Mutations: Umbrakinesis. Rather than normal Umbrakinesis, Jesse's mutation allows him to travel through the shadows for as long as he likes. Enhanced senses. Jesse's enhanced senses give him heightened senses of smell, sight, hearing, taste and touch.
Weaknesses in mutations: Once a light is shone on a shadow, Jesse appears wherever he would've been travelling along it at the time. Also, Jesse cannot jump from shadow to shadow, he may only travel through shadows which are connected with no light shining between them. If a light is shone on a small part of the shadow, he can simply travel around it, however.

Overall appearance: He isn’t the most intimidating of teachers when he confronts a student. They don’t find him terrifyingly scary. Who would, really? His hair is long in comparison to a few people, though there are the people with hair by their backsides. So compared to the biker-like people, his hair would be short. But for now we’ll just say it’s a medium length, hmm? Scruffy, medium-length, dark brown hair. Whilst working at PI, he’s been a strangely fashionable teacher, his hair being various numbers of colours over the six years he’s been working here. Whilst in school, however, it was always the same every year, mainly because he and his mother couldn’t afford to style his hair like other children, buying products and other things. So instead he wore his second-hand clothes and had his hair covering his eyes most of the time. His clothes were always tattered and stained. Now he wears brightly coloured robes every day, varying depending on his mood, or possibly the day of the week. He’s (self-proclaimed) one of the most luminous teachers at the Institute.

Personality: Jesse would like to think that he’s a fun teachers; not the type who’d shout just to get your attention or throw a curse at the wall if someone was eating in class (as long as they gave him one). Instead he’s rather laid back, but that doesn’t mean that exam results suffer, instead he just teaches the lessons easily so that the students can remember them easily, which means they’d pass their exams easily. He’s always willing to help someone out if they need it, whether it’s with a personal or professional issue; student or teacher.

On the 11th of July, 31 years ago, Felicity Aamodt was walking through the small village in Ireland where her family had lived for two generations on a warm summer’s night. The village had an extremely low crime rate, with over half of the crime being littering from the tourists who passed through. Though on this night, a man attacked Felicity, dragging her into a sheltered area. Nine months later, on the 16th of April, Jesse was born. His mother had moved within the nine months, away from where they lived in Ireland and toward a part of New York where one of her friends was living at the time. Her friend had kindly let her stay, though after a few months of Jesse being born, she became tired of the crying and “smell” of the young boy. So Felicity was made to move, though having little money she had to borrow a lot off of her parents. Her parents only had little money, but nonetheless they gave what they could to their daughter to keep her in a home. Felicity had managed to obtain a small apartment in the centre of London. There was no view whatsoever, with only one small window; there was a terrible noise throughout the day and night from buses driving past outside; and the family next door were always yelling and screaming. Somehow, Jesse managed to sleep. Though all children do at young ages, no matter where they are, just like old men.

Though Jesse grew up as normal as his mother could afford, he still asked about his father from time to time. But by the time he was seven he’d just stopped altogether. His mother wasn’t going to tell him, so there was no need to ask. He’d been going to a public school since the age of five, learning the basics and a little of the more advanced subjects, as he was a particularly smart child, though he didn’t really exceed in anything in particular. Upcoming to his 11th birthday, Jesse was walking down a hallway in school when his leg disappeared into a shadow on the floor, despite as much as he tried, it was like quicksand, the harder you pulled the faster you sank in. Jesse had then disappeared completely into the shadow, but the strange thing was he could still see everything and everyone, it was just they couldn't see him.

The Pryde Institute had picked up on a mutant presence in the New York school and tracked down Jesse's home, telling him mother about the danger he could be in if he didn't go to the Pryde Institute to learn to control these powers. Ten years after he had joined the school, he became an X-man and a teacher, teaching students about stealth when on dangerous missions. At this time, he had a job in town in a coffee shop, sending as much of his pay check as he could to his mother to keep her on her feet. Though living alone for the many years while Jesse had been at the Institute had slowly deteriorated his mothers mind and she ended up killing herself a year after Jesse had gotten the job at the Institute.
