Welcome

Welcome to London, England. It is the year 2010 and the paranormal are now common knowledge. Other creatures such as angels, demons, vampires, and werewolves are coming out into the mainstream. Some are accepted by humankind while many still are not. However, the supernatural don't only have the "civilians" to deal with. There are also hunters out there, seeking a thrill or revenge.

In England, it is 16 to smoke, vote, join the army and consent to sex. It is 18 to purchase cigarettes and to drink.

The music was like a heart beat pounding life back into her unwanting soul. It was hard, fast, forceful as it vibrated across her skin and Eden wanted more. She followed the smell of sweat and the sounds of home through the alleyway and onto a street she hadn't ventured to yet. The town was still new to her but Sage wasn't lost, she knew where she was going, to the cover of lust. She could feel them, she could sense the blood simmering beneath the flesh, and the dark intentions of shadow and booze. It called to her.

And so Sage was drawn into the 'Elements'. She could tell that her hooded eyes and uncovering dress was what allowed her inside since the club seemed more welcoming to men. Sage doubted that just any woman could purr herself into this haven of magic and sin freely while still managing to convince a guy to buy her a drink. This was a cheap place, this England. Smiling in a rather sweet way for the corruption that hid behind it Sage accepted the drink offered to her and kissed her thanks to the man.

It was half an hour and three drinks later that Sage was able to lose the guy who kept crowding her. Not that she minded the attention, but the feeling of being trapped was all too familiar to be allowed to stay, so she fled. Rushing between the crowd and flame wielders Sage found herself alone among the crowd at the bar. She watched as the couples danced their own private tango's and the men converted to animal instincts as intoxication set it. It was beautiful, and for now Sage was curious to watch it unfold....

Belial straightened his coca-cola can red silk shirt and buttoned the middle button on his heavy leather peacoat. He didn't feel the cold, or warmth, really, he just liked how the clothes make him look prettier. He looked outrageously handsome today and he knew it. The uneven walk on the side of the road tried to catch his thigh high ballet heel boots but he still managed to put a sway into his walk as he, to use a new term, "checked out" his playground. He brushed his fingers over the tops of his boots and put more sway into his walk. He smiled lopsidedly at everyone who stared at him. Sometimes, he thought, he was just too gorgeous for this world.

Belial Walked down the hardly interesting street and stopped before a door. "Well, hello then." He smiled at the neon above the door and straightened his coat. Time for some fun, he thought. He entered into the... what was this thing called again? Last time he'd bothered to check places that sold this were just temples, temples with whores but temples none the less.

He mentally shook his head. He used to like churches. Til those humans screwed it all up. Silly things. He entered into the main area and the sounds and smells and, of course, the sites assaulted him. He smiled and put more sex into his walk. How he loved the degenerates. He sidled up to the bar and perched upon a seat, surveying the area. He leaned back against the bar, no. Belial lounged casually.

And... He waited. Eventually some poor soul would catch his scent, unknowingly, and be drawn to him. He swore, this was like catching fish on a plate, cooked and served with peaches.

Sage knew, even through her misty senses, that she wasn’t the only ‘un-human’ thing inside. Of course that didn’t mean that she was able to sense exactly who were who and what was what. It was all just too intertwined in the air and sweat to pin point anything and she wasn’t dumb enough to ask since Lycan’s were still too frowned on for her to draw that much attention to herself. Too many mortals, too much prejudice. It made Sage giggle. Leaning further back on the wall she scanned her eyes back towards the bar.

Everything was the same, lush and wanton, but the out of place man who now sat in one of the chairs that had been empty moments ago. He seemed to ‘beautiful’ to be here, not that the men here were not well looking. No there was just something different about the man in the leather coat. She watched him from the corner of her eye, unwilling to admit fascination, and finally smiled. He was arrogant, women loved that. Sage continued to watch as one of the other women in the club swayed seductively over to him. How would he react?

Would he fall all over himself like the other men? Would he be too clumsy in his interactions? From the looks of it Sage doubted it. Something about him told her he’d surprise her, now all she had to do was watch. However, as the woman grew closer Sage got a better view of her and tried not to chuckle. Was that a drunken stagger or a sultry waltz? Sage couldn’t decide and found she could deny the curiosity burning side her, after all she was a cat. So, she sat on the other end of the bar and waited. How would a devil react to a pretty woman in a little red dress and would he notice he had an audience?

Belial ran his fingers through his hair. There was an odd scent in the air. Sort of like that of someone who owned a cat. A big cat. A hot cat. By hot, he, of course, meant one suited to hotter climates such as desserts and the such. Belial had spent long enough on Earth to differentiate scents. There was a were-kitty in here. Oh, he so adored were-cats. They always had the softest fur. He loved playing with kitties. He liked being able to dangle the right string in front of their faces.

He looked out in the crowd with renewed interest. He wondered, briefly, what he would smell like to her. He smelled different to everyone and he never got over the interpretations. He smiled at the small bit of cunning from the Almighty. To make his angels smell of that which humans love most. The last time he asked he was told he smelled like fabreeze. Humans were strange things...

Speaking of, he thought. An obviously intoxicated woman staggered up next to him and opened her mouth. He didn't much pay attention, he knew from one look that there was nothing worthwhile about her. And he should know. He had a kingdom made of worthlessness.

He turned to her in the middle of whatever it is she was saying. He grimaced mentally. She was hideous. Modern women. They have no idea how to be a woman. He didn't say a single thing, simply looked at her. The woman was captured by his eyes. Belial smiled at her in condescending amusement. He tucked her hair behind her ear and whispered in her ear. "You will not find release from your sins in this body, human. I offer no such solace." He smiled again down at her and she smiled dully and walked, unsteadily, away.

He sighed and returned to his previous lounging position. What was the use of these places if he couldn't find a good play mate? Nothing, really. He should just level the place. All these people were too easy. Too little fun. He could tell from here that most, if not all of them, were not right for play. Sure, they'd make nice mice to throw in a maze but not much else.

He let his eyes scan the humans once again.

Ah, so mister mystery man did not like to play? It still made for an interesting show however, to see that woman’s attempt fail so beautifully before she even opened her mouth. Who was this man to send a woman away speechless and glazed eyed? Sage had a knot in her stomach over the thought and she wondered briefly if this was the sort of creature she knew better than to stalk. Marius had taught her about creatures like that, ones you didn’t mess with even as a skilled hunter, much less a runaway kitten. Of course, Sage had never met one. Marius had kept her too closed off and after she had ran from him only shadows and weakling had greeted her.

Turning her attention and asking for mint water from one of the bartender’s Sage kept to her seat but adverted her eyes from the man. Maybe this game was not one worth playing, even in her sober mind Sage knew better then to play with certain fires. The submission didn’t last long however as curiosity got the better of her once more and she looked back up at him. From the way he scanned the crowd she wondered if he didn’t sense her. Could he smell her or did he just feel her among the crowd of humans? He looked like a predator, if he spotted her would she be the prey? Too many questions, and why was she so curious? Because he was the strongest thing in here and they both knew it.

Deciding she couldn’t fight the cat in her anymore Sage slipped from her spot at the bar. She weaved through the crowd gracefully, careful to not be to obvious lest someone suspected what she was, and landed herself a seat down from where he was. Her heartbeat found the music, her skin found the caution it needed in case running became a desire, and her head found his scent- Strawberries and Milk. How odd. ”You know, I think you are probably one of the only people I have ever seen who could pull off a silk shirt and leather coat.” Okay, yes, not the best first line in a game of ‘cat and mouse’. And what made it worse was that Sage didn’t even know which one she would become- the cat or the mouse. Deciding to not take it so seriously since, from the looks of him, he wouldn’t Sage motioned over at the people to avoid that area of conversation.

”You like to watch?”

Belial smiled inwardly and exclaimed: kitty! in his head. He loved cats. Outwardly he raised an eyebrow and smirked at her statement. Whether it was because she was a cat or because she seemed more interesting, he didn't know but she might be a little fun... if only for a while.

"I can pull off a lot of things." He said with a smirk and eyes her again. He watched her closely. She wasn't particularly his favorite type of look but she would due for now. Lucky for him he was in a very diverse city. He'd have time for clergymen later, for now he'd play with the cat.

It wasn't like he was in a hurry and he doubted his visit would end like the last... Who knew an entire town could be so flammable? He curled his lip in to what most would consider a smile and looked at her. "I've done a considerable amount of watching in my life and I came to a decision quite a very long time ago..."

He smiled conspiratorially and leaned in to her. "It's much more fun to do than to watch." He pulled his lips back from his teeth in a sort of cruel smile.

"Now I have a query with you, kitty cat. What do I smell like? And be honest, trust me when I tell you I know a lie when I see it,," He gave an abrupt chuckle and a quirked eyebrow.
"I know lies very intimately."

His answer caused an inward smile to form, although she was careful not to allow it to show. It would not do for him to see how curious or amused she was and give him the advantage, so, she merely took a sip of her drink instead. It was all for play anyway. Sage somehow doubted any of this would come out in a positive, and healthy, light. ”You seem quite confident in that.” Why was her cat so hypnotized? Silly kitty. Didn’t she see how the man spoke with silk laced words and his whole body screamed ‘serpent’.

serpent? But that’s what she perceived, a seductive snake waiting to pounce. How exciting and oh, so very, dangerous. Like liquid fire. Sage didn’t relax any more when she saw him smile and heard his words continue. From the sounds of him he was either a very observant person or very old for his skin. Sage suspected the lather. Then he leaned closed to her and Sage winced, he smelled good, too good. ”Something tells me you’ve had a long enough time to do your fair share of both. However, I do have to agree. ‘Doing’ is much more fun then watching.”

It may have sounded more sexual to the outsider then Sage had meant for it to, but she couldn’t help the perverse minds of men. All she meant to the mystery man was for a game. She wanted to tell him she’d play and she figured he might sense that. However, when his smile turned cruel Sage could hear Marius’s voice in the back of her head telling her to run. There were always predators, why should this one be any different? Sage wanted to find out. She always did enjoy playing with fire. Then, there was that voice again and she arched a brow at his question. It sparked something in her, Why would a grown man smell like he did?

”Strawberries.” She said pausing in thought on whether or not she should continue with the second part. Deciding it was just too good to pass up Sage leaned in even closer to his ear and purred ”And milk.. After all, he had used the word ‘intimately’ first! And then it hit her. She had read about this, in one of the books Marius had kept her so enthralled in. Angel’s smelled like your favorite scent…Sage bristled at that thought and went to stand.
”Fallen? I don’t mess with you’re kind. “ She whispered to him figuring if anyone over heard them they’d just assume she was talking about his arrogance more then his species. ”I’m a bad, but I’m not that bad.”

Belial had to smile. "Smart kitty. If you must know, I was not a forced fallen. He did not cast me out." Belial looked up as he said he then looked at the kitty and smiled. "I left of my own will. Out of shame. My son... had done many horrid things and I..." Belial paused and looked down. "I couldn't stand being in His Grace knowing I had been part of what caused..." He trailed off and shook his head.

"I came in here for a game, cat, not to be judged." Belial laughed. "To be judged... You know, that used to be my job. To judge you humans. I would look and see all of your faults, your sins, your goods..." He stood up in anger.

"I was not an evil angel, but simply one who couldn't stand the thought anymore. He allowed me to fall so that I could find peace among men. I see none here."

Belial looked at her from behind his hair. The nerve of some humans. To act so righteous when she had less stand than he. Belial straightens his coat.

"I don't imagine this to get any better. It was probably foolish of me to think I could find solace among..." He shakes his head and juts his jaw out.

"You know, Kitty Cat, I have not lost any of his love for anything that I have done. Have you? Do you even feel Him in your heart anymore?"

Belial leaned in to her and stared her close in the eye, studying. Because he had been what he had been he could see her sins before his eyes, her sins and her holy acts. He would have laughed if it wouldn't have ruined the moment. If it were possibly, she was worse than him.

He wondered, idly, what this human would think of his eyes, most angels didn't have the eyes he did, hell (He snickered at his use of the word inwardly,) most devils didn't. The irises were a light, almost copper brown on the outside, then a medium honey brown in the middle, followed by a dark, almost black brown in the center. They looked like tunnels at the right light. They were strange, and had always been strange.

Some of the devils he had met that knew of his bitterness towards his anointment would say they were a manifestation of his worthlessness. That if, as humans say, the eyes were windows into the soul that he was empty, a husk, and worthless as his name.
