The Rules:
1.) No God-modding (god-modding is the moving of another person's character, talking for that character, or inferring a reaction from that character without the player's permission to do so). Yes, sometimes this may hold up a post till you can contact the player, but patience is a virtue and being god-modded is annoying, even if it's what your character would have done anyway. This is a rule about respect of your fellow players. If mods become suspitious of a situation, we will look into it and ask if permission had been granted. And if someone is godmodding you, and you've already talked to them about it, and they've persisted please let us know.
2.) No bullying! Bullying on Witch Storm will not be tolerated. We want our players to feel safe and at home here. If an instance of bullying comes to the attention of the mods, the bully will be given one warning. A second instance of bullying, regardless of whether or not it's with the same player will lead to deactivation of your characters and banning.
3.) Let's talk about sex. You can have it, it's a big part of the world of the Blood. However, we do have underage players, and in general not everyone wants to read about your characters getting all hot and sweaty between the sheets or where-ever else you're doing it. You can have it, but warnings are a must. If a scene is planned to have sex, a warning of such with the rating of NC17 or R must be placed in the subheading. If a sexual situation develops unexpectedly, please pm a mod before the sex is posted so we can change the subheading to reflect the adult content. In these cases, we'd also like an OOC note at the beginning of the possibly offensive posts in case someone who had been reading missed the changes to the subtitle. We want Witch Storm to be a place for all our members to feel comfortable. So while sex is fun, we don't just want a bunch of random sex, you can easily allude to that in later posts without us all having to see it - if you do post the sex, it should have something important to do with your character. We don't want this board to descend into the realms of porn, if it is doing such, we'll be demanding much cleaner rules. So respect them, don't abuse them, and everyone will have a lot more fun.
4.) Character conflict. Now, you may be asking what to do if two characters come into conflict with each other. Well, obviously a darker jewel will win that sort of conflict, but what about jewels that are the same? As we know from the books, there are different levels of strength within the same jewel. To represent those differences, this board uses a system called Jewel Power. What this means is that when your Birthright and Offering jewels are rolled, you will also be rolled a number out of 100. That number represents how deep you are into your jewel's range. A score of 1 is not very strong (though still stronger than anyone in the rank previous) and 100 is as powerful as you can be without being the next jewel. So essentually the higher your number the more powerful you are within your jewel.
Now, we also don't want to see PCs killing other PCs without player permission. That said, this is also the Blood, and part of that world is dancing with the power of the jewels and the other castes, so don't give someone with the power and/or means to kill you a reason to, because if you leave someone with no other in-character option than to kill you, then they can. However, players who too often use the "I can kill you if you give me not other choice" claus will be getting a talking to from the mods, and that being said, the mods will discuss what sort of action should be taken to deal with it.
5.) Post order. This is a simple concept really, and stems again from respect for your other players. Basically it goes like this: Character A starts thread, Character B responds, and Character C after that and so on and so forth. This then cycles back to Character A, then Character B, and then Character C, etc. This is so that everyone gets a chance to respond in a scene. Otherwise you can end up with two characters in a scene being close in time zone and the other in another completely. Character C goes to bed, Characters A and B continue rping and by the time Character C gets up the next morning the scene has run away with them and apparently their character had just stood there deaf dumb and blind. So please keep a post order.
That being said, not all threads are condusive to having a post order, in these cases still try and keep in mind that other people are there, and please respect that and don't allow more than a round or so of posts go on without stopping and allowing them to post their responses and further the thread.
6.) Post Length. Witch Storm has a minimum IC (in character) post count of 250 words. This is to ensure that each post leaves the other people with something to respond to and to continue driving the scene further. There is little more annoying then when the complete burden of pushing a scene forward falls upon you. This is not to say that if you have two characters in a scene, one experienced in what is going on, and the other not (like a Master/Apprentice situation) that the the person playing the Master won't have to drive the scene more. But the Apprentice can still be more then a passive observer. So folks, please make sure you're contributing to your threads so that the other people don't feel that driving the scene is more responsibility then fun. Now, we've had this feature for a while, but now it will really be used. Under the post box is a word count box. So please check this before you post. Also, OOC notes do not count to final word count.
7.) Have fun!
