There are so many things that can go on here, since they're merging genders for the first time at this school. There are three natural reactions to the boys being accepted.

1. Enthusiasm: Teenage girls are going to LOVE gender integration. It's the most logical reaction

2. Opposition: While they will be in the minority, there will be those that they are ruining the school's prestige by shying away from tradition. This reaction will probably be more predominant in adults, more notably the conservative ones.

3. Indifference: Who cares? It's still school and I still have to be there every day. :@@@

I'm guessing the Head of the School had to be diplomatic and take in a male as second in command. They might butt heads there and I'm sure there are ways to convey that school wide.

Students themselves, the girls that have already been here for over a year might be intimidated by new people trying to take their positions in things they are really into like newspapers, student council, etc. Plus add the usual teenage tension and add some glitter. More plottage
