Name: Isaiah Card

Alias: Ajax

Affiliation: Others/Genoshan Freedom League/NPC

Personality: Over years of oppression under humans Ajax has developed a hatred for the human race. He has seen the worst that they have to offer. His race was subjugated because they were different; some even said they are the next step in human evolution. He knows that to hate humans makes him just as bad as those that he despises but he had lost his entire family in Genosha. His wife is dead and his son is missing. He longs for the day to reunite with his son and is still in mourning for his wife.

Isaiah is very determined. The Genoshan Freedom League presents an opportunity to find his son and bring him home to his father’s arms. He is not afraid to go to any length for his child, or his enslaved mutant brethren for that matter. He is not bent on genocide but rather the liberation of his homeland. He will however, not be afraid to kill anyone human or mutant that stands between him and his son.

Powers: Geokinesis. Isaiah Card can morph and shape the earth around him to his wishes. Earth in this case refers to the soil, stone, to some degree the metal. His manipulation of metals is strongest for raw ores and to a lesser degree more refined metals. The reach of his powers extends to a radius of fifty yards. He can form shapes out of the solid matter. These are usually rudimentary in design such as pillars and inclines and occasionally hands that he can mentally control. On the opposite end, he can cause fissures and sinkholes resulting in localized earthquakes.

Another facet of his power is the creation of armor. He can surround himself in stone (he could use soil but stone or metal ore is stronger) for protection and added strength. The ultimate use of this power is the generation of a giant armor of earth, stone and metal from the surrounding area. This armor is humanoid in shape and Ajax resides in the area that could be called the chest cavity. It towers to a height of 60 feet. He is protected in the heart of the armor inside a shell of compressed minerals that has been pressed to the point it is clear. This is how he is able to see where to direct his titanic golem.

A large weakness for Ajax is that he is connected and feels grounded when in contact with the earth. When he has long periods away from the ground he begins to grow ill. Though he can manipulate the metal and concrete inside a building he feels much stronger on the ground.

History: Isaiah Card was born on Genosha in the city of Hammer Bay. His family was unremarkable. Both of his parents were middle class citizens that worked diligently to earn what little they had. When he was fifteen, his powers activated. Isaiah caused a small scale earthquake and caused some structural damage. In accordance with Genoshan law, the young boy was taken into custody away from his family.

Isaiah was brought under control by the magistrates but he never let it crush his spirit. He dreamed of the day that he could break free. He knew better than to openly revolt, he had seen what happened to other mutants. The penalty for defiance was normally swift. Isaiah worked for the government and used his powers in the field of construction. He moved large amounts of earth. When his powers evolved and he could form larger and larger golems, they employed him in demolition.

Over time, Isaiah met his wife Rebecca in the slave compound. She had the power to affect rainfall and was used by the magistrates to ensure crop production. They had a son together, named Duncan, who the magistrates took a special interest in. They hoped he would have the combined powers of his parents. When Duncan was born and weaned, the boy was taken by the magistrates for testing. Rebecca fought back and was beaten but not killed. She was too important for the magistrates to just kill. Isaiah tried to fight back but he was knocked out before he could activate any kind of disturbance. After that, Rebecca and Isaiah were kept separated in the compound.

Two days afterward, Apocalypse struck. In the mass confusion Isaiah was able to find his wife. They were trying to make their way to the labs to find their son but Rebecca was mortally wounded by a sentry. Isaiah killed the soldier by swallowing him in the ground. Rebecca realized that the window for escape may be small. She convinced her husband to escape the island. He could seek help from other mutants, possibly Magneto, to come back and save their son and their people. If he acted alone, he could be killed. Isaiah was reluctant but it was true. He could get help from the Brotherhood.

Isaiah escaped to the mainland and eventually joined the other refuges in Sanctuary. He has now taken up the moniker of Ajax.
