Just wanted whomever is interested in the Ketogenic diet that the Charlie Foundation has redone and updated their website at www.charliefoundation.org It even has a community forum there that was just launched today. This is the most accurate website concerning the ketogenc diet.

I'll have to check it out. My new doc wants me to consider the diet.

I went to this site last night and plan to visit it regularly.I am hoping to be able to contribute some recipes that will benefit and contribute some tastey meals. :hbeat:
I am glad this exists. I am interested in this diet so much because of how it benefitted me. Although I have no neurological issues ( well at least none that I have knowledge of  ) but when I began doing Atkins which is not as ketogenic as the KD my migraines vanished as did several other maladies such as joint pain. Many would conclude that it was the weight loss that helped my joints but I believe that it was the diet because I gained all the weight back without the return of the pain. I do want to add that I re-lost the weight and I struggle keeping it off, yet my health flourishes. Because of the way this diet has helped my little aches and pains, it makes sense to me that it can help others with more serious issues. So, I've increased the ketogenic properties of my diet by increasing my fat intake and fasting. I appreciate the VNS message board and the support that it gives to this diet. |

Hi Black! I thought you had dissappeared and am glad to see that you are still around! How are you doing?
I was going to ask you to post your recipes for us over on the Charlie Foundation website and still will. Just wanted you to know I appreciate all the posts you made and being honest about not being on the diet for seizures on the Charlie Foundation website. Like you, I also believe the diet can help with other medical problems. Scott is more medically stable now while being on the diet than he's ever been in his life. He was also really medically stable the 1st time we were on the diet too. It's just really, really shocking at the difference the ketogenic diet can make in someone. I still sometimes cry true tears of joy simply thinking how fast we went from having hundreds of seizures a day and being confined to a wheelchair to doing things we never dared to think he could do. I have actually allowed myself to imagine Scott being 30 or even 50 years old. He is learning something new every single day- trying his best to learn everything he wasn't able to learn thanks to the seizures and the side effects of the medications. It really is a miracle. Take care, Fay |
