Thomas

"It's freezing," announced Thomas to himself. He lowered himself onto the sand and leaned back casually, placing all his weight on his sandy palms. Of course, it was freezing: he was by the colder-than-ice-cold lake. During his final year as a Sunrise camper, Thomas had decided to act brave and swim in it. Since then he had swam in it at least once every summer, because he liked the challenge, and he enjoyed coming home to his friends and saying: "I swam in a lake this summer." Those city kids never even swam at the beach, which Thomas thought was depressing. His plans today were not to swim, however. There is no such ridiculous human being who would dare to swim in those cold waters on a windy day like this.

Thomas brushed his crimson hair out of his face, to no such triumph - they flew into his face again. He stared at the canoes and kayaks, grinning. It would be interesting to kayak in these waves and winds. Thomas was much better when it came to canoeing, but only when there was someone else with him. Since Thomas had no one to canoe with, he decided kayaking would be just as fun. He got up and brushed the sand off his pants. Thomas took his time getting to the kayaks (which weren't all too far), to admire the view. It never stopped stunning him. As a city kid, Thomas rarely ever saw these kinds of beauties.

"Hmph," grunted Thomas, getting a kayak off the rack. He grabbed a life vest and a paddle, then pushed the kayak into the water. "Here goes nothing," he murmured to himself. Thomas got into the kayak and went off into the Lake.

KERIA

Seriously, who would want to swim in a cold, icy lake that could possible kill a person if not taken well care after the swim? Keira found people who did something like that silly, and irresponsible. They didn’t care about their body, which was totally their business, but if they caught a cold because of it, the staff would need to take care of them and people would worry for them. What if they died because of the avoidable cold? Their parents would blame the camp, and perhaps even sue the camp. At the end, the camp would need to end because of those silly brats.

But despite all of the above, Keira, underneath, wanted to try to go into the cold water, to feel the excitement.

That was half of the reason why she was walking to the lake, because as cautious as the girl could be, she wanted to do some investigation first, to see if she could bare the low temperature. Today was windy, and since it was the countryside, the only barrier would be the trees. However, the trees somehow block the wind and then the cold air would just circle and circle around the lake area, which ‘helped’ keeping the low temperature.

A kayak was floating in the lake. Keira narrowed her eyes to try to recognise the person who was controlling the boat. Red hair… and pale skin… Would it be the boy who called Thomas in Dusk? Probably, since there weren’t many redheads in this camp, it must be Thomas.

Her eyes brightened up as she shouted, “Meyer!” and was waving at him. Even though he was a joker and sometimes Keira thought he could never be serious, she found him interesting enough. At least he was belonged to the category of ‘silly but not stupid’ in Keira’s heart. At the same time, she tried to get onto a kayak and join him.

Thomas laid the paddle on the still water beside him. He was near the middle of the lake, far from the shore. "Meyer!" Thomas spun around, causing the kayak to tilt a little. He panicked and grabbed the edge of the kayak, steadying it. His heartbeat slowed, relaxing. Thomas looked back up, but he still couldn't recognize the person who had called his name. He probably knew this person, because she knew his last name, and he could recognize some features of the girl on the shore, so Thomas waved back.

Taking his paddle from the freezing waves, Thomas began paddling toward the shore. Oh. Keira Klemesh. She was in dusk, too, so she was a familiar face. "Hey, Klemesh," he greeted, deciding to follow the last name greetings. Thomas slowed down the kayak nearing the shore, his paddle digging into the water. She was getting into a kayak, so Thomas figured he'd wait for her. While he sat in his kayak, Thomas dipped his palm into the water, ignoring that it was turning it into a popsicle.

[OOC - I'm sorry that it is super short, but I can't think of anything dry.gif]
