POWERS

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Seismic Energy Manipulation

Moses' mutant ability allows him to constantly generate and control seismic vibrational energy. As with most abilities, he is immune to his own powers and their effects. These shockwaves manifest themselves as semi-visual distortions in the air around Moses himself when consciously using them.

Shockwaves - Moses main application of his power is projecting the seismic energy outward as vibrational shockwaves. He can accomplish a large range of destructive displays using his powers this way, and has become very skilled over the years. By focusing his energy in a general direction(usually through his limbs), Moses can cause objects to shake themselves apart, blast people off their feet, even shatter bones and liquefy organs. Another application of this ability is similar to high powered subwoofers; get enough wattage and they put out so much vibratory pressure, it becomes hard to breathe and can lead to unconsciousness; Moses can do the same thing, but it's much easier to use brute force than finesse.

Quakes – Moses can cause localized and large scale earthquakes and tremors by directing large amounts of energy into the ground. The shockwaves do what their name implies, shake the ground to the point that tectonic plates react and begin to shift against each other. This of course causes said quakes. Using all of his energy and having perfect environmental conditions, Moses can cause up to an earthquake up to a 9.5 in magnitude; this is of course extremely difficult to accomplish, and would certainly leave him drained. He could potentially even cause tsunamis and floods if he were to direct his shockwaves into the ocean, but he's never tried, nor does he want to since the chance of him being swept up is just as high as everyone else.

Enhanced Strength - By turning the seismic energy inward, Moses can supercharge his musculature for brief periods of time, usually no longer than 15 minutes. During that time, depending on how much of his energy he's used, his strength level can shoot up to extreme levels. At the highest tiers he's solidly within the Class 100 strength class, and could fight with people like Colossus on fair ground; other times depending on how much energy he's expended before, he might not be much stronger than a normal person.

Force Field - Although not a force field per say, by concentrating his shockwaves in a spherical shape around himself or others, Moses can achieve a similar result. What concentrating the energy in area around his body does is intensify their power, causing just about any form of physical attack vulnerable to vibration to fail before reaching his body. Bullets get shaken off course, weapons get shattered, even certain types of energy can be caused to dissipate.

Hypocenter - The definition of a hypocenter is the origin point of an earthquake; Moses' version is essentially the same thing, but much more powerful in a sense. By concentrating his energies into a single point, say his fist; he can hit something and trigger a seismic explosion upon impact. He can also cause an implosion of energy if for example he surrounded a persons head with a Hypocenter.

Seismic Senses - Because his powers are connected to the Earth, Moses can sense the Earth itself; he can even sense the number of moving people around him by their footsteps. He can also eavesdrop on distant conversations by focusing on the vibrations given off during speech. This of course makes it hard to sneak up on him, but this power isn't always active, he has to be constantly focusing for the senses to be working.

WEAKNESS: Moses can generate an infinite amount of energy, as his body is constantly generating it; however he doesn't generate it all at once. He can diminish his current stores of energy and it takes time to recharge; upwards of 12 hours for a full recharge if he's expended all of his energy. His abilities, while powerful have a drawback in that they are fairly taxing at their higher levels, and going all out leaves Moses severely drained. Without his abilities, he's merely human, and anything that can hurt or kill a human, can do the same to him if he's taken by surprise or caught without his powers. His "force field" as he calls it is comprised of seismic vibrational energy, and while that serves as an excellent defense against most physical and tangible attacks, energy assaults are a different thing altogether, and it's essentially useless against them.

PERSONALITY Ojore learned early in life the basics that formed the person he is today; all that glitters isn't gold, hard work is necessary to accomplish ones goals, etc.... Today he is a man of taste, class, and culture; and while they aren't a true front, they do tend to hide his more ruthless nature. He knows he's a bad person, and he fully embraces that fact....simply because being bad has gotten him everything he always wanted....and he's come to enjoy it. He's killed, stolen, every manner of devious thing under the sun, and he's never lost a wink of sleep. On the other side though, there is a well educated, refined genius who enjoys the finer things in life and surrounds himself with opulence because he can. Because of this, Ojore tries to keep a tight reign on his emotions, but life and many trying situations have made that difficult; this results in him loosing his cool much more often than he'd like. He is also a smooth talker, a person who tries to tell people what they want to hear, while at the same time trying to get them to agree with him. As a person whose accustomed to both physical, political, and corporate power, Moses doesn't take orders well; however that doesn't mean he won't defer to someone who knows the situation better than he.....but he doesn't have to like it.

HISTORY: PRE-APOCALYPSE Ojore was born in 1979 to Ekevu and Buseje Musa; they'd tried several times to have children over the years, and were on the verge of giving up when Ojore came into the picture. The middle aged couple lived in the center of Ethiopia's capitol, Addis Ababa; Ekevu was a researcher for the Ethiopian branch of the Deterrence Research Corporation, while Buseje was a professor at Addis Ababa University. Life was good for the small family, and young Ojore began to show signs of a very high intellect early on. He was infinitely fascinated with his father's work, and before he was four, he was determined to be a technological designer. Aside from being hailed as a child prodigy, Ojore lived a normal life and had fun as a child should.

When he was about 13, his father decided to take him on his first safari, and scheduled a trip down to the Serengeti. For several days they searched until they found a group of Wildebeest, and with one clean shot, Ojore had made his first kill. Unbeknownst to them, a hunting party of lioness had also been tracking the Wildebeest herd as well, and Ojore's gunshot scared the rest off. With one dead wildebeest and several people, they decided that there was enough food to go around and attacked.

Their guide was the first to be killed, and then Ojore's father got a nasty slash wound before killing the beast attacking him. Ojore himself was in the process of being mauled when his powers activated for the first time, saving his life. The lioness was literally torn apart, and the entire area began to shake as Ojore's abilities ran unchecked. For almost ten minutes, the immediate area quaked; Ojore was blinded by the blood streaming into his eyes, and mad with the pain of almost dying....he'd lost himself. And then through blurry eyes he saw the most beautiful woman he'd ever laid eyes on. She wasn't much older than him, and her white hair and eyes had him mesmerized; he didn't know it at the time, but the woman was Ororo Munroe.

She along with his father finally calmed him down, and after sorting through everything, they headed for home. He would never forget the white haired woman, that much was for sure. Back in Ethiopia, he and his family came to term with his abilities, and life continued on. He finished secondary school by 15, and that same year went to the National University of Rwanda to begin his college studies. Then the Rwandan Genocide took place, and he was smack dab in the middle of it. More times than he'd like to count, he was forced to kill to survive; and in that short span of time something inside him changed. When the Genocide was over, he went back to Ethiopia to major in Electronics and Engineering, and by 21 he was interning at DRC. By 25 he was their top researcher; and two years later, through no small amount of blackmail and threats the he proved he was very willing to make carry out, he took over as CEO and President, effectively coming to own the Deterrence Research Corporation in it's entirety.

As the main location of the DRC was in Canaan, a neighboring nation of Wakanda; he of course relocated to run the company from it's birthplace. As it turned out, Canaan's current ruler was a man named Baru who'd inherited the rule from his Grandfather several decades ago. He was a fair man, but he was a bleeding heart and a fool; Ojore knew he could use that to his full advantage. With several military and civillian contracts, the DRC was very well off; Ojore however wasn't satisfied, so when the inveitable illicit requests and black market contracts hit the table...he accepted.

Soon he was contracting for anyone who could pay his fee; and his personal revenue skyrocketed as he couldn't very well merge the funds with the companies without raising eyebrows. That's not to say he squandered it all on himself though; Ojore was an ambitious man, and he had a plan to see his all his dreams furthered. It took almost another two years to get enough money, but once he had it, Magnum Munitions was founded. With two companies under his belt, he shifted the DRC's research and development to strictly non-lethal weaponry.

The DRC became a subsidiary while Magnum Munitions took over all previous contracts legal and otherwise. At this point Moses was above the law of Canaan, not that anything could be proven anyway. With his two companies, he was content with creating weapons and living his life for the moment. An unrealized motivation of his was to rule, and Canaan was a perfect place to start; although that would be far into the future should it ever come to fruition.

DURING APOCALYPSE (April 5th through April 12th, 2009) Africa wasn't hit as hard as many other places during the Apocalypse, although that didn't keep the effects from being felt. Canaan specifically was out of harms way, although an impressive number of rebels tried to use the chaos to overthrow Baru; the attempts failed thanks to the authorities and Ojore's private security forces. Concerning the incident, he made plans to send relief aid where he could, when he could to keep up appearances. Apocalypse was a disaster, anyone with a brain could see that; Ojore however saw the benefit as well. He knew that while people couldn't very well be expected to buy his ordinance during the event; but he had the foresight to realize that when all was said and done....the orders would come rolling in. So for that week, he increased security and waited out the storm.

POST-APOCALYPSE After the Apocalypse, Ojore returned to business as usual; running his companies and setting up new deals and contracts with the several militaries, terrorist groups, and anyone else who was interested in his technological marvels. They of course were the mainstays of his attention, but he kept his eyes and ears open to events happening around the rest of the world. The Coney Island incident between SHIELD and the Brotherhood for example was one that really caught his attention; he'd heard of the Brotherhood before and knew the basics, but he really did a lot of in-depth research after that. Coming from a place with few mutants, and then reaching the heights of power he had with help from his own mutation, he'd never seen the plight of mutantkind for what it was; apparently the Brotherhood were in the thick of it and that incident caused things to escalate even further.

After seeing the carnage and ruthlessness, he identified with them; people willing to do what was necessary to see their goals accomplished...he respected them for it. He did some serious deliberation, and the thought of joining the Brotherhood sounded more and more promising as time went on. From a personal standpoint, he'd be at the forefront of the force that changed the world and mutantkind when the Brotherhood finally did succeed with their plans; from a business standpoint....the possibilities were endless.

Finding them after their departure was very difficult; especially when dealing with everything else, but eventually he found a representative and offered his services to the Brotherhood. Not only did he have his own powers to add, he had the manpower, resources, and the technology provided by DRC, Magnum Munitions; and Magnum Force, his private security firm. The cogs were turning in his head, and if all went according to plan, he would be considered a member of the Brotherhood of Mutants soon.

SAMPLE RP POST:

April 30th 2011

He reclined in his chair as he looked out over Canaan, his Canaan from the penthouse office suite in the main building of Magnum Munitions. Sweet smoke drifted lazily upwards as he took leisurely puffs from his Cuban cigar as Ojore Musa, also known as Moses Magnum to the less reputable sorts in his employ and around the world waited for his next appointment. He turned back towards his desk when the beep from his phone signified a message from his personal assistant and secretary; turning it on he took another pull of the cigar before opening his mouth...."Yes?" The woman cleared her throat before speaking; she'd known her boss long enough to know that there were a great many things he didn't tolerate, dawdling and fumbling over words being among that list.

"Sir, your three forty-five appointments are here to see you; shall I send them up." "Yes, and do tell them to hurry....we have much to discuss;" before she could respond, he'd ended the call and made another one to the security guard outside his office; a simple order was given to stand beside him during the meeting, and have the silenced pistol holstered, but ready to be fired. The guard entered the room and stood at attention shortly before his appointments arrived; two men who who carried the look and stench of failure, as well as a nasty limp from a knife injury. Standing up, he faced the view of his country once more as his guard poured them both glasses of Scotch. "Gentlemen, welcome to Canaan; please sit and have a drink before we get down to business." They did as requested before he turned around and sat down facing them; the looks of nervousness were obvious to someone such as he, even though the men sitting across from him were trained soldiers of fortune.

"Now, let's get started with this meeting. You both know why you are here, and you both know that I paid an exorbitant amount to see you released from imprisonment with no questions asked." He paused and poured himself a drink, taking a light sip before turning his attention back to them. "Obviously, I did not do these things out of the kindness of my heart, noooooo. I did them because some, some unreasonable pet peeve of mine compels me to question what can possibly go wrong when I assign you a simple job, and give you millions of dollars worth of equipment just to see it done properly!!!" His voice had raised several octaves, and the scars on his forehead glistened under the beads of sweat that had started to show; another sip of Scotch and a deep breath calmed him down though.

"The mission was a simple one; find Ororo Munroe and use the nullification tech and power armor I provided to relieve her of those knives given to her by T'Challa. There was no possible way for you to fail, and yet you did. The parties who made me aware of you said you were highly recommended...successful in operations from Sudan to Malaysia and beyond...yet you failed me. What happened in Egypt?" The two men looked back and forth, nervousness crossing their features, and a quick gesture from Ojore gave them permission to speak; permission they used to explain that a man with Storm at the time helped her in defeating them; and even told him that they assumed she'd given him the knives for safe keeping.

"This certainly complicates things, but your words seem truthful, so I will assume this failure was because of unforeseen variables, and not ineptitude. But it was still a failure." He paused for a long time before nodding his head, the nod being the signal for his guard to unholster his pistol and shoot the Captain in both legs. The Major stood to his feet, but began gripping his chest and coughing up blood after Moses made a small gesture that ruptured one of his organs. "I do not tolerate failure as your legs and mangled insides can attest to.

However, you two have experience with this problem now, and I will once again provide you with the means to see this thing done, as well as medical expenses that will ensure you don't end up permanently handicapped or dead if you agree to finish it for a hefty discount....otherwise I will have no problem killing you both right here." They thought about their options fairly quickly and both nodded in agreement. "Good, I'm glad we've come to an accord....now begone, I have things to do." Another nod and his guard helped the Captain to his knees, and another entered to attend to the Major; they would both be taken to a hospital and taken care of before being sent back on another mission....but soon...those 9' long vibranium treasure troves would be in his possession.

Note - I wouldn't be surprised if it needs a lot of edits. After restarting the entire bio several times, I just tried to throw together what sounded like it made sense and hope for the best. If it does needs edits though, they shall be made, etcetera.

My name is Ororo Munroe and I approve this message.
Er, I mean, the references to me in this app.
I continue to be amused that we're getting so much mileage out of a throwaway fight scene in a flashback.

Buford Hollis - September 9, 2011 12:55 AM (GMT)
Ugh, I'm really really sorry about the wait that it took for someone to look over the bio.

Here's my problem. I'm really really not comfortable approving a Player Character who rules his own country. Magneto does, but A) he's Magneto B) Matt worked for years to get the Brotherhood to that point.

I have more but, this is the most pressing concern I have and I feel that it must be resolved before anything else.

Moses Magnum - September 9, 2011 01:48 AM (GMT)
No problem about the wait. About him ruling however, I was just going along with canon which says he overthrew the ruler of Canaan and took over. I'm sure it's not a huge country by any means, and it probably wouldn't even be in play that much, but if it absolutely must be taken out...I guess I'll have to rewrite the bio a bit.

Moses Magnum - September 15, 2011 02:45 AM (GMT)
History has been edited so Canaan is still ruled by it's rightful....ruler. Ojore at the moment has a subconscious desire to take over the country, but he hasn't acknowledged it yet.

Buford Hollis - September 15, 2011 04:13 AM (GMT)
Thank you for making these changes.

I've got no issues here. Looking forward to see how you handle him.
