As of right now, since Scarlet isn't extremely trained in her ability, she can only slow down, accelerate, and stop time for an hour. Also, her ability only works within the immediate vicinity. For instance, if she freezes everyone in a room, but there is a glass window blocking the entry way to the next room, the people in the other room will be unaffected. Also, sometimes this power mixes up her personal time table and she might think it's two o'clock when it's four.

Scarlet can best be described as an exotic beauty. While there are many girls who are pretty and sweet in appearance, Scarlet's attributes, while beautiful, are almost so intense that they appear intimidating and unapproachable. This is not aided by the fact that this daughter of Elementals holds herself with an air of superiority and can most frequently be found looking down her nose at most people.

Scarlet was blessed with an uncommon porcelain-like complexion. Her skin is smooth and soft, and is a milky, white color. Long, black hair (occasionally other colors) cascades down her back in loose waves which she will sometimes straighten or curl, depending on what she feels like. Her hair is her pride and joy and she takes very good care of it, grooming it excessively. She can often be seen running her fingers through her long locks, or flicking it over her shoulder in order to enjoy the comforting weight of it upon her back.

Scarlet's face is beautiful as well, with angular, defined cheekbones and full, plump lips. Her chin and jaw are slightly pointed, giving her an eternal look of defiance and pride. Her eyes are her most entrancing feature; they are set below perfectly arched, slender black eyebrows and are a gray so deep that they frequently appear black. Against the milky white skin of her face, her eyes stand out like stars in the sky. Her eyes are heavily lidded and framed by long, black eyelashes.

She is tall for a girl of her age, standing at 5’11” and towering over most girls her age, and even some boys. Scarlet's legs are long, her torso is flat and her breasts are a well fitting C-cup, giving her a very impressive silhouette with almost perfect measurements. She has elegant, long fingers which end in perfectly manicured nails. Sometimes she will paint them a dark or blood red, other times she settles for a simple French manicure.

Scarlet's voice is something unique because it is quite deep and lustrous for a girl. However it is not unflattering upon her, for her voice tends to be velvety and smooth, kind of the way most jazz singers sound when singing. Her fashion sense is limited to expensive and stylish clothes which are always perfectly fitted to show off her good figure. However, that is not to say she doesn't have physical faults. Her nose is slightly larger than she'd like, but she hides it well. Scarlet also has large feet, but she is constantly wearing socks, shoes, or slippers to try and hide that.

Personality:

Scarlet is a very intense, profound, and a powerful character. Even when she appears self-controlled and calm there is a seething intensity of emotional energy under the placid exterior. She is like the volcano not far under the surface of a calm sea; it may burst into eruption at any moment. But those of us who are particularly perceptive will be aware of the harnessed aggression, the immense forcefulness, magnetic intensity, and often strangely hypnotic personality under the tranquil, but watchful composure of Scarlet. In conventional social gatherings she is pleasant to be with, thoughtful in conversation, dignified, and reserved, yet affable and courteous; she sometimes possess penetrating eyes which makes her shyer companions feel naked and defenseless before her.

In her everyday behavior she gives the appearance of being withdrawn from the center of activity, yet those who know her will recognize the watchfulness that is part of her character. She needs great self-discipline, because she is able to recognize the qualities in herself that make her different from other people, and to know her utterly conventional nature can be used for great good or great evil. Her tenacity and willpower are immense, her depth of character and passionate conviction overwhelming, yet she is deeply sensitive and easily moved by her emotions. Her sensitivity, together with a propensity for extreme likes and dislikes make her easily hurt, quick to detect insult or injury to herself (often when none is intended) and easily aroused to ferocious anger. This may express itself in such destructive speech or action that she makes lifelong enemies by her outspokenness, for she finds it difficult not to be overly critical of anything or anyone to whom she takes a dislike.

Scarlet can harness her abundant energy constructively, tempering her self-confidence with shrewdness and heir ambition with magnanimity toward others provided she like them. She relates to fellow workers only as a leader and can be blunt to those she dislikes to the point of cruelty. In fact she is not above expressing vindictiveness in deliberate cruelty. She is too demanding, too unforgiving of faults in others, perhaps because she is not aware of the shortcomings within herself, and extravagantly expresses her self-disgust in unreasonable resentment against her fellows. She does, however, make an excellent friend, provided that her companions do nothing to impugn the honor of which Scarlet is very jealous. Part of the negative side of her nature is a tendency to discard friends once they cease to be useful, but the decent native is aware of, and fights this tendency.

She is fortunate in that her strong reasoning powers are tempered with imagination and intuition, and these gifts, together with critical perception and analytical capacity, can enable her to penetrate to profundities beyond the average. She has a better chance of becoming a genius than her brother. But charismatic "twice-born" characters such as her can sink into the extremes of depravity if she takes the wrong path, and the intensity of her nature exaggerates her harmful tendencies into vices far greater than the normal. Rebelliousness against all conventions, political extremism to the point where hatred of the establishment makes her an utterly unscrupulous terrorist. Brooding resentment, aggressive and sadistic brutality, total arrogance, morbid jealousy, extreme volatility of temperament, these are some of her vices. At the other extreme is the procrastinator, the woman who is capable of so much that she does nothing and becomes indolent and self-indulgent, requiring extravagant praise and flattery from those whom she makes her cronies.

Being so gifted, Scarlet can find fulfillment in many employments. Her inner intensity can result in the ice-cold self-control and detachment of the surgeon, the concentration of the research scientist, and the heroism of the soldier. Any profession in which analysis, investigation, research, dealing with practicalities, and the solving of mysteries are relevant, can appeal to her. So police and detective work, espionage and counterespionage, the law, physics or psychology may attract her, and she can become a master of the written and spoken word. She may be a most persuasive orator and find fulfillment as a diplomat or preacher and, if she makes the Church her profession, her inner intensity can express itself in the spiritual fervor of the mystic or the thaumaturgy.

Scarlet is the symbol of sex and she is a passionate lover, the most sensually energetic. For her, union with the beloved is a sacrament, an "outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual grace." Her overriding urge in loving is to use her power to penetrate beyond herself and to lose herself sexually in her partner in an almost mystical ecstasy, thus discovering the meaning of that union which is greater than individuality, and is a marriage of the spirit as well as of flesh. She is thus capable of the greatest heights of passionate transport, but debauchery and perversion are always dangers, and Scarlet can become a sadistic monster of sensuality and eroticism. Her feelings are so intense that even when her love is of the highest and most idealistic kind, she is nevertheless frequently a protagonist in tragic, even violent romances, "star-crossed lovers".

Scarlet Murphy was born to Maria and Miles Murphy on October 30, in a hospital in London. Miles was a journalist from Ireland, who came to Britain on an assignment, where he met and fell in love with Maria, and took up permanent residence. The Murphys were a happy and caring if busy family. Though not rich, the Murphys were very well off and she has never experienced true hardship. Her parents were loving, although (as both had extremely important and demanding jobs) very preoccupied, her mother as a detective, and her father as a journalist. She quickly learned to cope by herself, always being very independent and was quite happy with her way of life.

She had a happy childhood, filled with many memories. It was always said that from a young age, she was cheeky and filled with attitude. But, she was just so sweet that you couldn’t help but forgive her. And it was true. She would steal from the cupboards as soon as she could walk, she would make remarks very inappropriate for a child as soon as she could talk. But opened those wide, innocent eyes and you just melted. When it came to speech she was a very fast learner, and currently speaks English, French and Italian fluently. Spending so much time with her father, she does have a slight Irish accent which - as she enunciated her words clearly - is prominent.

At the age of four she was hugged, kissed, and bundled off to preschool. That was when the oddities started. It was the trouble-maker in her, of course, but nobody else knew that. She was also always lucky. It was something that seemed to hang around her – when she didn’t do her homework, the teacher didn’t ask for it. She got the last tickets to the show. The rock fell on the person behind her. She was, inexplicably, lucky. In any case, it seemed that she had a natural knack for smoke alarms.

At six, they moved to New Jersey, when her father was offered a job at a newspaper there. Scarlet being a slight recluse, she didn’t mind much, not having many friends. At fourteen years of age, there it was, a blessing when a letter explained to them that Scarlet was ‘special’, and she was promptly cried on, and bundled off to New York for th Pryde Institute, Unfortunately, when she got to New York, the person who greeted her was not the leader of the X-Men. No, it was someone from the Brotherhood. Scarlet didn't know the difference, so she figured they were both the same but just different in the very slightest. When she joined up with them she found out about how there were bounty hunters after mutants like her, and that she should do everything she could not to get caught using her abilities.

Scarlet didn't quite understand, as she and her family didn't really pay much attention to the world outside their family. So she hadn't known that mutants were hated and wanted dead. But just these words already made her angry. She was wanted dead just because she had special abilities? Just because she was superior? Because she had been included in the evolution and the majority of humanity hadn't? Well, that certainly wasn't fair. So over the last four years Scarlet has been helping out the Brotherhood in every way she can. Of course, she had sent letters to her parents telling them she wasn't with the X-Men, but rather another group just like her. Her parents had always been so understanding of her, and had always loved her, but over the last few months they seem to be further and further away from Scarlet. She's unaware of it, but they are just one push away from telling bounty hunters and the government of what their daughter is.
