But the cold eyes softened a bit and the flames receded as he saw who it was. He smiled very lightly as the flames disappeared with nothing more then a soft crackle. The offensive position turned back into a casual one, a huge smirk on his face as he looked at Val...hm...this was turning interesting.
"Why, thank you." He said with a cocky bow as he stood back up and smirked a bit more. "I've been practicing it for some time." He said as he walked over to get a bit closer to the man. "Now, what do I owe the pleasure of your company, Val?" He asked.

Admittedly, Val was a bit startled by Zander's reaction. The other boy lept from his seat and spun, scowl on his face, hand on fire. Well, now that wasn't what Val expected. But the mafia prince remained in his seat and aside from tensing up a little, didn't move from his position. He was confident that Zander wouldn't hurt him. Some people were impulsive, but they wouldn't be so impulsive as to start throwing fireballs in the middle of a classroom. After all, that's what all of this teaching stuff had been for. It was supposed to help them control their powers and not blow up on anyone and everyone. Of course, Val could be said to be brash at times, but he'd managed to keep his powers in check for the most part and he knew how to keep a handle on himself. Besides, Val just didn't feel threatened all that easily, which was understandable, considering the family he'd in raised by.
And just as Valentino had thought, Zander seemed to cool down at the sight of him. The scowl was replaced by a nice little smile and the flames had disappeared from his hands; it was good to know that Zander wouldn't be turning him into fried chicken anytime soon, although Val had to admit, the battle mode Zander had gotten his adrenaline pumping for more than one reason. Valentino did always have a taste for a bit of excitement and danger and well, Zander looking as though he was going to attack was very attractive for all intents and purposes. But Val supposed the normal, calm Zander was far easier to have a decent conversation with.
"Why, thank you. I've been practicing it for some time." Valentino remained casually leaning in his chair as he watched Zander walk toward him. Val kept his eyes coolly on Zander, being cautious as to what emotions he allowed on his face. While some people had the tendency to wear their emotions on their sleeves, Valentino was always careful about what he showed people. He wanted to see what the other person had on the table before putting down his own hand. He liked to play things smart. "Now, what do I owe the pleasure of your company, Val?"
"Well, apparently, falling asleep in math class has become a crime punishable by torture," Valentino said. "I just spent my morning trying to explain the process of dividing fractions to... I don't even know his name." He laughed lightly. "I was walking back to the dorms and I heard you, so here I am." He smirked at Zander. "And let me just say, this has put me in a much better mood." There was mischievous sort of glint in Valentino's eyes as he looked at Zander, but he didn't give the other boy anything else. Why not test the waters a little? Or maybe Val just liked being a tease.
